My First Dungeon Boss is a... Vampire?

'... Huh?'

I looked at the spread of information set out in front of me by way of a transparent window.

I was feeling two distinct emotions as I laid my eyes on it.

Intrigue and amazement were these two emotions.

I felt intrigued by the screen in front of me that Vivi brought up. There was a clear mystique around it. I wasn't quite sure how I was seeing the same window screen that I use to see all the time on my computer back on Earth.

I was also amazed at how many elements from Arcadian Records were brought over in this world.

'That Goddess has outdone herself with this...'

I began to look over the screen, taking in every detail I could.

'Wow! There are so many skills! I even have some I didn't have before? And some are even blank...'

[??????]

'Why are there only question marks instead of actual words for a couple of them? Dang Goddess! Don't tell me she was too lazy to even fill in all the names of my skills?! Ugh! When I see her again, she is getting a piece of my mind... As for this other one...'

[God's Grace]

I have never seen or heard of this skill before in all of my time playing Arcadian Records.

Maybe it is a skill only found in ARO? No. As a proud Pay to Player, I would have heard of it. Well...at least I should have.

Nonetheless, the fact of the matter is I have new skills and I have the new knowledge that I can level up in this new world.

That must also mean that I can get stronger. If I can get stronger, eventually I can be the strongest, right?

I couldn't help but grin from ear to ear at this newfound information.

Properly utilizing the knowledge that I gained from playing Arcadian Records would allow me to become overpowered and unstoppable.

A hero amongst heroes.

A legend amongst legends.

Or an OP dragon.

Again, I heard a familiar voice call out to me.

[Level Up]

[New Stat Points are available! Where would you like to place them, brave adventurer?]

'Ah, Vivi! I almost forgot about that... New Skill Points, huh? Where should I put those?'

I looked over my many skills but couldn't decide which skill to invest points into.

I looked over the list many times over in a span of a few minutes but still, none came to mind.

'Ahh!! Why is it so hard to choose?! I just want to move on already, but this kind of stuff takes precedence, right?! Right?!'

I rolled around on the floor in agony.

It felt like my head was going to burst from trying to figure out this one decision.

'Ugh! This is just like the time I was late for class so I decided to skip the rest of the class to avoid being the center of attention! That was the right decision, right?! If I had gone to class after everyone else, they would have noticed! Once they noticed, all of their eyes would be on me and I wouldn't have been able to think straight for the rest of the school year! Ugh! Remembering that is already painful enough as it is!'

Now I was mentally exhausted and stressed out.

There was no way I could decide what skills to spend my SP on now, was there?

That is when I was jolted back to reality with that same familiar tone.

[Would you like some assistance, brave adventurer?]

'...Huh? Come again?'

[Would you like some assistance, brave adventurer?]

'I heard you the--Nevermind... You said you would assist... How?'

[I am familiar with your previous playstyle, brave adventurer! Would you like me to spend your Skill Points in your stead?]

Huh?

Huh?!

'My previous playstyle... That lazy Goddess did say she had read my past life's memories... Does that also mean she had given that information to Vivi as well?'

I sat up at that moment and began to ponder my next course of action.

If what Vivi said was true... That means she can make decisions on my behalf, based on my past life's information. So basically, she'd make decisions only I'd make and would approve of, right?

She would sort of be a second me... Hm. I'll have to be sure.

I'll have to ask Vivi some questions that only I'd know the answers to.

'Vivi before you make any rash decisions on your own, how about answering some questions first? Just so I know you can be a proper stand-in for me.'

[Of course, brave adventurer! What would like to know?]

'If I could raise my stats, which one would be raised first and foremost?'

[Defense! Oh, brave adventurer~]

Correct.

Next question, then.

'What is my favorite video game?'

Ha! Let's see how much that Goddess told you?

[Ancient Papyrus V: Skyedge]

...Correct. How much did that Goddess tell you...

'What is my favorite color?!'

[Green!]

'What do I think goes with turkey sandwiches the best?!'

[Pickles and banana peppers!]

'... Favorite novel?'

[The Journey of the Elemental Prince Swordsman!]

'I-Impossible... How could you possibly...'

I started sweating profusely as each of my questions were answered with vigor.

Every attempt to confuse Vivi has been met with complete failure as I was met at every turn with the correct answer.

Honestly, I felt like I wanted to break down and cry, but I couldn't stand losing to a disembodied voice.

I mustered up the last of my energy to fire one more question back at Vivi.

Before I knew it, I was back on my feet. A smug smirk found its way on my face.

I was now one-hundred percent confident of this last question being the most complex.

The most indecipherable, the most difficult question I could think of came to mind.

You cannot possibly know this one!

'Am I a bigger fan of breasts or butts?'

[Breast!]

'...'

I soon found myself on the floor, exhausted and now completely bereft of energy.

'... Correct...'

[Yay! Does that mean I have full control of the placement of your Skill Points now, brave adventurer?]

'...Do what you would like...'

[Will do, oh brave adventurer!]

You know, I kind of like not having to make as many decisions anymore... It's kinda relaxing. Maybe, I'll let her take the reins more often.'

I could feel the coolness of the wall beside me.

It felt nice.

'How long has it been since I came into this dungeon-like place? I wonder if mother and father have realized I am gone yet? I wonder if they are looking for me...'

I started to imagine them looking for me by putting up lost flyers around the area.

'Would that even be a thing in this world...? With their strength, I could see them destroying a whole country while trying to look for me. Ahaha... Wait!'

With their strength, it wouldn't be too unnatural for them to destroy a whole country in a bid to find their long lost child.

The terror and destruction my father could cause as a dragon alone would already be catastrophic. Mother could...

'Just thinking about her powerful glare alone would cause me to keel over in shock... I should hurry and finish exploring this place.'

I hopped to my feet and was ready to continue exploring when I heard Vivi again.

[All finished applying Skill Points, brave adventurer!]

'Oh yeah? I guess I should check out what skills you leveled up then.'

[Status]

The transparent window screen popped up in front of my view just like it did last time. Although, this time was a bit different.

To bring the window up now, I can just say or think hard about my [Status] and the screen would be brought to view by Vivi.

Let's see what it looks like now.

Huh.

Honestly, I was expecting something more.

'At least, you could have done something about lowering that hidden skill with the negative levels. Like, come on man! How do you even get negative levels?! What kind of crummy world did that Goddess send me to...'

[Did you find anything that leaves you dissatisfied, brave adventurer?]

'I suppose nothing I particularly dislike. Not enough to complain about, I think. You did a good job, Vivi.'

[Yeah! Thank you very much, brave adventurer!]

[Vivi Affection Points went up by 2]

'...Huh? What is this? Yet another thing to look out for, huh?'

What else is here to look out for in this world, I wonder?

I decide to make my way forward, going even further down the path.

The sound of my hurried footsteps echoing at every step.

I find the passage growing dimmer as the lanterns that once lit the passage becoming more and more scarce.

'This reminds me of those horror movies when the character finds themself in an old abandoned building lost to time... N-Not that I'm getting creeped out! Those kinds of movies were always so dumb. Like, how could anyone forget about a whole building? Wouldn't it have been turned into a parking lot by now? Not realistic enough to scare me.'

As I walked forward, all of the lanterns suddenly became lit, leading into a large room up ahead.

'...'

Surprising, but nothing more.

Even I could probably figure out a way to light a bunch of lanterns, too.

Just smoke and mirrors!

Nothing to be frightened of.

I slowly but surely make my way through the passage and into the room ahead of me.

The room was different than the others that I had seen here so far.

The room was large enough to fit more than one hundred people with some legroom to spare.

There were strange carvings scrawled all over the walls in a language I couldn't understand.

In the center of the room were a chest and some sort of large wooden box.

I stepped a few feet inside before a gate came down and sealed the entrance I came in through.

'... Oh no.'

I turned around and looked at the gate.

I stood calmly and cleared my throat.

'No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! No! Gods, no! This can't be how it ends for me!'

I grabbed the bars and pulled with all of my might with no luck.

I gnawed at the bars and scratched them with my claws. No dice.

I even tried complimenting it and promising a nice dinner.

'That wouldn't work! The only women I connect with are Vivi and my mother! I'm so hopeless!"

I didn't realize it at the time but the wooden box behind me began to open.

I could hear the sound of the trap I had set alerting me of a visitor's arrival.

I felt delighted.

When was the last time I got a visitor?

One century? Two?

I've lost count after the many years since being sealed away by those annoying pests known as humans.

To be forced to waste away for all of eternity by humans was the last injustice I, Alain Cyr Du'Font, would suffer.

For now, was the time to break free and return to the human realm and wreak havoc on mankind.

But first, I should greet the foolish mortal who dared to free the last of the noble race of vampires.

I knock the cover of the coffin off.

I watch as the seals once placed on the coffin fade away into nothingness.

I place my hands on the sides and lift myself out of the coffin.

I felt weak but my power was slowly returning to me.

I look around the room and the first thing my eyes are met with is a hideous creature.

Its bluish scales reflect the light of the lanterns on the walls into my eyes causing me to wince slightly. Only for a moment though as I glare back in defiance.

'It seems the foolish creature hasn't noticed my presence, yet? How boring. It's a shame my first source of blood after many years of rest will be from some weak monster. If only it was a human that made its way to my lair... Their blood always did taste the most divine. No matter...it shall suffice.'

Sorry for the wait! More will be on the way soon!
