Chapter 4: First money and challenge

Dingggggggggg!!!!!!!

The alarm clock rang, marking the new day. Kim was still lying in bed already awake. He slowly got up and got ready for school.

He went down the stairs to breakfast.

"Good morning," Kim said while yawning.

"Kang-Dae sits down to eat, there are cereals for breakfast," Kim's mom said.

Kim suddenly noticed that there were 2 familiar faces next to him.

"Kang-Dae, don't forget that today is your turn to take out the trash," said the little girl with dark brown hair and green eyes. Kim was amazed to see his sister and brother after so many years.

Through a sneer, he said "Youra..Jung, is it you"

Kim barely held back his tears. He remembered how his younger sister in the future suddenly cut off all contact with her family and disappeared, which hit him hard because they were very close as a family.

His memory was interrupted by the voice of his younger brother Mok "What's wrong brother"

Kim turned and saw a boy with dark hair like his and blue eyes a little lighter than his.

He remembered how his brother died in a fight, because he was overpowered, and the culprit was never found.

Kim stood up and hugged them both tightly and spoke through tears

" And I had a bad dream about losing you two forever.."Mok and Youra were so surprised that they couldn't say a word.

Although this was a very touching scene, it was interrupted by their mom's angry voice,

"Kang-Dae, you're too old to cry, hurry up, you'll be late for the station." she said grumbling,

"Youra and Mok were with their aunt for one day, and you're crying as if you haven't seen them all your life!!" she added.

"I haven't!!" thought Kim , and then gently lowered his brother and sister.

Kim wasted too much time, so he didn't have breakfast.

"If you had cried less, you would have had time to eat, here is the money for the snack," she said, handing the money to Kim.

She gave him 6 dollars, which was twice as much as usual. Kim's face suddenly changed from sad and angry to happy and excitedly.

"This..is..my first money!!" he thought.

"Thanks mom" said Kim taking the money from her hand, then he grabbed his bag and rushed to the station.

Kim didn't make it to the train, but knowing that his mom would scold him, he decided to take a walk.

While passing through the streets of his town, he saw a man sitting on the street begging passers-by for money,it was a beggar.

He looked like he was 30-40 years old, his clothes were dirty, he had long untidy hair and a beard, but apart from that he had no physical defects or looked sick.

Kim hated beggars, he considered them lazy people who get money without any effort.

Kim decided to just walk past him, but then he heard a whining voice "I have nothing to eat, give it to the poor".

Kim was so frustrated by the fact that people make money in such a corrupt way. He decided to tell this to the beggar.

He turned his eyes towards the beggar and said, "Of course you have nothing to eat, you don't even do anything. Instead of spending your days here begging for money, I advise you to find a job," he said angrily.

The beggar looked at him and spoke "Do you think that I ask for money because I want it, I do not deny that there are those who take advantage of poor people in this way, but do I look like one of them to you? Trust me, it is not easy to earn money when you are in my situat-"

Kim interrupted the beggar"I bet I could make money even if I was a beggar"Kim said confidently and just as he turned to walk on he heard the beggar's voice again "Can you stand by your words?"

"Of course I can, that's easy, have you ever heard of the Internet?" said Kim.

The beggar laughed and then spoke" Then I challenge you to earn 10 dollars on deadline of 3 months, but without investing money that you already have"

Kim just looked at the beggar for a few seconds and then suddenly spoke "I agree, if I lose I will buy you food every day"

"In 3 months we will meet again here.I hope you will succeed" said the beggar, smiling and non-malevolent.

This last sentence confused Kim, he did not expect the beggar to be so kind even though he had insulted him before.

"Deal" said Kim and went on his way.
