I Dare You to Kill Me

Isabella Marciano was pushed to leave her family business after her whole family's tragic death and the betrayal of her Uncle Santino Ricci. With the help of her father's best friend, she'll try and take everything that has been taken from her. Along her conquest, she'll meet Konstantine Zafeiriou, a Greek Billionaire who's father ventured to illegal businesses. On the other hand, Konstantine, a playboy billionaire who defied his father's wishes since he was younger, had no intention of venturing deeper into the underworld until he met Isabella. Will Konstantine be able to help Isabella, or will he just turn into someone who'll mess with her mind. ~~ “Santi Ricci should lead us” Deville spoke of my uncle who sat beside me on the right “he has Marciano blood in him, born to be a Don.” “No. Valen should be the Don” St. Luis said. “He’s the third in command after Sean. It's only logical that he leads.” They went on and on and on until I've had enough of them talking as if I wasn't in the room. I slammed my hand on the oak table. “Good God!” I murmured rubbing my temples melodramatically “you whine like four-year-olds. Who actually gave all of you the right to decide something meant for a Marciano to decide.” They all glared at me but I wasn't done “whoever wants to take what's rightfully mine is welcome to challenge me in a hand to hand combat. I'm Daniel Marciano's daughter and his mafia is only mine to claim.” ~~ [under edits] [Mature content]

who is this man?

Chapter 28- who is this man?

*

*Isabella Marciano*

''I knew you might have done a background check on me'' Kon explained after securing the vest on me. ''Not everything you knew is right. Damien isn't my father.''

''What?'' I turned around and stared up at him, his silver-gray eyes and golden blond hair shining under the silver rays of the moon.

He was already peering down at me, he placed his fingers under my chin, tracing my lips with his thumb. ''This is not the time to talk about it. John is waiting for us.'' he pecked my lips. ''Do you trust me?''

How will I trust someone who I didn't even know? I learned not to trust anyone apart from myself but my heart is urging me to say, ''I do. I trust you.''

Kon smirked, ''good. Cause it's just the two of us now, Isabella.'' he filled his magazine holder and loaded the Bushmaster ACR 3. I took two magazines and loaded my rifle while Kon placed a suppressor in each gun we're holding. ''Stay behind me, okay?''

''Kon'' I groaned. ''I'm not a child. I've survived death once, you don't have to treat me like a fragile doll.''

Kon chuckled softly, ''I know, Vasílissa mou.'' He pinched my nose which only made my frown deepen. He wore a black mask over his head and pulled over his hood, he waited for me to do the same before saying, ''follow me.'' (My Queen)

That's the same! He just rephrased his sentence. This man is lucky we're on a slim timeline or else I would've argued with him until morning.

Kon's steps were quiet, not even the rustling of gravel on the side of the warehouse can be heard. I'm starting to believe that our intel about him was all wrong. John's record said that Kon was just a playboy bachelor who knew nothing except to run his father's company and play around with girls.

With the way he moves, each step he takes is so precise, his breathing isn't even ragged, his shoulders are not stiff, he's as calm as a man walking in a park instead of walking straight to a possible trap.

He raised his hand, open-palmed towards me without looking behind his shoulders. A hand signal to halt. He then turned on the side and placed his left hand in his eyes signaling me that there's a sniper.

Who is this man?

I pushed that thought aside as he continued to give me a hand gesture while we took down the guards along the way.

The sniper? He is a dead man as soon as Kon saw him. He used his assault rifle to shoot the sniper on a watchtower. Only an experienced man in combat and guns can do that in one shot.

Again, who is this man?

We hid the bodies of the guards along the way, I counted ten - sniper not included - until we reached the metal door behind the warehouse. It must be used as an exit but we'll use it to enter undetected inside.

Kon let me hold his rifle so that he could unlock the door with his lock picking tools.

He has a lot of explaining to do when we get out of here.

He was able to push open the door in less than a minute and we're in. The absence of light inside is supposed to be a problem for us but Kon changed the scope of our guns to night vision. Damn. This situation is sending chills in my body.

My job for the crazy wives of cheating husbands is not this exciting. I missed the action in the field. With Kon's acquaintance with tactical maneuvering, I feel like my old self. The girl who's always competing with her brothers, Sean and Heat, the girl who'll prove to every man in the mafia that every woman is worthy of their respect.

Kon knows his way around the warehouse, I barely fired my rifle but I made sure that our backs are covered. We moved in sync as if we've done this before. He led us to the basement of the warehouse and by the sound of men shouting in Greek, they must've seen the mess we made.

''We have to move fast'' Kon spoke calmly, ''check every cell down there while I keep these katsarídes busy.'' (cockroaches)

I agreed and followed his command. After seeing how he was able to get us in here undetected, there was no doubt in me anymore. I trust that man - whoever he is - that he's on my side and he's not leading me to an ambush.

Gun fires lanced the silence of the night as soon as I climbed down two flights of stairs down the basement. Vivid carmine lamps were adorning the walls on each side of the hallway. The foul smell of blood, human flesh, urine, alcohol, and smoke mixed with other things is making my head hurt.

Each metal door I shoot the hinge to open shows me the horror of this place. Blooded men, barely breathing and malnourished were laying on the cracked cement floors. None of them moved and the hammering of my heart of what must've happened to John was getting the best out of me. My anxiety was kicking in with each room that didn't contain John.

I reached the last door and I found him, still in the same situation like the one in the picture. Hurriedly, I went on his side and untied his hand and feet, slicing the duck tape with my knife, and checked his pulse.

His pulse was strong, but he was unconscious. I forced open his eyelids and his eyes were bloodshot. He must be under some kind of drugs but he made a muffled groan.

''John'' I breathe out in relief. Kon gave me an adrenaline shot earlier in case we came across this kind of situation. ''This is gonna hurt okay? One, two,'' I slammed the shot in his chest.

John's eyes opened wide and he pushed off from the metal chair. I wound my arms around him, not allowing him to leave me just yet. ''Figlia,'' John took the AK I dropped on the floor and loaded it. ''We need you out of here. Damien knows where the evidence is, he will go to Santi once he finds it and we have to stop him before he could.''
