275 A Confession?

Ana's grip on the woman loosened due to the pressure. She took a step back but stumbled and fell to the ground. Sarfina laughed maniacally as if she had lost all her senses.

"Do not worry, Duchess. Princess Meredith will take good care of Duke Sopheriene. He would never miss a dumb woman like you," she taunted. With that, she pounced on Ana, but before the dagger could touch Anna, she was held by two men.

Vincent was the first to grab her, and the second was Garrison. Instead of glaring at Sarafina, they both narrowed their eyes at each other with frost beneath them.

Diana came forward and held Ana in her arms. "Darling, are you okay?" Her face was full of panic and fear as she hugged her daughter tightly, as if Ana would disappear if she wasn't held.

Ana closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of her mother's embrace. It was all an act she had planned. She didn't falter in her strength but intentionally acted weak compared to Sarfina and let herself fall.
