We escaped from the place running as fast as we can but it seems that we are still being pursued.
Four undead warriors are following us laughing while taunting us.
"Where are you going pretty girl? Come with us and ditch your dead weight companions. We may be dead but we still know how to have a good time! Hahahaha!" One of them said in ancient Bei language.
"Leave us alone you foul abomination!" Yize released an energy wave to the undead fool.
He dodged it effortlessly by jumping away laughing.
I also released an energy wave at him and he blocked the aura with his own evil aura. My holy wave disappeared dispersed.
Are they really this strong?
"Tsk tsk tsk. Women are still the same even after a thousand years. We will leave you for now but if you ever change your mind, you know where to find us hahahaha!" The evil men went back to the temple, laughing along the way.
I can't believed that I have been harassed by thousand year old undead bachelors!
Yize looked at me ashamed. "Sorry Mei, I'm so pathetic I cant even defend you."
"It's not your fault Yize. We will find a way to defeat these monsters—somehow.
Yize looked ahead, determination in his eyes.
Father is still very weak and he has aged a bit. I can't believe Father is catching his breath. I've never seen him catch his breath—like ever.
He said something but we could not hear it as it was barely a whisper.
He removed our arms from his shoulder, stopped running and sat down underneath a dead tree.
We stopped as well and went to him.
"Thank you..... for rescuing me. I didn't think I was going to make it. I thought that... it would take you a day.... to return back to me..." Father said the words weakly and while catching his breath.
"Transfer some of your energy to me.... so that I would be able to run with you without assistance...."
Yize and I agreed to the plan and transferred some of our energy to Father. It took us 3 minutes of full concentration to make the transfer but in the end, we were successful.
t think, both Yize and I transferred 60 percent of our energy to father. Transfer about 20 percent of our energy. The paleness of his face has disappeared, as his face became flushed. He opened his eyes and then looked at us proudly.
"Thank both of you for saving me. Now, let us get out of this place before they return. We should warn Master Bei before we leave. Let's go." Father said.
"Hold on tight to my shoulders. We shall fly to find Master Bei more quickly. I hope it is not too late."
We held on to his shoulders as he gritted his teeth. "One, two, three!" We all jumped high into the air as Father released his aura, propelling us forward like an arrow. Within half a minute, we saw the firewall and the men of Bei behind it, throwing the contents of their baskets. We also found Master Bei.
We descended slowly, in front of Master Bei.
"Master Bei! We all need to get out of here!" I shouted. "The Carrion Emperor has returned! The Masters of Chu failed to seal him and have been captured!"
"What?!" How can it be!" I am pretty sure that Masters of Chu is a Level 6 Holy monk and those under him are not weak either!"
"He has human supporters with them! They use themselves as human shields, preventing holy attacks from reaching the Carrion Emperor!"
"Aaaaaaarrrrggghh!" Master Bei cried. "It seems that I have failed as a leader if some of my people went back to worship him. They probably became desperate when the famine hit us, sending prayers to the Carrion Emperor instead of asking for help. Resources and people were spread thin during the famine and when the tick plaque happened, instead of accepting death, some people most likely went to the Temple and made a pact with the Carrion Emperor. I have told the people to work together to defeat these calamities, but in truth, we wouldn't have survived without you."
"I take responsibility with this. This is partially my fault this happened in the first place. We should have been prepared for instances like this, we were to lax and comfortable with peace, that we forgot our history. This mistake has now come back to haunt us. We will not leave or abandon the city. It is our duty and responsibility to keep the Carrion Emperor in check and we would fight to the last man. As long as the firewall exist and the ticks do not go through, we will stay here and drive them off. Otherwise, the rest of the cities will be in danger."
"Mei, go to the North and tell the rest of the people of Bei this news. Those who are capable of fighting will go back here to defend the land. Now that we know that ticks are the culprit of this plaque, we just need a lot of alcohol, cedar oil and thick clothes to defend ourselves from them. We will add more layers to the firewall so that the ticks would not go through. As long as there are dead things to burn, we will stay here and maintain the firewall."
All of us three were silent. We know that staying here is a death sentence. The Carrion Emperor hates those who defy him.
"What about the Carrion Emperor? If he decides to come here and destroy you, you would have no chance of surviving!" I replied to him.
"Mei, we know the Carrion Emperor from the back of our hand. Our scholars and top thinkers have devised ways to fight against him. We have kept this a secret for so long, but Mei, we are all level 4 or level 5 Enhancers. We are resistant to magical and physical attacks and we are tought to kill in a fight. Send healers, thick clothes, alcohol, medical equipment and burnable things here and as long as we stand, we will defend and drive them off." Master Bei said.
"Mei, I will stay here with Master Bei. I am the only one capable of casting an city wide healing spell in the world. I would be of great help to these people. Just make sure you bring armors, alcohol, food and all other things that they will need and I will make sure to maintain the line here."
"What about the Bei people who have joined the Carrion Emperor? What if they marched here? How would you fight with children, women and old people around defending them?" I asked.
"We will make sure to incapacitate them in the fight or take them out of the battle field as possible. Eventhough they have joined the Carrion Emperor, they are still out people and they have joined him out of desperation. Those followers will then be shipped to the farthest continent possible and rehabilitated."
"What if they can't be rehabilitated?" I asked.
"Unfortunately, they will be sent to camps and live there for the rest of their lives. We have this planned in case this happens. I will tell about my top generals about this later in the war room."
"Men! Tell the others that the Carrion Emperor has returned! Please tell the Generals to meet up with me in the War room in 30 minutes!" Master Bei shouted.
Someone riding a horse came from City.
"Master Bei! The undead! It seems that they have circled around the firewall and attacked the city!"
"Speaking of the Devil"
"Men! To arms! Those who are not afraid to die, come with me!" Master Bei said. "Bring whatever flint, petroleum, torches and wood tar that you can carry, there should be more in the City. It's time to show them what the Bei people are made of!"
