FLASHBACK - Girlfriend

After the lecture got over, Kate got ready to go to the volleyball court.. She was in the college volleyball team so she had to practice everyday. The best part about this college's volleyball team was that it was unisex. So the college team had both guys as well as girls. Or one should say, it had guys and a girl. Kate was the only girl who played volleyball in the entire college. Other girls generally played badminton or basketball. Most of them were for cheer leading. A lot of girls disliked Kate for this reason. They thought Kate wanted to grab the attention of the guys by playing in between them. They had never seen her playing anyway, so they thought she just acted as if she knew how to play. Kate knew about what others spoke about her, but she didn't care about it so she never paid any attention to them.

That day during the volleyball practice.

"Team! Gather around!" the couch instructed.

The entire team stopped practicing and gathered near the coach.

"As all of you know, we were lacking one player and because of that we couldn't register our team for any matches. But today I have a good news! We have found our final lead player! Here he comes!"

Kate and everyone else in the team turned their heads and saw a guy in sports jersey and shorts jogging towards them. He was probably doing warm up exercises earlier and hence had sweat over his face. He was wiping his sweat by pulling his jersey to his face, exposing his toned abs and a perfect 'V'. His arms were muscular and tanned. His body was also in the most perfect shape. He looked more mature than any college student. His height of 6'5 was something everyone would be jealous of.

After wiping his face he let go of his jersey, exposing his handsome and radiant face. Kate suddenly felt her heart tightening. 'He could be a model...or even find a sugar mommy easily with that structure and face' she thought.

He came closer towards the coach and stood beside him and looked at Kate. Kate saw him staring at her and she immediately broke the eye contact with him. 'Why did it feel like a Déjà vu?'

"Young lad! Introduce yourself!"

"Hello. I'm Sou Cyril, Japanese-American. I am in the sophomore year of AI & CS. Kate is my bench mate."

Kate's mouth twitched. 'This guy.... why did he make it sound like we are a couple? When did we become so close? We didn't even talk once!'

Cyril looked at Kate and gave a faint smile while Kate avoided his gaze.... again.

"Hoho! Kate and you are together! Nice nice!! Kate is an extremely professional player! And of course one of the most talented in our college and team! Since you are already familiar with the game and the rules you don't really need to know anything. But just in case you have any difficulties, Senior Kate would help you! Wouldn't you Kate?"

"Yes coach." Kate replied.

"Thank you.... Senior Kate."

Kate glared at him. 'Weren't they in the same class? And he was probably older than her. Why was he calling her Senior?'

"Okay okay let's continue with the practice now! Cyril you can join in!"

Cyril nodded and joined the team.

After three hours of practice..

"Okay team! That's enough for today! Let's wrap up! It was a good game! But you all need to improve a lot! We'll work harder from tomorrow, now that we have a complete team!"

"Yes coach!"

Kate went back to the changing room and changed into a fresh jersey and paired it with black tights. She pulled her hair to the top into a bun. She left the changing room and was connecting her phone to her Bluetooth earphones while walking outside.

While on Cyril's side... he took a quick shower and changed as fast as he could. He didn't want to miss Kate. When he walked out he saw Kate walking out as well. She didn't notice him but he... when he looked at her, his heart stopped beating for a while.... his girl.. *cough* *cough* this girl was looking so sexy. She was wearing a grey sleeveless jersey along with black tights and running shoes. It accentuated her hourglass figure too much. He saw other guys staring at her back and had the sudden urge of popping every guy's eyes out of their socket for staring at his girl *cough* *cough* this girl like that.

In her hand, he saw her connecting her Bluetooth earphones to her phone and putting them in her ears while strapping her phone to her left arm. He immediately ran up to her and.....

"Kate?"

Kate was busy strapping her phone to her arm. She got startled when Cyril called her name.

Kate turned around to see Cyril standing in front of her. His hair was wet and was dripping. He probably took a shower. He had changed into a comfortable t-shirt and a denim jeans. His outfit with his messy and wet hair gave him a wild vibe. She was a bit surprised.

Behind him, girls from other practices and teams were swooning over him.

"Ahhhh!! He's so hot!!! Oh my god!!!"

"Shit! Why is he talking to Kate! Damn! That sl*t"

"She must have said something to seduce him back in the lecture! Huh! Such a bitch! Just because she's pretty she thinks everybody will like her!?"

"Whatever man!!!! But he is damn sexy!!! I want to bear his babies!!"

"Hey! Hey get in line!"

Kate's mouth twitched... again. 'Damn this mouth twitching! I need to go the doctor. This guy is giving me diseases!'

'And, isn't this guy a little too good looking? Also, why is he staring at me like that?'

"Yeah? You want something?" Kate said in a cold tone.

"Yeah.. actually....."

"What?"

Cyril took a deep breath and then in a single breath he spoke....

"Kate will you be my girlfriend?"
