Chapter 3

In the mountain passageway leading to the next floor, Elvis was understanding how the system and his skills worked.

For a dragon, his abilities aren't much, but weirdly, he was even surprised that since he was a fire dragon, he didn't have fire immunity instead of cold resistance.

"Why don't I have fire immunity?" He felt that it was only logical for him to have fire immunity instead of resistance.

[Host has not triggered the evolution of the fire resistance], the system replied to him. "Huh, evolution. Then how did I acquire cold immunity?" Elvis was confused.

The system didn't respond. "Alright, what about the devourer's ability?" Elvis decided to let it be and move on.

[Devourer: the ability to devour anything magical or non-magical.The devourer skills allow you to gain the ability to consume anything you kill and eat].

He doesn't need to ask about regeneration because it is an obvious ability. Elvis got to a lower cave, but all he saw was a room that had a sparkling lake passing through it.

He got closer because for him to continue his journey, he had to cross the lake to the other side. When he saw the lake, he thought, "If only I could fly."

Standing at the edge of the lake, Elvis was pondering how to get across this lake.

When he was still a human back on earth, he couldn't swim, so he wasn't even sure if he could swim in this new body form now. "It can't be that hard; all I've got to do is paddle like a dog with this new body, right?" So Elvis decided to give it a go.

One foot first into the water before the other, he fully emerged himself into the lake, although he wasn't sinking and he wasn't swimming either; he was just floating.

He tried his best to paddle, but he realized it was a foolish idea because it didn't even work; he was just splashing water.

In the lake, a fish that resembled a shark with the only difference being a short, sharp unicorn horn on its head and a single eye, jumped out of the water, wanting to swallow him.

[Warning: One eye horn fish], The system alerted.

Out of his dragon instincts, he spat out a blazing flame, roasting the fish before it could gulp down Elvis.

[New skill learned: blazing flame]

"Woah," Elvis was shocked that his flame was powerful.

(Boom!) The fish crashed down into the lake lifeless.

"Well, I can say this is a blessing in disguise, and I can test out the devourer's ability."

[Devourer activated] A black vortex opened in his mouth and sucked the fish whole.

Elvis: ⊙⁠﹏⁠⊙

[Analyzing…25%....50%....75%.....100%] [Skills gained: fish gills, water blast, water blade, water movement].

When Elvis saw the water movement skill, which is equivalent to swimming, he was overjoyed.

He felt familiar with the water as if it were his friend. He began to swim, not wanting to stay in the lake any longer.

Under the lake, more one-eyed hornfish began to swim towards Elvis real fast.

One-eyed fish all move in packs, which Elvis didn't know about, so he wasn't on guard against more of the fish.

Underneath the water, one of the eyed fish was targeting Elvis' foot.

The young dragon, who was already happy that he could swim, felt a sharp, piercing pain in his right foot.

"Arrrgh" One of the one-eyed hornfish bit Elvis' leg off.

Due to the effect of pain resistance, the pain he was feeling drastically reduced, and his regeneration ability kicked in.

The lake turned blood red, and the one-eyed fish began to appear on the surface of the water.

"Holy moly!" Elvis panicked because fighting in the water against this bunch of fish will be detrimental to him.

One of the fish got closer to Elvis, jumping up in the air, just to swallow its opponent like the previous fish.

Elvis couldn't swim yet because his leg hasn't fully regenerated.

"Water Blade" Elvis spat out a liquid from his mouth that took the shape of a half-moon.

(Swish) The water blade cut the fish in two, but that didn't stop the other fishes who saw it from cowering away in fear. Instead, they spat out their water blades.

"Crap," Elvis thought if he should use his fire to counterattack, just that he wasn't sure if it would work.

So he dove down under the water, and gills appeared on both sides of his neck, allowing him to breathe under the water properly. He began to swim underneath the water, and because of his new skill, he swam fast as the one-eyed horn fishes chased after him.

[Water movement; water blade; water blast] [Do you want to merge skills?] [Y/N].

Although he was in a drastic situation, Elvis believed that the system might have something in store that might affect him, so he chose yes.

[Affirmative] [Merging skills] [Skill Evolution] [Water manipulation].

[Congratulations! You have unlocked the water dragon attributes].

Due to the continuous usage of the water skills, they got upgraded. Elvis was confused, but being a smart man back on earth, he was able to come up with an idea.

"Water manipulation" means I can now manipulate water at my will, so I hope this works, Elvis thought.

He stopped swimming and faced the incoming enemies. "Water dragon attack," Elvis roared, conjuring up powerful water magic.

The waters swirled together, forming a huge water snake dragon phantom behind him that ran violently toward the fish. "Roarrrr '' The water snake dragon swam fast with its mouth open, biting the fishes and killing them off; after that, it vanished.

[New skill gained: water snake dragon] [Skill added to water manipulation]

Elvis jubilated when he finally killed all the fish monsters chasing him, but he quickly swam away and left the lake in case more terrifying sea monsters might be lurking. He swam out of the lake, dripping wet.

He shook his body like a puppy would to get the water off him. Just as he got out, he met a three-headed black snake staring at him, as if it were expecting his arrival.

[Warning: Three-headed medusa snake]

Elvis felt like crying, "Why are these monsters targeting me?"
