FLASHBACK - Hospital

Kate woke up at the sound of a man talking to a woman. She had heard that voice before, of that woman. Yeah, she was her nurse. She was saying something about how she got to the hospital but she couldn't hear her. She was drowsy and slept. She was still a bit drowsy, so couldn't hear properly what they were talking about.

"Do you understand?"

"Yes sir, it'll be a secret. We'll ensure she recuperates properly."

"Hmm."

Then she heard the sound of the door opening and closing. The man had left. Kate coughed a bit and the nurse came towards her.

"Are you up?"

Kate tried speaking but she couldn't.

"It will take some time, you had been crying all this time, so your vocal cords were a bit disrupted. Take it slow"

Kate nodded.

"Are you hungry?"

Kate nodded again. The nurse immediately pressed a button and asked the person on the line to bring her some food and some warm water to drink.

"Are you feeling any better?" asked the nurse.

"Hmm" said Kate.

"That's good. You need to recuperate properly. Hormonal imbalance is bad, some can even lead to depression. You need to eat, sleep and take your medicines on time. You understand me?"

"Hmm."

"That's good"

The door of the ward then opened and another nurse came inside with a food trolly. She was about to prepare her plate, but hen she saw Kate's face and got a bit stunned and stared her for a while. The other nurse scolded her a bit for her to resume her work. She then put some hi-fibre bread along with a 'sunny side up' on a clean plate, and poured a glass of fresh orange juice. Before serving her food she gave Kate a glass of warm water so as to soothe her throat. After drinking it, Kate immediately felt better.

"Thank you" she said, her voice still a bit quivering.

"No need to thank us child, it's our job" said the nurse who just brought in the food. The nurse felt as if she had seen her somewhere and she even gave her a feeling of someone very close. Maybe she was just getting illusions. Who knows.

After feeding her, she gently patted Kate's head. Kate also felt the warmth coming from her and gave her a cheeky smile. The nurse smiled back and took the food tray and the glass and nodded and left the ward. Even Kate could feel as if she knew this nurse. But she couldn't remember how or where.

"Do you want to use the washroom?" said the other nurse, immediately bringing Kate out of her daze.

"No, thank you."

"Okay, if you need anything just press this button. Got it?"

"Yes."

"Good. I'll be giving you some time now, I'll be in the vicinity. And do not cry orelse even the best doctors can't help you."

Kate nodded and started looking out of the window. The nurse left the room and closed the door behind her leaving Kate all alone inside the room.
