Hearing Eric's question, Lex smiled. He shook his head and said, "No offence, but I don't trust the soldiers."
Eric narrowed his eyes at Lex, demanding more explanation since those words hurt his pride a little. The soldiers were like his family, and Lex's words clearly implied that his soldiers weren't loyal to the Kingdom and had actually sided with the Obsidian Council.
How could he take that?
"As I said, no offence. You may have many loyal soldiers, but that doesn't mean your every soldier is loyal," Lex said. "The Obsidian Council has its roots pretty much everywhere. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if a member of the Aethrian Academy has joined hands with them. Not to mention the army, where getting in is easier than getting into the Academy."
Eric looked down since he couldn't deny that. Everything Lex said was right. He had seen and killed many soldiers and even high-ranking members of the army who turned out to be members of the Obsidian Council.
