"I'm not quitting football!"

As soon as Omari said those words, both men turned their attention to him almost immediately.

"Omari? Are you okay?" Chris asked immediately he saw Omari sit up. His face had a concerned expression plastered all over it. He would've walked toward Omari but Jurg held him back.

While he wasn't a neither the father that had nothing but concern for his son in his mind nor was he the son angry at his father, it made him the person with the most rational train of thoughts.

His rationality told him that he couldn't allow Omari's anger and Chris's concern meet.

"Will you leave me the fuck alone! I need to meet my son" Chris immediately yanked himself free from Jurg's grasp.

"Oh please, don't give me that concerned father crap. We both know that you don't give two shits about me!" Omari said agitatedly. He winced and clutched his ribs immediately after. He'd forgotten that he couldn't afford to get himself so angry.

Chris felt as if his heart was torn apart. He looked at Ayanfe with surprise in his eyes. It was almost as if he didn't know his own son.

"W-why would you say that?" Chris stuttered.

Omari scoffed. "If you cared about me then you wouldn't mercilessly snatch my dream away from me without so much as my opinion. You know, thinking about it you've hidden a lot from me. How didn't I know that you were scouted by Middlesbrough when you were younger?!"

Chris opened his mouth to talk, then closed it, then opened it again. "That was a really dark period of my life that I don't wish to discuss" Chris said finally.

"Well I'm sorry but you have to talk about it" Omari turned to Jurg. "Or I'll have to ask the only person who's been honest with me"

Chris was shocked for some moments before realization dawned on him. He turned to Jurg and grabbed the collar of his shirt. "You told him, didn't you?!"

Jurg pushed Chris away and smoothened his now rumpled collar. "You can't blame me for not knowing that you chose to hide such things from him, so yes I did tell him that you were scouted but at least I saved you the dignity of telling him the real reason why you left"

Omari was stunned. Jurg told him the previous day that his dad only quit because he was forced to, but from his statement, it was obvious that there was another reason.

He turned to face Chris. "Why did you quit football?"

"I quit because my dad-" Chris was about to start with the lie but he was interrupted by a deeper voice.

"He quit because he was a pussy, and still is apparently. Some people go through hell just to play football but one acl tear was enough to force a sixteen year old regarded as a once in a lifetime genius to retire" Jurg said.

Chris stared daggers at him while he was talking but Jurg didn't seem to notice. Or, in more accurate terms ignored Chris completely.

"So you're telling me that he was that good and he quit because of a dumb injury?" Omari was in disbelief. All the anger he felt had disappeared. Right now he was in a daze.

"I've been saying he was a pussy" Jurg said. "He was scared of being hurt again and as such, decided that the best thing to do was to never play football again"

Omari thought of Jack who also had an injury. He thought of everything Jack must've gone through while he was at Liverpool and all the rage he felt came back to him.

Jack endured it, so why couldn't his father do the same?

"That's not really happened, but since we insist on calling me a pussy then let's have at it!" Chris said. "I wasn't scared back then, but I am now. Omari continuing to play after now is a big risk, and I'm sorry, but I can't let you take that risk"

"Why not? There are countless footballers who have gone through the same thing, dare I say worse things and continued to play" Omari argued. Nothing that Chris said was going to make him quit football.

"Name one"

Omari scoffed. "Sir Boby Charltan survived a plane crash and still decided to continue playing football. Hell, I'm sure that he entered a lot of planes in the remainder of his career. He didn't stop using planes just because his plane crashed" Omari argued.

"That's a really motivational story, but there's only one flaw there. You see, you're not Sir Boby Charltan, you're Omari Hutchingson, a fifteen year old youth player who just got robbed in the streets of Liverpool" Chris said.

Omari grabbed a handful of his hair. His dad was beginning to frustrate him. Playing football had nothing to do with what happened to him. It was as a result of poor adult supervision from Jurg and, well… bad luck! He didn't understand why his dad was insisting so strongly that he should stop playing football.

"Look, I didn't quit because I got injured, I actually quit because my father wanted me to. And as much as I don't want to do this to you, I'm going to have to make you do the same"Omari chuckled when he heard his dad's statement. "You know, I say this with all the respect that I have for you, but I'm not you. I don't care whatever you have to say about all this because quite frankly there's no way in hell that I'm going to quit just because of the fact that you're scared of something silly"
