Chapter 22 It Is a Sin to Covet

Corey had already caught up with the woman on the third floor. Since I was on the second floor, I couldn't hear what they were saying. However, I could see Corey excitedly waving his hands as he spoke to her.

I crouched to pack up the things that had fallen out of the shopping bags. Regardless of what had happened, I was still pregnant, and I would use those things.

I took the escalator to the first floor with the shopping bags in hand, where I hailed a taxi to the Maplewood Area.

When I reached Corey's house, I packed my things and put them into a box. I planned to leave with Luke when he returned from school.

Although I didn't know who the woman was, it was pretty obvious how important she was to Corey given how much he cared about the items related to her. No matter how much I wished things were different, I knew my place and limits.

After I finished packing, I felt a pang of sadness as I surveyed the room that had become familiar to me. It was a sin to covet.
