Their first day

In the middle of the night, a suppressed sobbing sound was resonating in the silent room. Although someone was trying hard to suppress their sobs yet the absence of noise in the room made it easier to discover.

This woke Layla. She sat drowsily and reached out for her phone to switch on the flashlight. She roamed the light source in her hand and saw that a blanket mount was trembling on the bed. She turned on the lights in the room at the very instant.

When lights flashed on Lani's face, she pulled her blanket to block every ray disturbing her sleep but soon Layla's worried voice calling Opal entered her ears. She snapped out from her dreams. "Umm…" Squinting her eyes, she analyzed the situation first then picked her mobile only to see it's 3:30 in the morning. There were still some hours left before they would start their day.

*sob* *sob* When both the girls were awake, Opal couldn't control her voice anymore.

Both girls nudged Opal to remove her blanket that she was clenching hard yet not hiding the truth. "Opal… Opal… please remove your blanket."

"Tell us what happened. Do you have any problems?"

"Are you feeling unwell?"

Questions after questions filled with concern easily pursued Opal to remove her blanket.

"I…*sob* miss… mom…and sis." With this, her tears started to flow more. She dreamed of her family, for a moment she felt she should run away leaving every reason behind that made her come to this school and in this hostel.

Lani sat beside her and started consoling her. "It's okay, it happens. Shhh… Don't cry."

Meanwhile, Layla fetched some water. "Here, drink it."

"Feeling homesick is not new. Everyone felt like this in the beginning. You'll be okay after some time." Layla stated the fact though it wasn't that much of help given that the girl nodded her head but couldn't stop crying.

"Calm down, you'll attend your first class after some hours. Don't make your eyes puffy. It won't look good." Upon hearing Lani's words, Opal forced herself to stop her tears. There was no way she would ruin her first day just like that.

But her vision was still not clear, a layer of water was still there. Just then something flashed in front of her. She lifted her head only to see Layla was holding a packed chocolate bar. "Eat this, you will feel better."

Layla has a habit of eating sweets whenever she feels sad.

"T-Thank you both." Opal was happy inside thinking at least her roommates are not bad. Her worries were washed away by their concern.

-Grade 11 Section A-

"Good morning class, today a new student is going to join us. I hope everyone will get along with him. Student, come in." A boy in uniform entered the class. He was handsome to the point that it looked like every light in the room was concentrated on him. He made everyone's eyes stuck on him.

As soon as girls laid their eyes on him, they were awe-struck; their heart was beating loudly seeing an Adonis in front of them. To them, his indifferent expression was more attractive, giving a reason to a young maiden's heart to beat for someone.

As soon as boys laid their eyes on him, they could feel many emotions rising inside; jealousy, envy, tension. It was clear to them that he would steal all girls' attention by himself. But his aura was also warning them to not mess with him carelessly.

Layla and Ryan were also in shock; not because of his handsome looks but because of the familiar face they just saw. He was the guy who helped them yesterday.

Taking note of the teacher's expression, he introduced himself. "Hello, everyone. My name is Zou Haoran. And I hope you will not bother me, especially girls."

Silence; the whole class was filled with silence. It was totally unexpected for everyone. He directly cut off the chances before anyone could make their moves in him. After all, it wasn't the first time he received such gazes. He was familiar with these gazes and the intentions behind them.

This ruined many girls' plans who were thinking of approaching him directly. But then again, if a human won't use its brain to its full potential, then who will, after all finding the solution to problems is human beings' specialty… breaking rules or requests too.

When the teacher asked him to find an empty seat so that he could start his lecture, Zou Haoran roamed his eyes and sat in front of Layla.

After the teacher left, Layla called Zou Haoran. He turned around. "Thank you." She was grateful for his help. She didn't have any other intention.

He looked at her indifferently for a moment before ignoring her.

This scene fell in many eyes including Ryan's who was sitting behind Layla. Girls were gloating because Layla approached him despite his warning. Boys were feeling happy inside because someone had put this arrogant girl in her place. It did not require any formula to know what others were thinking about her. She did what she wanted to do and she won't regret it. After all, she has never shown a goddess-like image in front of others.

-Grade 11 Section B-

The same grade was divided into sections due to the massive number of students.

"Good morning class. Today two new students will join us. I hope you will all get along with them. Come in and introduce yourself." As soon as the teacher entered, she gave surprising news to the whole class. Behind her, a girl and a boy entered.

The girl was quite pretty. Seeing her, almost every single boy's eyes lit up. Although she was no match for the most beautiful girl in the school still it was sure that she was going to gain many admirers.

The guy beside her was handsome. He had a gentle smile on his lips. His presence cheered the girls' mood. Their eyes were also shining.

"Good morning everyone. My name is Opal Jin. I'll be in your care from now on."

"Good morning everyone. My name is Caleb Lin. I hope we will get along well."

After their introduction, they looked for empty seats to sit. Opal sat on the empty desk beside Lani. Caleb picked a little far spot near the window.

Lani was surprised to find Opal in the same class as her. In the morning when she asked her, Opal refused to spill the beans saying it would ruin the surprise. She was also delighted to see Caleb, after all, it was easier to talk to him rather than Zou Haoran.

Now she thinks about it since she shared two timetables, could it be that Zou Haoran is in the...

With these events, their school day started.
