Something With You

Charles dragged his steps.  She didn't want to be there at the clinic doing her job.  For the first in seven years, she really didn't want to work!

The young woman was walking nonchalantly in the corridors when she passed her superior;  it was LONG Fan.

He gave her a benevolent smile to which Charles answered with ignorance.  Fan laughed and opened the door to his office for him -like a gentleman-, inviting him to enter but Charles pushed him inside, unflattered by this gesture.

Fan sat down on the desk and then spoke:

– You understood well ?  Be...

– Long, I'm a doctor, not a shrink.  she cut him off annoyed

– You see!  he despaired,

That's what I want to avoid!  This kind of...

– Enough to ?

– Franchise!  That kind of abrupt frankness.  Listen...

He leaned over to face her.

– This way of being Jinger, Sehun and I are used to it... But the man in this room doesn't know it and doesn't need it, do you understand that?

She says nothing. Charles stood up, taking the folder with her.  Before leaving her office, she said:

– You know very well that... that there is no longer any chance, but you would like me to mirror a dream to him?

Fan sighed and replied:

– Richard, it's not about that.  What you have to do is.. how shall I put it.. Here it is!  Limit the damage.  He's already drooling enough.  Can you do that please?

Again the response was not immediate.  She peered once again at the file she held in her hand.  This stated that the patient was not particularly dangerous, but he had suffered from long years of depression and anxiety.  A real headache.  She says before closing the door behind her.

– The question is : Should we reduce the pain or simply cauterize the wound despite the pain?  Hmm...

She sketched a smile.

"I'll do my best anyway.  I learned to lie perfectly anyway.

– Richard you...

Fan didn't have time to place another one.  As always, with each hidden confession from Charles, the young woman always made sure to change the subject or flee before her interlocutor had time to retort.

It was only an annoying habit with her;  leave to avoid any relapses into this inner "she".

Her shield was that smile she displayed as if to illustrate her "I'm fine".  But it was all just a mirage she had been clinging to for five years already.  And not wanting to show her deep attachment to the past, Charles did everything to plunge anyone around her into this illusory world she had created for herself...

She erected a wall between herself and those around her.  But today, this barrier would seem to be blocked.

The very thought of entering this room again made her stomach ache.  How should she face him?

...

Outside the door, Charles took a deep breath before pushing it open.  She wore a broad smile and greeted her patient warmly.  Then she sat down on the empty seat to the left of the bed on which the young man was lying.

He stared silently into space.

He didn't seem to have noticed the doctor's presence in the room.

" Do I have to...? "

Suddenly a man entered the room and cut Charles' thoughts short.

The man had obviously brought food;  he put the wrappers on a table and then greeted her politely.  The young man who had just entered looked very calm, wise.

He asked Charles to give him a minute in private.  She nodded and followed him out of the room.

"Uh..." he started.

Jin is not very communicative, or if he tells you something, it might shock you, but please don't hold it against him.

– I understand Mr. Ha.  I wasn't planning on making small talk, I'm just doing my job, don't worry.

Charles had been reassuring.  The man smiled at her then thanked her with a nod before leaving, promising to come back at night.

Before entering, Charles glanced at the time on his watch before entering the room and sat down again.  Finally for the first time, his eyes met hers.  They were murderous black, spellbinding.  Charles said nothing and he was staring at her.  Then, Jinwook broke the silence in the room:

– Hello.

– Hm..., replied Charles, opening the file placed on his thighs, Hello Mr. Song you...

– Call me Jinwook, no false politeness.  And you, what's your name?

"It's strange, he looks... different."

– Hm... Call me doctor Richardson.

She smiled at him, and her smile surprisingly returned him.  Then the young man said to her:

– I see... No one wants to break the ice, it seems.  It doesn't matter, I'll just watch you then, beautiful things are made to be admired, aren't they?

Charles looked up but didn't answer.  She didn't quite grasp the terrain on which her patient wanted to embark;  or she wished not to know, so she hardly cares.

...

After a few minutes of observing silence again, it was Charles's turn to take the lead.

– Good...

– Yes finally!  Jinwook exclaimed, closing the book he was reading earlier.

Charles was surprised at this reaction, but showed no emotion.  As if nothing had happened, she continued:

– Good.  You are going to take part in a question-and-answer game.  If you don't know an answer or don't want to answer, the question will be deleted and we'll move on to another... And if you want to shorten the session, let me know.  Is that clear ?

He looked away for a moment, then agreed with a nod and a weak smile.  In this angelic face showed no ounce of hostility, however, this meeting with the banal occurrence will become a real psychological torture.

Long Fan and Charles nourished a close friendship, such that the young woman did not need to express any word to him so that he could apprehend some evil that was torturing her.  But for him, the real liberation of Charles had to go through this stage of coming out to which she absolutely did not want to submit.  So far, it hadn't affected his skills much, today the situation had changed.  Charles had allowed himself to be overwhelmed by emotions, and if this was learned, his career as well as that of his boss would be threatened by the council of the clinic.certainly, the measure showed draconian, but Charles left no choice, she had to stay in the lions' den until she learned to tame them.
