PRESENT - (Investigation)

After Kate's secretary, Lyanna drives away Ashton, she came back to Kate.

Kate was typing something on the laptop.

"Ma'am I drove away that man"

"Hmm"

"Make me a cup of coffee"

"Yes ma'am"

Kate would always say please before asking for something. The only time she wouldn't, meant she was not well or super pissed or angry. She looked fine so the only explanation could be that she was super angry. But because of what? 'Was it because of that person?' Thought Lyanna to herself.

"Do I need to repeat myself?"

Lyanna was there in a daze when Kate's voice came.

"N... no no ma'am. Right away" She needed to be careful right now. Who knows what her boss would do. One would say if Lyanna's boss was so stringent, why would she stay with her instead of finding a new job? Well, Lyanna was there from Kate from the beginning, when a Phoenix Corporation didn't exist. And even though they didn't have anything, Kate always ensured that Lyanna was protected. At the same time, Kate had never treated her like someone below her. Yes, sometimes, in anger she would drop the honorifics and she would even act harsh, but it was never with the intent of harming her. To Lyanna, Kate was more of a friend than a boss. Though both of them had never said it out loud, it was a mutual understanding between them.

After she gave her the coffee....

"Lyanna"

"Yes ma'am? "

"Ask Wang to investigate someone"

"Who ma'am?"

"My mother" Kate said with a solemn expression. She didn't forget the conversation she had overheard the other day.

"Yes ma'am, right away" said Lyanna.

Wang was Kate's right hand man in the underworld. He was the head of the 'Shi gang' which was the most dangerous and powerful gang in the underworld. Even the gangs in other parts of the world were scared of them. They were known for their rightfulness yet ruthlessness. If someone offended any member of the 'Shi gang' one could say that he would be secluded by the entire world and he wouldn't have anywhere is the world to run to.

Kate met Wang when he was in Japan. But that story is for later on.
