25 falling again

Chapter 25: falling again

*

*Isabella Marciano*

''Took you long enough'' John had an impatient scowl on his face when I slid inside the minivan parked at the back of Zafeiriou hotel.

Shrugging my shoulders, I unstrapped the gold mask from suffocating my face. ''We'll have Damien before noon tomorrow.''

''Good,'' was his only reply from my lack of explanation.

I wonder how John put up with me all these years. He is always there for me yet he never asked for anything. John is just there, always, and never leaving.

Konstantine. Why did he have to make things hard for both of us?

'You are to be my queen, my only queen' he said before dipping his lips to claim mine. There was no questioning my attraction for him. No matter how hard I try and fight it, no matter how much I try and focus it on someone else, it will always be him.

I was fascinated by his beauty since I started trailing him for this opportunity. I adored him from afar, and when I got the chance to get to know him, I fell for him. My poor clueless heart fell for his charm.

Turns out, I didn't need him after all.

When laid on my bed after my nighttime routine, I touched my lips unconsciously. The feel of Kon's sweet, soft, possessive lips still lingers on mine. Just the memories of his touch on my skin send tingles on my whole body.

Groaning, I pull the covers making a tent over my body.

'No one can take you away from me Isabella' Kon's words were engraved on my mind.

He didn't allow me to go until I agreed to meet him tomorrow. Being the putty that I was for him, I accede after a good twenty minutes of making out with him.

I feel so stupid for falling into his trap again. It was confusing, consuming, I was drowning in his every touch and I had no anchor, no one would save me if he chooses that botch again.

'She means nothing to me' Kon never let go of my face while he explained his actions in his penthouse at Nafpaktos. 'Mom wanted me to pursue her but I never wanted her, Isabella. It's only you that I want.'

I like the way my name, my real name smoothly rolled off of his tongue. Three syllables that sounded foreign to my ears.

Time flew by like bliss, I haven't got a wink of sleep. Last night's event was replaying on my mind like a movie.

Peeking at my phone, it's only five in the morning. Kon will pick me up at seven. Deciding it was futile to try and pretend that I'd be able to get some sleep, I took a shower and chose a dress for my date with Kon.

I chose to wear a pastichio collared maxi dress. Its color brings out the tan I perfected through the years and it would be comfortable to move with its flowy design. The wide neckline of my dress reveals a hint of skin yet not too crude.

''Going somewhere?'' John inquired when I stepped out of my room, checking all the stuff I need in my bag. He was sipping his coffee, still in his sleep uniform. A white shirt and striped sweatpants topped with his gray robe that hangs loosely on his broad shoulders.

I can never lie to John so I told him the truth. ''I'm going out with Kon.''

His face remained blank but his blue-green eyes showed a storm of emotions. He nodded, ''what time will you be back?''

I was fidgeting like a teenager on her first date.

''Never mind, just enjoy your time…'' my eyes widened at his approval. ''Keep me posted and I'll monitor Damien if he calls.''

''Thank you, John'' I tried to squeeze him for a tight hug but he was the one who squashed me. ''Can't… breath…''

John chuckled, ''your date is waiting.'' he nodded towards the screen of his laptop that shows the CCTV's around the hotel that he tapped on. ''Go now before I change my mind.''

As if on cue, my phone vibrated on my bag and Kon's ID popped on the screen. ''I better go then.'' I kissed John on the cheeks and scurried out of the suite.

Kon was parked on the other side of the street. He didn't want to be seen entering the premises of their rival in the hotel business and I suggested it'd be best if he just waited for me to come down.

He was wearing a gray Henley button-up V-neck top over his dark jeans and casual loafers. A few locks of his blond hair were tousled like he raked his fingers over them a few times. As soon as silver-gray eyes landed on me, he beamed, showing his pearl white teeth before offering his arms for me.

Walking slowly, I neared him and stood awkwardly in front of him. I don't know what we are or if it's alright for us to show affection in a public place.

''Hi-'' I stiffened when he pulled me in for a hug. He burrowed his face on my neck, sniffing me audibly. My hands were glued on my side but Kon pulled away from me a little, only to dip his face to kiss me squarely.

Everything around me disappeared, all I could think about was his lips that's devouring me like a caveman. Each caress of his full lips on my watermelon flavored one's had my toes curling on my gladiator sandals. His hands seamed the outside of my arms, up and down until he couldn't get enough, and rested one on the back of my neck, threading his elegant long fingers on my scarlet hair and angling my face to his will while his other hand tightened around my waist. It wasn't a french kiss, it's just lips to lips but I clearly remember John and the camera that was focused on where we stood, bother breathing heavily when Kon finally allowed me to inhale a much-needed air for my lungs.

''Hi,'' Kon smirked at my stunned state. ''Let's go?''
