Should Have Listened

Ryan still looked at Elaine expectantly after she said what was on her mind.

He hoped that Elaine would probably agree to his proposal. Barry does look like someone who is calm and reliable, but he should be aware that his skills are not that good.

Elaine put on a face that was difficult for Ryan to read and it made him feel a little uneasy. However, her next words made Ryan grin.

"Maybe you're right. But, we'll have to confirm that later."

"Sure. Sure! We have to see for ourselves how he acts. If he's really useless, we can leave him."

Elaine still had that expression that Ryan couldn't read. But, that should be enough for now. Elaine wasn't that sure about Barry that is why she still wanted to make sure.

At that moment, Barry returned to their place. He opened the door carefully, entered the room, then closed the door again.

"What did you find?" Elaine asked.

"I don't know, but there's something that looks dangerous at the end of the northern corridor," Barry answered. "We shouldn't go through there."

"That's the path closest to the gate," Ryan said with a frown that looked disapproving.

"Yes. But... my instincts say that the corridor is dangerous. We have to find another way."

"Could it be that your instincts are wrong?" Ryan looked at Barry with narrowed eyes in suspicion.

Barry started to get annoyed with Ryan who kept refuting his words. But, Barry admitted that he hadn't seen anything. Its just his instinct that tells him to stay away from that corridor.

"What do you think, Elaine? That's the closest way. We have to get out of this school as soon as possible and get help! If we have to look for another way it will take longer." Barry looked at Elaine demandingly.

Elaine was silent for a moment and turned to Barry.

"Well, actually. I haven't seen anything there. However, my instincts tell me that we shouldn't go that way," Barry said. "If you want to go that way, it's up to you. I'll follow."

Barry shurgged his shoulder. He had looked at his stats earlier and saw that his Magic Power had almost regenerated to full.

He also actually wanted to get out of this school quickly. If his instincts are wrong, then he will just waste a lot of time.

But if their instincts are right, they will face a grave danger. So, Barry has to use his Gravity Manipulation. He somehow believed that it was a powerful skill that could save him.

Also, he has to kill strong enemies in order to become stronger. Barry decides to take the challenge.

"We should just go that way. Carefully," Elaine said. She sucked her lower lip, a sign that she was anxious. But that was the fastest way to get out of this school so she decided to take it.

Ryan smiled with satisfaction because his suggestion was approved by Elaine. Meanwhile, Barry just nodded briefly with a flat expression.

They left the classroom and headed for the corridor. Once again, Barry felt that dreadful feeling in his guts. He gripped his dagger and chose to slow down his pace, allowing Ryan and Elaine to walk in front.

They entered the corridor and walked without any obstacles. In just a little while they will arrive at the front of the school and finally, the front gate.

"There's nothing here. Just say it if you're scared," Ryan said while looking at Barry with disdain. He shook his head as if he couldn't understand Barry. "If we obey your words, we will waste too much time."

Ryan glanced at Elaine as if to say that Barry would indeed just be a burden. But Elaine just continued to put on a flat face that was hard to read.

She turned her face forward. "Focus. We're still not out of danger."

Behind them, Barry stared at Ryan with narrowed eyes. His annoyance increased drastically in a matter of seconds.

But he restrained himself, for now. Maybe he really should work with someone as annoying as him for some time. Until he can get out of here.

*BOOM!*

The three of them were immediately shocked when they heard the sound of the explosion. Barry acted for the first time. He turned his body around while placing his dagger in front of his body.

'It's from the back!'

Barry hadn't had time to see the figure before a huge punch shot towards him.

*DANG!*

Luckily, Barry managed to block that punch with his dagger. But the force behind the punch sent him flying backwards.

Ryan immediately used his Quick Step and ran away, leaving Elaine behind.

Elaine, who had seen that huge zombie, used her Lightning Manipulation. She spread her hands towards the giant zombie then fired two lightning bolts from both her hands.

*ZAP!*

*ZAP!*

The giant zombies were pushed back several meters. But, Elaine's lighting attack which can usually scorch ordinary zombies only causes small burns on the giant zombie's body.

"Shit!"

Elaine immediately knew that what she was facing was not the same zombie as the one she had faced before. This is something different. Her instinct screamed.

It turns out that what Barry felt earlier was true. They shouldn't have gone this way.

The giant zombie - about 3 meters tall with a body consisting only of bulky dark-red muscles - lets out an angry grunt. Then he started walking towards Elaine.
