The next day.
The blazing meridian sun shone relentlessly in the cottage. A silhouette stirred in his sleep and in seconds, his eyes were opened. He raised his body from the comfy thing under him and turned to the other side to find it empty.
I shouldn't have had any hope.
He took his jacket and rose. The fire he had started the night before was already off. He wandered around the room to find a pot by the wood and a towel beside him.
It wasn't a dream after all. She did take care of him last night.
His lips curved upward as he smiled. It was all worth it.
He left the cottage and was met by his men and the owners of the house. He put on his shade and smiled at the couple before him.
"Thanks for lending me your place for the night," He said coldly. The old couple smiled back at him.
"You must love that woman a lot, I can see it" She patted his shoulder.
Feng Li hummed and left the place.
Inside the car, Feng Li was lost in thought when one of his men handed something to him from the passenger seat.
"Boss, I think you should see this"
Feng Li observed the envelope in his hands. He asked, "What is in it, CK?"
CK replied "Something relating to lady boss". Hearing her name, Feng Li hummed and opened the envelope. He took out the picture in it and observed them one after the other. Reaching the last picture, his hand froze as he saw someone he never thought he would see. He returned the other photos to CK and kept the last one to himself.
"I want you to find out the relationship between those two" He ordered.
"Yes boss"
Feng Li looked at the picture once more and frowned.
How are you related to this girl, little friend??. Whatever relationship you have with her, I must find out.
"Ahem, boss...this letter was sent for you" CK passed the paper to him. Feng Li collected it and read it. From the start he frowned but reaching the end, his lips curled.
We will meet again, my beloved. He grinned.
"Take me to the office" He ordered. The driver nodded and turned around in the direction of the Feng Corporation.
..........
"Mummy...mummy, someone sent this to you" Alvina beamed as she ran to her mother.
"Will you stop running?" Her sister scolded.
"Mummy see" Alvina handed the envelope to the tired Kiara. Kiara returned her smile with a weak one and collected the envelope from her youngest daughter.
"What's in it, mama?" The little girl stretched her head to the paper curiously. Ayra was annoyed with her sister's behaviour. She scolded.
"Alvina, haven't you been taught 'Privacy' in school?" She glared. Alvina puffed her cheeks and glared back at her sister.
"Have someone told you that you talk too much?" She retorted. Ayra's face darkened to the darkest of black as she stared eyes to eye with her sister "You!!"
Alvina stuck her tongue out and hissed before she faced her mother back. "So what does it says?"
Unconsciously, Kiara replied "It says doom"
"What?" Alvina widened her eyes, waking her mother from her daze. Realising what she had said, Kiara chuckled nervously and kissed her cheeks "What I meant to say is...umm...zoom"
"Zoom? What's that?" The curious girl asked.
"I have a meeting on zoom" She cleared. Alvina nodded her head in understanding.
"Why don't you two go to your room and play? Mama is too tired and needs some rest"
"Ok mummy," The two said together and left still glaring at each other.
Alvina wanted to say something but Ayra shushed her
