FLASHBACK -Distant

"That's it? That's all they asked?" Said Ashton.

Kate had just reached home. It was afternoon already and she was dead tired yet she called Ashton to tell him what happened.

"Yes. They'll probably come to your house tomorrow or maybe sometime soon"

"That's fine. I can handle then. Just you stay with your points and everything will go well."

"Hmm.."

There's a silence for 5 seconds and then Kate speaks.

"Ashton?"

"Yeah?"

"You didn't do anything you shouldn't have did you?"

"umm.. no why do you ask? don't you trust me?"

"Do you think that if I didn't trust you I would do all this?"

Ashton falls silent. That's true. She lied to the police. That's more than enough to show that she trusts him blindly.

But,

she couldn't be more wrong.

"If you did not do anything wrong then why are we doing this Ash?"

"Because baby, if we say that you came later on them they'll think that I did something to Susie to make her do this, but you know that I didn't do anything like that. Right baby?"

"Hmm.."

"Great then. You can go and sleep. You did well. I'll talk to you later. Bye!"

"Bye"

Kate waited for him to say 'I love you' but he didn't and hung up directly. Kate was disappointed. And obviously, why shouldn't she be. She was lying for him and he was not even giving her his love. She was obviously annoyed. Kate then changed her clothes and took a shower. She had not taken a shower since morning as she went with the police officers directly. After taking a shower she made herself a bowl of porridge and watched some TV and then slept. The next time she woke up it was already 6 pm. She could see the red sky with the birds chirping. She picked up her phone and checked her call log. No calls from Ashton. Disappointed again, she went for a walk. While coming back she saw Ashton going towards the house she always thought was actually his. She shouted his name, but he didn't turn and even fastened his pace a bit or was it just Kate's illusion? Kate called him but he didn't pick up so she started running towards him. As Ashton was at a distance, she couldn't catch upto him and saw him disappear inside the building. This time Kate was seriously annoyed.

'Why is Ashton behaving like this? Is he avoiding me? Why would he do that? I love him so much. I gavey everything to him. Wait, I shouldn't overthink, maybe he didn't hear me actually. Tomorrow I'll just talk to him about this and everything will be sorted. Yes. It will be sorted.'

Thinking this, Kate went back to her house. But little did she know that she'll never get this chance.
