Too Lenient
Min Yue never really liked lying but for the past five years, he had become adept at it.
While living a carefree life with his lover, he was busy hiding his true colors infront of his family and acting the role of a subservient dog without teeth.
He kept his true nature in the dark while smiling infront of the people that conspired against his mother and sister.
Only when he was with Li Ruyan would he be able to let go of all the lies and deceits. Beside her, his identity or status didn't matter.
He was not the Min family's only successor or the child with a dickless father.
He was simply Min Yue when he was with Li Ruyan.
On the day of his birthday and four-year anniversary with her, he was setting it all up to remember that memorable day that marked the four years that they have been together as a couple.
It would be unforgettable, he thought, while thinking of the many ways they could spend the night in bliss. But things do not always go as plan. In life, there would always be setbacks and hurdles.
Min Yue was experiencing those things that night.
Yang Shiwei, the woman called to pester him.
He did not want to spend time with her. He thought of all the excuses he could give just so he could avoid her. There were other important things he needed to do.
But things kept escalating. Du Tianxing barged at this office. His expression was livid. He looked like he swallowed a stick of dynamite and was ready to explode and go all out on him.
His collar was grabbed tightly by a hand.
"Min Yue, what did you do? You bastard, what did you do? Are you an idiot?" His cousin asked as if he was looking at someone who committed a huge crime.
"You idiot, what did you do to make that old fool suspicious of you? Damn it, I told you to be careful!" Du Tianxing yelled, shaking him. He looked crazy. His anger was making the temperature around them turn cold and tense.
It felt harder to breathe, Min Yue thought.
"What the hell are you saying?" He asked, hiding the unease in his chest and forcefully removing his cousin's hand that was one second away from ripping his collar off.
He adjusted his suit.
Du Tianxing looked at him in a way that he wanted to strangle him. His shoulders were trembling and his fists were balled. He was quiet for a moment, simply staring at Min Yue. Then finally, he spoke.
"Tell me, my dear cousin. Are you still seeing that woman?"
That woman... He knows who 'that woman' his cousin was referring to. Afterall, there was only one woman in Min Yue's life.
He paused but his silence was enough confirmation for Du Tianxing. The other party threw their head back and started to laugh.
It didn't sound funny.
"Bastard, you are really trying to anger me... How can you be so careless?!" Du Tianxing paced around the room. He was breathing quite badly and he would glance at him from time to time, throwing a nasty glare that could kill.
Min Yue somehow got used to these stares over the years they've been plotting together.
"That old coot had someone investigate your movements a few days ago. They know that you're seeing that woman! You're already engaged to his daughter but he found out that you're seeing someone else! Do you know what you've done!?"
Hearing his words, Min Yue's chest tightened and he almost dropped the pen he was holding. That can't be. He was found out by that old coot? Then, was she also...
His jaw tightened.
No… He couldn't let Li Ruyan be caught up in this matter.
But… he was sure. He was very sure. He was very careful when meeting her and he timed their encounters. He made sure that Yang Liu would be on a meeting somewhere or would be too busy doing an interview or discussing a project before he went off to meet Li Ruyan.
He even made sure to get his hands on the old coot's schedule.
Moreover, he and Li Ruyan usually spend their time at her apartment to the point that his condo would always be deserted. They practically live together and spent their time in private, away from other people's eyes.
So how was it possible that the old coot found out?
While his cousin was shouting at him and pointing accusing fingers at him, Min Yue's mind was becoming more and more calculative.
He underestimated the old coot's ability.
Of course, if that man was able to kidnap a fifteen-year-old girl from inside a private girl's academy and to buy off the hospital where his mother and sister were both admitted before they died, as well as bribe the police assigned to the murder and rxpe cases of both parties...
Then he really was not a simple old man.
He was a slimy arrogant bastard with no moral integrity that needed to die.
Min Yue would be the one to exact justice on that person. But he would not dirty his hands and he would let other people do it because he did not want that old coot to die easily.
"Are you listening to me!?" Du Tianxing roared, looking very frustrated at Min Yue's still figure.
"Go and meet Yang Shiwei right now. Agree to the dinner date. Pamper her even if it's disgusting! I don't care if her face makes your skin crawl or that she's as annoying as hell but for the sake of the plan, bear with it, Min Yue."
Du Tianxing placed both hands on the table and looked coldly at him.
"Bear with it, my dear cousin. You won't let our efforts be in vain, right? We have been planning for five long years. We have pulled out half of his aides to our side without him knowing and you've kept the Min's at bay with your acting. I won't let you ruin the plan just because you want to keep fooling around with a woman."
"That isn't for you to decide."
"Shut your mouth, you bastard. This wouldn't have happened if you weren't so careless."
"Du Tianxing, do you want me to cut your tongue off? Since when have you been in the position to order me around?"
Du Tianxing laughed mockingly. "My dear cousin, now you know how to talk back. You finally grew some backbone and it's because of that woman? Unbelievable. All this for a pussy when you can…"
There was no warning when he slammed his fist on the other party's cheek. Du Tianxing crumpled on the floor from the impact of the blow, his eyes a little wide with surprise.
Min Yue's right arm was still outstretched. His dark aura surrounded him, cloaking his entire body with danger. His eyes were just as dark as his expression. He no longer looked complacent.
He looked vindictive.
He looked ready to kill and make people suffer.

He stepped towards Du Tianxing who had fallen to the floor, his emotionless eyes boring holes towards the person infront of him.
"I think I was too lenient on you, cousin."
