“What would a little rain matter when I am with the woman I love?” I asked. “I want the whole world to know what we mean to each other.”

“Okay, Rabi, if that’s what you want,” she said without enthusiasm.

I just looked at her, seeing she was not keen on the idea. My jealousy began to return. In my mind I could see Jean Claude with his arm around her once more. I reasoned that she would be more enthusiastic if he had asked her to spend the day with him. Maybe I should give him the chance.

“You know, I think I need to be alone tonight. I think you need a little time to think about my request for what we are going to do tomorrow.”

“Rabi! You’ve never left me on the weekend like this. What is this all about?”

“Just think about what I said. If you want to be with me tomorrow, out in public, then I’ll be back. Otherwise, never mind.” I walked out the door, being careful not to slam it behind me, although I would have liked to have knocked it off its hinges.
