I Prepared For The Wrong Ending

Noir's preparation plan to face the apocalypse was utterly crushed after finding out that what came at the end of the world wasn't the event he had expected but a strange phenomenon that made everyone disappear. He and the other six survivors had to live in the abandoned world for 11 months until a second phenomenon appeared again and eliminated the rest of the living. Surprisingly, instead of being sent to oblivion, he was awakened in the body of a boy with the same name as him. In this new life, Noir decided to become an observer instead of a leader since everyone here had superpowers. Surely, nothing could happen to this world if everyone was that strong, right?

Sovereign I

Noir used seamless transportation, namely a teleporter device, to get to his house as fast as he could.

For the record, the teleporter was another technomagi invention in that world in the current era. There had been no record of how it was made and what materials were used.

Noir thought he could get some information about the device in the top secrets, but that was for another time. Right now, the most important thing was present before him.

Staring at the door, Noir took a deep breath before walking with resolution. As much as he wanted this moment, he couldn't help but feel anxious.

The memories of his sister in this world weren't that good. According to it, the relationship between them was complicated, and most of the problems came from Noir's past self.

He had a grudge and a seed of jealousy toward his sister, which had grown because of people's words. The hate, treatment, and opinion of Noir Teundre were on the negative side compared to Noelle Teundre.

'Reflecting on this guy's personality, I won't be surprised if he ended up killed himself or became an 'enemy' of humanity and society,' Noir thought about this universe's him.

After passing over fifteen floors using the lift, Noir exited and walked a few meters away before he could stand in front of the luxury door toward his and his sister's apartment room.

'It's okay. These memories... I'm sure these are just false beliefs because of too much stress and everything. How the receptionists seemed like they wanted to lick my boot is the proof of that.'

Letting his muscles relax, Noir reached for the doorknob, twisted it, and slowly pushed it inward.

'Sister...'

However, the door wouldn't budge.

Could it be he was locked outside?!

No. Noir forgot that his room was a luxury one, so an identification confirmation was a way for him to get inside.

After scanning his FT Phone at the scanner beside the doorway, Noir finally could open the door.

"I'm home... sister," Noir said as he walked inside, scratching his head. "Sorry for returning so late at night."

Noir expected something to come flying at him at a light speed, but no. There was nothing. Not even a house lizard's annoying noises.

'Is no one home?'

He searched every corner, and yes, he was right. No one was around in that apartment room except Noir.

Entering to check his sister's room, Noir found a letter and an FT Phone on the cabinet instead.

Noir took the letter and started reading as soon as he sat on the bedside.

It said that his sister, Noelle, was sorry for leaving him alone again because of her job. She hoped he would forgive her by the time she returned. However, she stated this job would take longer than usual to finish. And she also had left her FT Phone, which was full of her saved money for her brother to use.

Shocked by her writing, Noir clutched his head.

"What the... just how can you treat her like this, you selfish idiot!" Noir shouted as he slapped his own cheek.

He really couldn't believe that before he came into this body, the person was so filled with hatred and such, to the point he perceived every good deed his sister did negatively.

Coincidentally, a mirror stood in front of him. He looked at his reflection for a long time.

Noir was always a narcissist before the storm took everything. He would pose like a celebrity every time he saw his charming appearance in the mirror, saying that his dirty blond hair was a weapon to charm the opposite sex. And his golden eyes...

Wait. Golden?

"Aren't my eyes supposed to be purple?"

He rose up and approached the mirror, examining his eyes closer. After confirming it really was gold rather than purple, Noir put his hand under his chin.

'Now that I think about it... the world's name, the year, the color of my eyes, and the civilization don't match up. But the fact that I have a sister with the same name, mine as well...'

Noir shook his head.

'Ah, whatever... I don't care if this body is me in another universe or if everything about him coincidentally has the same story as me. I can be satisfied with just knowing that this world is safe and sound for now. If there is a catastrophe in the future, I'm sure they can manage it.'

Feeling the gravity pulling him down, Noir yawned as he walked to his bedroom and dived once he arrived.

'Yeah, I'm sure of it... they will manage it,' Noir said as sleepiness overtook him slowly. 'With so many unimaginable strong people, I can just become an observer this time...'

Noir closed his eyes.

'Hah... what a life...'

A moment later, he jolted up with a face full of guilt.

"I shouldn't have said that line!" He screamed. "Fvck! I just raised a flag out of nowhere!"

He went quiet abruptly. After a while of abrupt silence, he lay down again, pulling the blanket over his head.

'I'll just sleep.'

Noir closed his eyes and fell asleep. For real, this time.

...

The darkness was absolute. It filled everything with its nothingness. It was quiet and almost felt serene.

Sadly, a small light appeared within its space and slowly replaced the darkness with its power. The space was now white instead of black. But it was still empty and vast.

In that strange space, a human was sleeping soundly without care about the world. Although, that person eventually awoke after something made of light poking him intensely.

The person fixed his messy, dirty blond hair, pulling it up to tie it with a rubber but finding none.

It was Noir Teundre. And he just realized he was in a strange place after a few minutes of looking around.

"Huh, what? Where the hell is this?"

[You have finally come.]

Noir flinched as a voice, which sounded holy and divine, reverberated in that place.

[O' the abandoned one.]
