The nurse did not respond but scrutinized Li Yan from head to toe.

Ning Zhi had been hospitalized for many days, and the nurse had watched her every move. Other than her young colleague who frequently visited, she had not seen anyone else appear—not even the child's father.

The man in front of her was unfamiliar, so she asked him who he was.

The nurse nodded and remembered Ning Zhi's request, she spoke up, "Afraid of pain? She's stronger than you think. She didn't even get any anesthesia for her stitches."

Li Yan was once again baffled. He remembered how Ning Zhi would get teary-eyed and seek comfort from him even for a small injury. Could that be an act?

Li Yan couldn't make sense of it. Seeing that the nurse had already entered the room, he was afraid that she might suddenly wake up, so he hastily left.

Ning Zhi was awakened by the noise outside. She looked up and happened to catch a glimpse of Li Yan leaving in a hurry.

Ning Zhi persuaded herself that she could leave the hospital once the nurse removed her stitches today.

She needed to focus on the bright side—she could leave Li Yan soon.

Later, she found out from Secretary Huang that the assailant that day was He Tong's boyfriend.

What provoked him was that He Tong gave him up as soon as she was caught.

"Good morning, CEO and Madam." Secretary Liang greeted them and gestured behind his back for everyone to return to work.
