37 thieves

Chapter 37: thieves

✴Isabella Marciano✴

After washing off the unpleasant foam all over my skin, I change into a long-sleeved off-shoulder cream cardigan, black jeans, and sneakers. Kon must've brought the clothes he had for me in his place, I still wonder what happened in Athens and where we are right now.

Asking them is not an option for me, no matter how much I like Kon, I still don't trust him.

That's the sad truth. How can we be together when these things we have between us started with pure lies.

Kon and Cham were seated around the dining table with the two dark-haired guys and another with afro hair.

''Have a seat Isabella'' Kon was seated at the head of the table, Cham and the afro guy on his right while the two black haired guys left one unoccupied chair beside his left.

I was about to take the farthest seat when Kon spoke, ''no. Here beside me.''

Looking at everyone, they didn't seem to mind where I sat. they were engrossed in talking to each other, oblivious of my hesitation. Tilting my chin up, I sat beside Kon, unfolded the table napkin, and laid it on my lap.

''Everyone, introduce yourselves to the newest member of our family,'' Kon commanded calmly, sipping his wine.

Cham huffed, crossing her arms over her chest. She was wearing a maxi dress now, a pink one that made her fair skin fairer. ''You already know me, I'm Cham, the queen of the house.''

Kon groaned and the other men chuckled.

''Baby,'' the afro guy wrapped his arms around Cham. ''Be nice will you. You two almost burn down the house this morning,'' he mumbled, giving me a gentle smile which made chills run down my skin. His skin was dark chocolate but his eyes were so blue, as blue as the ocean reflecting the skies. ''I'm Black, the doctor.''

I reached for his offered hand and the guy next to me spoke next. He has chestnut-brown hues and his black hair was as long as mine but it was tied in a neat bun. His skin was perfectly tanned, and he smiled at me, showing how perfectly bleached teeth. ''I'm Crow Ms. Isabella'' he reached for my hand and kissed the back of it, ''I can be your friend, boyfriend, shoulder to cry on, keeper-''

''Crow'' Kon growled beside me and Crow let go of my hand instantly.

''I know boss,'' Crow lowered his head and sipped his coffee silently.

''I'm Falcon'' the guy beside Crow mumbled. His hair was shoulder length and when he reached for my hand, I felt the same callous between his thumb and forefinger just like Crow. They must be the snipers who fired at us from the car chase at Athens. ''The tech guy.''

''Nice to meet you,''

What kind of group are they exactly? Cham for Chameleon, Black for Black Mamba, and Falcon and Crow were snipers, surely they're not from the government.

''We're thieves,'' Kon seemed to hear my thoughts. ''We steal from rich people and give it to the poor.''

That made me chortle, everyone glared at me and I laughed loudly. ''You think I would buy that bullshit?''

''Yes because it's the truth.'' Kon calmly announced, placing a good amount of pasta on my plate. ''Ever heard of the heist at Malinconico Museum in Venice?''

''No'' I mumbled in disbelief, ''they never caught the culprits and they stole one of the Royal Family's crests which was like what, thousands of years old.''

Cham's sage eyes brightened, ''that was us, missy.''

I prefer missy than bitch. I say we're going somewhere.

''Yeah, and the heist at Palace Museum in Washington'' Crow announced proudly, ''I planned that heist.''

''No… You guys are legends'' indulging their childish stories, inflating their huge egos when in reality, I think they're pretty stupid. Why would someone waste time for such a small-time heist? If it was me, I would steal money from the Treasury and use a chopper to throw the money for the needy. Simple, easy, and fast.

They kept bragging about their heist and what artifacts they stole, there was something not right about everything I'm hearing but I kept my mouth shut. Whatever they're hiding, I will find out about it one way or another.

After that peaceful breakfast, Kon asked me to go with him and see John. surprisingly, they were keeping him inside the mansion just on the east wing. My room was on the west and we had to cross long hallways of an empty yet pleasant path to John's room.

''John!'' I ran towards his huge laying figure on the bed when I saw him.

He groaned loudly, God I must've hit his wounds but I miss the guy so much.

John chuckled, ''I'm still alive and kicking, figlia.'' he patted my back and drew soothing circles to calm me.

''I thought I wouldn't see you again,'' I mumbled on his chest, which was still wrapped with a bandage.

''I'm a tough sonofabitch to kill'' he teased.

''John!'' I gasped, he never curses, he was always prim and proper.

The look of mockery on his face was priceless, at least he's really okay. I giggled and helped him to sit and lean against the headboard.

Kon stood there the whole time, watching the scene unfold in front of him with a small smile on his full lips.

''Ragazzo'' John addressed Kon who grimaced at the nickname. ''Care to tell me why you betrayed us?''

Kon stood proud, never breaking eye contact with John. ''I had to make sure she's who she says she is.''

John hummed, ''and you're sure now?''

Kon looked at me, locking eyes before gazing back at John. ''I've always been sure,'' he announced, ''I just had to convince everyone that she's the real deal.''

''What do you mean?'' I butted in, curious as hell as to why this group of 'thieves' is so interested in me.

''We need your mafia, Vasílissa mou.'' He mumbled, composed as a calm wind. (My queen)
