Chp 22 : The Three Mercenaries

The family quickly left the town doctor's house to look for the mercenaries, they only had a few hours left before nighttime when the mercenaries are leaving. At this point they had no other choice but to go with the mercenaries now, because since Elena was injured if they were to go on their own there was only Silas to protect the both of them from the demons

"Excuse me lady, me and my family are trying to find a group of mercenaries that are said to depart today, have you by any chance seen them?"

"Oh yes I have seen them, they are near the edge of the town already! If you want to go with them I advise you to hurry!"

"Thanks!"

The trio ran as fast as they can to the town, but Elena was falling behind due to her broken ankle. As they neared the edge of the town they saw a huge wagon that was hooked to two tall and black horses.

"They are over there! Wait!"

Silas yelled out as he noticed the mercenaries getting on their wagon ready to depart.

The three of them quickly ran to the wagon but they were too late, the wagon started moving further and further away from them, but then Siun suddenly dashed and hopped on to the carriage.

"Hey kid! What are you doing here?! Scram!"

"Wait please! Hear me out! My family is poor and we are desperately in need to go meet the saints!"

"I don't care about your sob story! we don't need some family to slow us down!" The muscular man said as he readied his fists, ready to beat up Siun.

"Stop stop! What do you think your doing Karter?! Were you going to beat up a child?!" a voice shrieked out.

The voice came from a woman with dark brown hair, who was atleast 5'9! The woman had brown eyes matching her brown hair and if you look at her hands you could see brass knuckles with pointy tips. She was about 23 while Elena and Silas were 27

"Jean stop the wagon!" The woman ordered again, it seems like she was the leader.

As the wagon stopped Elena and Silas finally reached the wagon.

The woman looked up at the sky, there was still some time left before the sun sets.

"Guys, get off the carriage!"

"Yael, why are we doing this?! Let them deal with their own problems! Why should we waste time on them?!"

"Shut up Karter, lets listen to Ms. Yael"

The voice came from Jean. Jean was a bit taller than Elena and he had medium length dark brown hair that he tied up into a small pony tail. Jean also had brown eyes and also wore a a brown hood. He was 25, a tad bit older than Yael

he looked like a walking stick with all that brown.

"So, what is it that you want from us mercenaries?" Yael asked

"Please help transport us to main Xinthri! We need to meet the saints so that we can heal my wife and son!" Silas yelled out.

After Yael heard Silas's reason she diverted her attention to Elena and Siun who were standing behind him. She wanted to confirm is he was telling the truth.

She took one glance at Elena and already knew that she had major injuries... I mean, her right arm was missing.

But when she looked at Siun she didn't see any visible injuries.

"What's wrong with your son mister? He looks perfectly fine to me!"

Elena's raspy voice spoke up, "My son is suffering from a mysterious illness for his whole three years of living, and it has only gotten worse as he grew older"

Yael closed her eyes trying to make a decision,

"Alright. Karter, Jean, make some space on the wagon, they are coming with us"

"Yael what the heck are you doing?! We now need to not only protect ourselves but them too?!"

"Stop your yapping you selfish prick, Ms. Yael said they are coming with us, be a good underling and listen to her!"

Elena, Silas and Siun got on the wagon.

[Siun : Tex, do you think these mercenaries are strong enough to protect us from the demons?]

[Tex : Yes of course, they have much more fighting experience than Elena and they are all strong]

The five of them : Elena, Silas, Siun, Yael and Karter sat in the wagon.

"So what are your names? We might as well become good friends during this 5 day trip" Yael said in a cheerful tone

"My name is Silas and my wife's name is Elena and our son is Siun"

"I see, My name is Yael and this grumpy guy next to me is Karter, and Jean is the one driving the carriage right now... Anyways, you guys are all Xinthris right? Your kid was pretty fast haha"

"Haha I can see why you would think that, but im actually from Seux like you. My skin just got lighter due to me being here for so long."

"Ahhhh I see! I was wondering why a Xinthri looked so muscular!"

[Siun : Tex, what are they talking about? How did Silas know she was a Seux so fast?]

[Tex : It's really easy, people from Seux usually have a tan because of the hot climate there, and they are more taller and muscular]

[Siun : Ahhhh I understand! So does that mean Yael might be able to use fire powers?! I want to see!]

[Tex : Huhuhu why don't you ask her then?]
