FLASHBACK - Near death

"Kate?? Kate??? Please wake up..."

Kate slowly opened her eyes and saw Susie calling out her name. The expression on her face showed she was very worried.

"Su--Susie?"

Her vision still wasn't clear. She could hear the sound of the ECG machine beside her. Several tubes were injected in her hands. She was surrounded by doctors and seemed to be doing something....

"Kate? You are scaring me... child"

'Child? Susie would never call me a child....' Kate looked back at the direction from where the voice was coming. Her vision was a bit clear now.

'She is opening her eyes. Come on come on... Give her the shot...' Kate heard Emily speaking...

'Oh... hah..it was Auntie... I thought you came back...' Kate again closed her eyes.

"Kate wake up!! Come on! What about the dreams you wanted to fulfill for someone?? What about them!!! Stay with me! Come on!"

'My dreams?? Huh...the person whom I wanted to fulfill them for...is not there with me... she's dead...what's the point now... Moreover I like this peace that is surrounding me... it's quiet and my heart feels at peace... Probably I'll go and meet Susie now...I owe her a lot...I need to apologize to her as well...yes...'

'Her heartbeat rate is dropping, even her blood pressure is dropping... the patient is again going into a coma...we have to stop it and get her back to her senses orelse she'll never wake up!'

'Quick! Get the Defibrillator!'

'Yes sir! Ready!'

'Do it!'

A sound of an electric spark came...

'No response. Again!'

'Yes sir!'

'Now!!'

Another sound of an electric spark....

'You have to live Kate!! I did this to protect you!! Are you wasting my sacrifice for you then?' a soft voice spoke inside Kate's head.

She immediately took in a deep breath and her eyes started watering...

'Heartbeat increasing... Blood pressure rising... breathing stabilizing... she'll wake up anytime now...'

Kate opened her eyes wide. She was surrounded by doctors. Few of them were wiping their sweat.

Kate looked at the nurses as well and then at Emily, who was almost on the verge of crying even though she had to maintain a neutral reaction because of her job.

Kate gave a faint smile to everyone and faintly said - "Sorry"
