Chp 80 : A Mother's determination

So that exactly what Yael did, that night she wore a black cloak to cover her red-ish brown hair to blend into the night of the palace

"I wish we were able to spend more time together little one..." She sweetly whispered to her son as she stumbled across the stairs and through the more messy and unkempt parts of the palace garden to not be spotted

"I hope that you will be able to remember me... or perhaps not, you might feel cheated by life to be born to a mother like me" Yael chuckled as she continued to quietly jog through the garden slowly as to not wake her son up

The journey to the Curran palace was not an easy one, especially for Yael who had a frail body, still recovering from childbirth. Even walking was a excruciatingly painful for her

But for her child she would climb even the steepest rocky cliff to ensure his survival, which was what Yael had to do right now as she came face to face with a sheer cliff that overlooked the land through the clouds, with only sharp rocks that barely resembled footholds for her to climb up

"... I knew the Currans were unwanted, but I didn't know they were seen as monsters" Yael said as she started to second guess her decision to sneak her son into the forsaken palace "You would be stuck up there forever if you really were Karter's child..."

Yael wasn't even doubting it, she was sure her son was Karter's, who wouldn't be

But she still hoped her son was part Xinthri

The Curran palace was built on a cliff, to outsiders they assume it is because the main family puts them there so they would never have to see the children again

That's only half true, it is known that Xinthris who are skilled enough were able to fly freely with their powers, if one of the bastard children were able to descend from the palace up in the clouds the main family would allow them to come back to serve them as knights as those who manage to come down would be one of the most strongest and resilient warriors ever

"... but my son is not a Xinthri" She said as tears started falling from hey eyes, soaking her haggard face, "What now?" Yael didn't know what to do anymore as she started quietly wailing, collapsing onto the floor with her son safely in her arms

"wua..." The child started rolling around in Yael's arms to come face her, playing with her messy, dangling strand of hair

"Do you wish to go up there?" she asked her son as she poked at his cheeks

"Gwah!" the child seemed excited for some reason

"Haha, you truly are fearless! I hope you remain like this in the future, no matter what god throws at you!" Yael said as she stood back up, raising her son into the air

The child did not cry at all, which Yael noticed and thought it was strange, the child was pure and unconcerned of the harsh situation they were in

"I decided! You should continue living, even though life will be tough!... you are destined to be a great warrior" She said solemnly, bring her child back down for a hug before she quickly took or her coat and turned it into a makeshift bag to carry her son

"I hope your comfortable! Even though I'm a great warrior, this cliff will take me the 2 days!"

Yael said, it was more like she was talking to herself, strengthening her determination to give her child at least a fighting chance

"I'll talk to you again at the top! Mothers got to concentrate on climbing safely to bring you to the top! Then we can spend all the time in the world together!" Yael said as she patted her child's head as he once again slept

In truth, Yael knew that even if she were able to climb up the treacherous cliff and make if to the top alive, she would die from exhaustion from climbing for 2 days straight... even if she were to miraculously survive, she would have to disappear so no one would know the child was hers
