GETTING JEALOUS OVER NOTHING

"Finally, you're home."

The moment Meixiu opened the door, Chaoxiang popped up in front of her saying those words. He looked serious, as if he is planning something evil. Is he going to hurt her again?

"I'm sorry I was so wrapped up with work."

"Have you watched my show today?"

"Uh, I didn’t."

This time, Meixiu is honest upon saying no. She plans to watch the interview after she got home. The fans are saying a lot of things happened and Chaoxiang was able to express himself so much. With them saying that Chaoxiang got pretty awkward upon the interviewer asking him about a lot of women, Meixiu got so intrigued about watching the segment.

"You were rumored to date Liwei?"

"Mr. Zuo is nothing to me than a good friend. I do admit, we've been friends since we were in high school but there's nothing more than that."

"Did he come to your office when you were sick?"

"He did visit me maybe once or twice."

"Now, everyone knows Liwei married Ruomei. You were misunderstood and people told you you're being a slut."

"Are you afraid it could affect your image? You don't have to worry about it. It's not like we're going to reveal our marriage anytime soon."

"Meixiu!"

And he grabbed her by the shoulders and squeezed her gently. That's not his concern. He is worried about her getting wronged again. She already mentioned she was sick in the past few weeks but people didn't care about it and only focused on the rumored affair. No one asked about her condition, no one worried if her illness or serious or not.

"I am seriously worried about you. You're not even a celebrity to get involved with such issues."

"I don't need people's sympathy either."

"Have you defended yourself?"

"There's no need to do that. As far as I'm concerned, people would be more intrigued about the man who comes to my office with a complete cover on his face, a hoodie and a pair of sunglasses. It just happens that no one captures a photo of you that's why it never became an issue."

"Are you saying I should visit you more often?"

"You're making me laugh. If you don't want to get involve, don't ever think of visiting my office again."

"You aren't really afraid of those trolls are you?"

"I've been judged all my life. It isn't something new. However, if it could affect my mom's business, I would probably clear things out."

"What would be your reaction if I'm going to say I am jealous about you and Liwei?"

"You're getting jealous over nothing then."

"You have to prove it until you convince me."

"Do you see me thinking about other guys?"

"Are you saying you're thinking about me?"

"I do. If I think about my husband, would it be a crime?"

Now she's claiming it. Calling him her husband makes Chaoxiang's ears turn red. There is something about it, especially when you get to remember her saying that she'll only get married once so she will do everything to make it successful. If this is Meixiu's romantic side then Chaoxiang has to accept that her words are really powerful. It has that power to melt his core in a way he can't explain.

"Would you excuse me? My socials have been so toxic lately and I need to clean it.", Meixiu tried to excuse herself but Chaoxiang stopped her.

"Meixiu, is that your romantic side?"

"You haven't heard me saying my sincerest and purest I love you yet, don't get too proud of yourself."

"Meixiu..."

And Chaoxiang ended up laughing with her joke. He felt embarrassed not just because Meixiu didn't really confess to him in a romantic way but also because he can't admit to himself that she can make him laugh. It's not a wonder why his interviewer from earlier is respecting Meixiu so much. She uses her head with her statements and it is satisfying to see a woman who fights back with her words. That sounds diplomatic and cool.

It's a thing she never saw in Suyin. That woman for sure will grab someone's hair and can even break a bone if she wants to. Both of them are empowered in their own way. But Meixiu acts more civil and proper than Suyin. You can't even tell that Chaoxiang and her always argue at night for she always acts nice to him.

"You are really beautiful in that photo. I never expect that from you.", Chaoxiang confessed.

"It’s so sad you hate this so called ‘pretty business woman’."

Meixiu tried acting like she is fine but she totally isn't. Did he just compliment her? Since when did he start appreciating the way she looks? Why did it sound so cute and gentle at the same time?
