30- Relationship

Lex thought about Elle's previous question and said, "As for your previous question, it's simple. Hate is a strong word. I don't really hate anyone, well, aside from The Obsidian Council. They're someone I really hate."

"Hmm, I'll try to understand this weird thing," Elle said.

"Don't force it; you just need to discover the way you can express emotions; emotions aren't something that can only be expressed through words, after all," Lex said.

"Other ways..." Elle mumbled.

"Anyways, so after that old geezer saved me and forced me into his family, I met Denver and MM. And well, somehow, we got attached to each other." Lex said. "That's how me, Lex Rivenhall, became a part of the Ramsey family."

"Rivenhall? You're the son of—" Elle asked, but Lex cut her mid-off.

"Yeah, him. I even think that old man took us in because of my father." Lex said.

"You do know the position and status you'll get if you announce your presence, right?" Elle asked.

Lex nodded and replied, "Yes and that's one of the reasons I dislike the capital. I was so happy on the outskirts, but now I'm here."

"There are some things that are unavoidable, and you'll have to face them someday," Elle said.

"I know, I'm just too lazy to be bothered with whole politics," Lex said. "What about you? How is your Stark Family connected to the Ramsey Family?"

Elle raised her eyebrows in surprise and asked, "You don't know? I thought Grandpa Max would have told you."

"Hmm? Well, he tried to tell me many things about the Kingdom and the capital, but I ignored most of them. If it's important and related to me, I'll find that information myself; otherwise, why would I bother knowing anything about capital?" Lex responded.

"You're really something. Aren't you even a little bit curious about them?" Elle asked. She was someone who had always been a curious one, and normally, people were like that. That's why she found Lex strange, who wasn't even curious about his own family.

"Haven't you heard the idiom 'Ignorance Is a bliss'? Besides, the only thing that matters to me is how Grandpa Max sees us. Although he may have taken us in because of my parents, I can see that he has begun to love us from his heart." Lex said with a smile on his face.

Elle didn't say anything for a while. Then she said, "Very well then, guess I'll be the one to tell you about our families then. So, do you know how many generals our kingdom's army has?"

"Oh! That I know. Four, that's the number that has never changed in the history of Lionheart Kingdom. It always had four generals under the Commander in Chief, Admiral Marshal." Lex said.

Elle nodded and said, "Yes, so the families of these four generals are called 'The Four Lions', but there are some conditions to be counted in 'The Four Lions'."

"First of all is that one of the current generals should be from your family, second one is that your family should have produced more than one General."

Lex hummed and said, "I see then Both the Ramsey Family and the Stark Family have been in 'The Four Lions.'"

"Correct!" Elle said. "That's why the relationship between the Ramsey Family and Stark Family goes way back in time. Both families had been serving the kingdom for ages and had formed a deep bond with each other."

"I see, now it's clear. Haha, I honestly never thought the Ramsey Family had such a history, especially considering the members of the family." Lex chuckled and said.

"Hmm, I was brought up in foreign, so I haven't really met with anyone, but Opa always told stories of his army days. That's how I first got to know about Grandpa Max." Elle said. "It's a pity that the Ramsey Family isn't among 'The Four Lions' now."

"Huh? Why?" Lex asked.

"Because of the first condition. For generations, only four families have produced generals and remained in the 'The Four Lions', but now it's changed to 'The Three Lions' because the army now has a new general." Elle explained.

"Ah! So it's because of uncle." Lex said as he remembered about the father of Denver. Currently, there are only three members in the Ramsey Family if Lex and Elise aren't counted. There was an Aunt of Denver but their relationship was vague.

Sadly, this was the state of a military family. Because of how many members of their family die on the battlefield, the number of family members has always been low in military families.

"Yes, since he died, the Ramsey Family was left with no one to run for the position of General. Because of that, a new General was chosen, and the Ramsey Family lost the status of being one of 'The Four Lions'." Elle said.

"And I doubt that old man even cares about it," Lex smirked and said, knowing Grandpa Max fully well. One of the reasons Lex stayed with them was because they were like him, not caring about the status they had.

"That's for sure. Opa is also like that." Elle nodded and said.

"By the way, is your father a general?" Lex asked. Since Elle said there were 'The Three Lions' left, then it means Stark's family was also one of them.

"Yes, my biological father is a General," Elle said. "But due to the things that happened when I was born, opa and he doesn't really have a good relationship."

"So another parents problem trope?" Lex sighed and said.

"Huh? What?" 

"Nothing."

Elle then asked something that had been on her mind, "By the way, what happened with Grandpa Max's son?"

She hadn't met Denver's father, so she found it a little weird to call him Uncle.

"He died in a battle against The Obsidian Council. Aunt was also there, so she was caught up in everything and died alongside Uncle." Lex explained in a low voice.

"Oh!" Elle didn't say anything else as she didn't know what to say. Lex shook his head and looked at the fork he had reached.
