Chapter 16

-Evelyn's POV

''Don't say anything!'' Jake warns Emmet. ''She is hungover and...''

''GOODMORNING, EVY!''

There goes the orange juice and the glass. Most of the juice gets on Cleo, who is sitting on my lap and her lip starts to tremble.

Always a bad sign.

''Come on, I left the two of you for less then a minute!'' the beta groans. ''Wasn't the oatmeal

enough?''

''The oatmeal was your own fault!'' I snap at the beta. ''I told you that she was going spit up, but you didn't listen and why are you whining anyway? Are you covered in oatmeal and orange juice right now? No, so stop it.''

''Or what?'' the beta taunts.

''Why?'' I hear Jake mutter.

''This is going to be fun!'' Emmet grins as he takes a seat.

''Or what?'' I repeat.

''We kill him!'' Sybil growls. ''No, that means that we are stuck with his daughters. We can hurt him! No, that still means that we are stuck with them. I don't know, what do we do?''

''Do you like the colour pink?'' I ask the beta as I give him my sweetest smile. ''I hope you do, because I will put one of my red panties in the laundry with your white dress shirts if you don't stop right now.''

The beta takes a very deep breath and for a moment I think I went too far, but then a little smile appears on his face.

''Well played, Evelyn, but I can't risk you ruining more of my dress shirts. My favourite one is already gone, so I'm glad that I didn't gave you one of mine this time.''

''How can you tell which one is your favourite?'' I ask as I try to dry Cleo's face with my sleeve. ''All your dress shirts look the same to me.''

''No, they don't and Clairy I know that your are not done with your homework,'' the beta says in a stern voice. ''So open that book again and finish the assignment, young lady.''

''Why?'' Trevor asks. ''Is any of this going to teach us how to lead a pack?''

''Of course it is!'' a confident female voice says. ''We expect our future alpha to be well educated!''

My hangover is doing a real number on me, but I still notice how the others are reacting. The little alpha looks tense and Clairy tries to make herself little, but the reaction of the beta is the one that surprises me the most.

He hides it well, but he genuinely dislikes the shewolf that is standing in the doorway.

The gorgeous redhead shewolf.

''That's why you should always do your best in school,'' the shewolf continues. ''Or do you two wish to remain ignorant?''

Cleo is making that sound again and just in time I reach the towel that is laying on the counter. The fact that I was able to not get spit up on again make the glass shards in my feet totally worth it. The shewolf seems to enjoy the fact that I look terrible, but then her gaze sets on my unusual clothes.

''Why are you wearing Hayden's shirt?'' the shewolf asks coldly.

The truth was simple, but this shewolf was getting on my nerves. They way that she talked to the pups or that she didn't address Hayden as alpha, but she really struck a cord when she talked about getting a descent education.

''Well?'' the shewolf presses on.

''You really have to ask?'' I ask as I wipe away the last of the oatmeal of Cleo's face. ''Make an educated guess.''

Emmet chokes in his cereal, while Jake and the beta suddenly look very uncomfortable.

''Why are you here, Cassandra?'' Hayden asks as he enters the kitchen. His eyes lock with mine for a moment and I try to hide my smile.

I was not the only one who was looking like crap!

''Because I was told that you wanted to see me, Hayden,'' the shewolf answers with a big smile.

Hayden looks at his beta, who shakes his head.

''She is here at my request, alpha Hayden,'' Jake says as he leans back in his chair. ''We have been assessing the packs as you know and we have determined that Cassandra is your biggest liability at

the moment.''

''Excuse me!'' the shewolf scoffs. ''I'm...''

''Done,''I cut the shewolf off. ''Interrupt my brother again and this whole conversation is over. Are we clear?''

''Like I am going to take orders from a rogue,'' the shewolf says softly, but not soft enough.

A furious growl rips through my throat and immediately Hayden steps in the middle, blocking my way to the shewolf.

''Little alpha and Clairy, upstairs now!'' I snap.

The pups leave the kitchen without saying a word and I lean very calmly against the counter. Rocking Cleo gently in my arms as she snuggles up against me.

''That wasn't a smart move,'' I say with a smile as I keep my gaze set on the pup in my arms. ''Although that shouldn't surprise me considering your first question.''

The eyes of the shewolf darken and that makes me smile even more. This was getting old and I had more things to do, like getting that oatmeal out of my hair.

''You are watching the wrong sibling, Hayden.'' I say as I make my way towards the door.

''I'm feeling chatty, so I will answer the questions you didn't asked out loud,'' I mind link the shewolf. ''Hayden really is a dominate alpha, but he doesn't mind to be dominated in the bedroom if you know what I mean. What else? Alright, all night long and twice this morning. Do you need more details or are you good?''

The shewolf loses it, but she doesn't get to chance to get to me. Hayden is blocking her way to me and it was like I told him.

He was watching the wrong sibling.

-Alpha Hayden's POV

Emmet has his hand around Cassandra's throat within the blink of an eye and he is pressing her against the wall.

''You don't want to go after her, sweetheart,'' Emmet says as he stares Cassandra down. ''You don't stand a chance against either of them, but forget about my sister for now. She is the least of your concerns, isn't she, brother?''

''She is,'' alpha Jake answers. ''Cassandra hasn't bothered to attend any of the mandatory training sessions with my pack, alpha Hayden and beta Brock. She shows up late for training or patrol in general and she seems to think that she can trade shifts whenever she feels like it.''

''I warned her about that, alpha,'' Brock says and I can hear the frustration in his voice.

''We know that you warned her, beta Brock,'' alpha Jake continues. ''You warned her and so did Graham, but she chose to ignore those warnings. That kind of behaviour is not only unacceptable, but also dangerous.''

''How you can trust a warrior that doesn't take her duties serious?'' Emmet cuts in. ''You can't and that means that we have to deal with you, sweetheart. Starting this moment you will join our pack for training and you will join the night patrol for as long as we see fit. Showing up late is not an option, because we rogues only warn once.''

''Let the girl breath, Emmet,'' alpha Jake sighs. ''You will have to repeat everything if she loses her consciousness and that would really be a waste of our time.

Emmet releases his grip on Cassandra's throat and he smiles sweetly.

''Any questions, sweetheart?''

Cassandra looks terrified and she shakes her head.

''Anything to add, alpha Hayden?'' Emmet asks.

''Yes, I do have something to add,'' I say as pour myself a cup of coffee. ''You lost the honour to call yourself a warrior of the Bloodmoon pack, Cassandra. Consider this is your final warning and your only chance to regain your position.''

Cassandra looks like she is going to cry, but I know that I can't let that get to me. This already went on for far too long and I alone was to blame for that, because I let her get away with this behaviour.

''Hayden, you can't mean this. You know that I am one of your best warriors. You need me!'' Cassandra pleads.

''Alpha!'' I snap and my alpha commands echoes through the whole pack house. ''You will address me as alpha Hayden and that will be it. Go join alpha Jake's pack for their morning training session and I hope for your sake that this is the last time you disobey your orders, Cassandra.''

''Yes, alpha,'' Cassandra says as she bows her head.

''Don't be late, sweetheart,'' Emmet says coldly as he nods in the direction of the door. ''I'm leading the training session this morning.''

Cassandra leaves in a hurry and I take a sip of coffee.

''Well, that has been taken care of,'' Emmet says and I'm glad that he sounds like his usual warm self again. ''Can we now discuss why you and my baby sister were going at it all night, alpha Hayden?''

Wait what?!
