My New Dragon Family

As I was thinking that, I heard a large rumbling outside followed by flapping sounds.

I wonder what could that be?

'It seems your mother is arriving right on time. She will be elated upon hearing of your successful birth.'

Birth? Also, mother? I guess I would have a mother in this world, huh? I wonder how she will look?

I tried to imagine what my mother would look like but was immediately greeted with the image of another scary dragon. I immediately put a stoop to that.

Well, I hope she is a nice woman, at least.

'Come, little one. Let us go greet your mother and help her with bringing in today's dinner.'

'Y-Yes, sir!'

I wonder what would a dragon need help with?

I save that thought for later as I followed the large dragon out of the cave. His large frame was actually quite nimble as it masterfully avoided the sharp turns in the cave system. It also kept turning back to look at me as I followed behind it. The dragon kinda seemed like a parent who needed to be sure their child was still near them.

'This really is a large cave!' I couldn't help but be drawn into each nook and cranny in the cave. Though, this time I could only look from afar since I was meeting someone, I vowed to explore the entire cave system when I had time.

Eventually, the dragon stopped and I followed suit.

It seems he was looking at something at the entrance. I squeezed past him to see what was stopping him. At the entrance was a human woman. She was wearing some kind of blue silk gown that went all the way down to her bare feet. I could also see her pointed ears from this distance. It seems my eyesight was very strong in this world.

'So beautiful! The most beautiful woman I had ever laid eyes on! Ah, it was for this one sight that I had been reincarnated~ A world-class beauty~ Her golden hair is akin to silk~ Her eyes an ocean of blue~ Her breasts are that bad, either! Yup! She is definitely my type.'

She was holding a massive crate over her head and with one hand, no less.

'Woah! Well, I like strong women, too. I'm not too picky.'

'My love, you have returned from your visit to the human settlement nearby. I hope the trip went well.'

'Oh, so that's his woman then? Good for him...Wait, what?!'

'It was fine, my love~ They were very grateful for my help, so they treated me with a fair bit of their agricultural surplus~' I noticed her eyes meet mine causing me to grow a bit flustered. 'Maybe, she realized I was ogling her...'

'Myneas, this is our son. He's finally broken out of his shell.'

'Wait, did he just say I was his son? Wait! And that's my...No way! Don't tell me I had the hots for my mother!! I don't want to be a real-life Oedipus!!"

In my shock, I noticed the woman called Myneas had put down the large crate. The loud sound it made brought me back to my senses. I could then hear sobbing as she tried to wipe away the tears in her eyes. I was shocked at how quickly the atmosphere changed. I decided to go up to comfort her. 'I wasn't able to be someone who could easily be a shoulder to cry on for a girl, but that was me from back on Earth. Now...'

'Please, don't cry! You are stronger than this, I know it!' Especially since I have just seen you carry that giant crate over there. This should be a piece of cake compared to that.

I saw that she was finally able to finish crying as she wiped the last tears from her eyes. She smiled at me though I don't know why.

'Thank you, my son.' She began to grab me out of nowhere. It seems she just wanted to hug me. I wanted to try to escape, but her strength was indeed the real deal. I was stuck getting the hug of a lifetime.

'I just hope she is careful of my claws as I would be pretty upset if I had accidentally hurt her while giving a hug...But, something tells me I wouldn't be able to hurt her if I tried.' Although she looked like an ordinary human, her strength was anything but human. Not just that, she was packing some hard muscles. 'What is she made out of? Bricks?!'

'My love, I think you should give the boy a break. He looks like he could break any minute. Hoho!'

'Nonsense! He is my son, after all! But, if you insist...' With that she let me go from her death grip. I gasped for a breath of air. 'It seems...I was able to...escape a second reincarnation for now...'

'Oh! I almost forgot about fixing dinner! Silly me~'

'It is alright honey. I will help as best as I can.'

After saying that, he tried to take something out of the crate but ended up spilling out its contents instead.

At that moment, I was recovering on the ground when I felt a most menacing aura wash over me.

'This deadly aura...It can't be!'

But it was. I looked over at the source of the powerful aura and almost died of shock right then and there. The one emitting that dreadful aura was none other than my own mother dearest. She looked like she was about to blow her gasket as she sent an icy glare to my father.

'Dear...Why don't you help me cook dinner...after you transform?' She was smiling now but behind that smile was a most threatening aura.

I looked over at my father who was now on his back foaming at the mouth. I heard that sometimes a wild animal would lay on their backs and show their belly to an opponent to show that they had no intention to fight. Does this mean that that was true?

'I guess not even he could survive that kind of intense aura being pointed at him...'

My mother then turned to me. 'Holy crap! Ahem! Yes!'

'Would you like to help me prepare dinner?'

'Yes. What did you need me to do?'

'I have a lot of vegetables today so I was thinking of making a stew. So I need to peel them before we cook them.'

'I can do that.' Before she could finish speaking, I ran over to the crate. I looked over at the fruits and vegetables inside until I saw a potato. I didn't think I would recognize the fruits and vegetables of this work, but I guess it is based upon a game created on Earth, right? So, it makes sense that there would be some fruits and vegetables based on those from that world, too. At least, these were my thoughts on it.

Now how would I peel it? I was thinking that over until I looked at my claws. 'That's right! These things are pretty sharp themselves, right? Maybe I could use this in place of a knife.'

I stuck one of my claws into the potato and turned the potato around it. The peel was easily cut through like butter with a 1,000-degree knife. In seconds, the potato was fully peeled. 'Not bad if I say so myself.' As I was feeling proud of myself, I heard a light clap from behind me.

It was my mother and she was looking at me with an impressed look.

'I never expected you to not only know what kind of ingredient I needed for a stew but to be able to peel it as well. With your claws, no less. I had knives prepared for us to use, but your way was definitely both new and something I wouldn't have thought of!'

'Crap! She's right! How could I have known what a potato was let alone how to peel one at such a young age! Also, I didn't think that dragons could use knives...How can I talk my way out of this? I don't think she would take a lame excuse like I just guessed correctly or something. I'm doomed...'

'Oh, dear! It looks like our son is a genius. At such a young age, too~ I'm so proud I could cry.'

'Hoho! That's because he is your son, my deal Myneas!'

'When did you recover?! Also, it looks like I'm in the clear for now...'

I continued to help Myneas, my mother prepare our dinner for the day. We ate dinner like an ordinary family for the most part. My father didn't really eat dinner with us as he had to go out and catch his food. I guess it was because he was literally a giant dragon but I do recall my mother saying he should have been able to transform into a human form. 'Maybe he's a little self-conscious?' I thought this but didn't really have the courage to ask. It will remain a mystery for now.

I woke up the next morning alongside Myneas today. I still feel weird referring to her as my mother as she looks like she could have been the same age as me when I was human.

I decide to get away to go and explore the cave system a little bit.

'Wow! This place is really big! I could see myself getting lost in here if I am not too careful.'

I continue walking forward as I look around. I am thankful for these crystals being here as I can see about as far as five miles ahead of me. Although that is pretty far, apparently it wouldn't be strange for a dragon to see even farther. At least, that is what I could tell from seeing Myneas in action. Last night, she was able to spot father returning from a distance greater than five miles away. I just guessed based on the average length of my arms and multiplied it a bunch.

Again, just a ballpark figure.

I found the site of my birth and used that as a landmark to make it back before anyone finds out.

There was a short, decline once I passed the birth site. I decided to take a chance and climb down it as best as I could. I could pretty use to walking around on all fours. My claws made it easier to slow down my fall.

It was no more than a 15-foot drop so I had an easier time talking myself into climbing down and exploring a bit. I've been walking for about fifteen minutes when I found the walls getting closer together. Luckily, I was just small enough to get through without becoming stuck.

'It's kinda like I'm in a dungeon crawl. Well, I don't think there were any dungeons in Arcadian Records though I never got around to finishing it...Well, maybe this world will be littered with some of the game's events and such. Well, that might be a little hard to pull off. After all, there were no set dates for the events. You just got there when you got there.'

I continue to reminisce about Arcadian Records as I traverse my way deeper into the caverns until I found myself in front of a door.

'Wait, what? There can't be any man-made structures down here in a cave. Besides, I'm sure my parents would have known about it. Well, not that you could stop a dragon from making its nest in your home. That would be like asking a clown to tell you a sad story! That's just not likely to happen!'

Although I wasn't finished with my rant, I went ahead and tried to open the door. It stood firmly in place as I pushed and kicked at it. It didn't budge one bit. 'Who even made this?! Do they not know doors are made to be opened?'

I take a few steps away before I charge at the door with all of my might. The door heaves open sending me cartwheeling forward at full force.
