Next Place To Go

Barry walked by himself toward the basement of this huge house. He never removes his vigilant eyes from his surroundings.

Outside, he saw that the sun had begun to fall from the top of the sky. Time continued to move towards night.

'I have to hurry!'

Barry gritted his teeth. His mother and sister are trapped in their house now. There's no way for them to find a bunker like Elaine's family.

'If I don't come to save them soon...'

Barry didn't dare continue his train of thought. He couldn't imagine a bad thing happening to them.

He finally arrived at the secret door that Elaine said. He opened a painting of a lion and found a button and pressed it.

A moment after he pressed the button, the wall in front of him moved to the right, revealing a tunnel that led him underground.

The lamps that lined the walls turned on automatically when Barry walked up the first stairs. He continued without thinking about the fairly advanced motion sensor technology.

He walked down the stairs for about thirty seconds before finally arriving at its base.

Barry could act more relaxed now because the door to this place was sealed tight. There shouldn't be any monsters in this place.

Even so, he can't become relaxed. An unexpected situation may occur.

Barry arrived in front of a steel door. There is a panel where he has to enter a code to open the door.

Barry pressed the code that Elaine gave and the door opened by itself.

Behind the steel door was a room 5x5 meters wide. Barry thought that he would find a room wider than this considering that this was the armory of this rich family.

But it turns out, this room is more than enough to store a lot of weapons.

Barry didn't know much about weaponry. But at least he knows about several famous types of weapons.

Among the weapons here he saw three M416 assault rifles, MP5 SMGs, and few other cool-looking rifles.

One thing that just became a shame when he saw all the firearms was, he couldn't shoot that well.

He can do martial arts well because of his passive skill. But he didn't possess any firearm combat skills.

But at least it will be better if he has a gun than not. So, he took an M416 rifle along with a few magazines.

'Even though I don't know how to use it, I can at least intimidate people with this, right?'

He also took a tactical backpack and put several more grenades in there.

Barry scanned his surroundings to look for anything he could take with him.

And then, he found it.

'Swords!'

Barry immediately walked towards the shelf that held swords and daggers. He took out a sword and two daggers.

He wore a tactical belt and attached his sword and daggers to the belt.

Barry felt his preparations were enough. He can't waste time here anymore because he's in a hurry.

As soon as he was about to leave the room he saw Elaine walking under him.

"You want to go straight away?" Elaine asked. She already looks fit again.

"Yes," Barry answered as he walked past her.

"I'll come with you."

Barry stopped, turning to look at her. "Are you sure? Don't you want to go to your bunker?"

"I can't possibly go alone," Elaine said.

After her fight, she became increasingly convinced that the dangers lurking out there were too overwhelming for her to face alone.

She needs Barry as an ally to help her reach her parents.

Barry can't help but feel that Elaine only intends to use him to be able to follow her mother to the bunker alpha. However, having a traveling companion like Elaine can't be said to be a bad thing.

"Where is the exact location of your bunker?" Barry asked.

"The bunker is near Webber City."

Barry frowned. "Isn't it located near the port?"

"Yes." Elaine nodded with a troubled expression.

Port Webber is many kilometers away from here. With the world in its current state, exploring such a long distance would be a very dangerous journey.

But it seems that for now there is no safer place than this conglomerate family's bunker. So that could be a good destination for now.

Until, of course. Barry can find another closer safer place.

He can take Elaine along for the ride until he finds the bunker or the closer safer place for them to stay after rescuing his family.

"Alright. But we have to go to my house first," Barry said.

"Yes. Of course." Elaine looked relieved.

"Take your weapon. Can you use a gun?" Barry asked.

"Not really. I haven't had time to learn how to shoot."

Even so, Elaine immediately took her weapons.

After finishing taking the weapons, they immediately packed some food that would not rot quickly. After that, they left the mansion to continue their journey.

Elaine drives a 4WD car that looks sturdy. She said it was her first time driving the car but Barry didn't think it was a problem.

In a moderately moving car, Barry takes the crystal he got from Frank's group members which contains healing skills.

However, he sighed in disappointment when he saw a warning.

[ Warning! You have reached the limit of the skills you can have at this Level! You can discard one of your skills or give up on this skill. ]

'Damnit.'

Barry decides to keep the crystal for now.
