However, after the disintegration of the Soviet Union, the guerrillas that had lost external support quickly deteriorated, and now they have basically survived on hostages and drugs. Not only did their numbers decrease significantly, but they also moved completely from the city into the remote border mountains.

It was impossible to describe in plain words the chaos in the country. A drama did depict some of these phenomena, and its name was the same as the theme it wanted to express, "Narcos".
