Chapter 14

Nonso's POV

I woke up to my mum yelling at my younger brother about chores.

Here we go again .

I checked the time, and it was half past 9.

it's strange, cause my mum is normally out the door by 8 at the latest.

Rubbing my eyes, I dragged myself off the bed and walked to the living room.

I saw my mum dressed casually watching tv with a mug of what I assume is coffee in her hand.

"Morning mum, not going to work today?"

I say while rubbing my eyes

"No, I need to rest, I called in sick, Are you going to your lesson today?". She said, taking a sip out if the coffee.

I gave it some thought cause, I was planning on staying home cause tutorials was over, but now Mom is home.

I might want to make myself scarce, she can get grumpy sometimes.

"I will, we are finishing this week". I said rubbing the back of my neck.

"Alright head out now, it's almost 10"

I turn to get ready and I hear her again.

"When did u go to bed? you were probably on your phone all night right?"

I froze in my steps, cause I hoped she wouldn't ask, and I hear my brother giggle in the other room

"I was just tired from school yesterday, I slept on time". I said yawning. 

That was a lie, I dozed off while reading a novel, my older brother got me into fantasy novels and I'm hooked like an addict on coke, it's so fun to lose myself in the stories.

I scurry off to get ready and l leave home in 20 mins.

On my way to school, I check my messages and I see one from Yvonne saying she won't be at the lesson today.

I get a little sad and I wanted to turn back, but I was almost there and I really don't want to end up going to the market with mum, so, I keep walking and when I get there, there's nothing to do, no classes, so after saying hi to my friends.

I sit down under a tree and start reading.

This goes on for an hour and I can vaguely hear a girl's voice, but I don't pay attention to it. Then, a friend of mine taps my shoulder, I turn around to see, Ibrahim.

He is a light-skinned boy, my height, average body type, really funny, a little too outgoing.

"Nonso let's go play, it's truth or dare, it's quite boring to just sit around".

I look up and look at where he is pointing, and I want to decline cause my book is getting good, but I remember how fun it used to be in secondary school so I say, "Sure, let's go".

We head over to a circle of seats and sit down, thankfully its mostly people I know, cause I hate to say it but I don't remember most of the people at this lesson.

A girl named Fatima explains the rules explain the rules and we all decide to choose by spinning a bottle, giving just 2 truths and a fine of 500 nairas for any failure to answer or perform a dare.

I just hope I'm not asked to do anything embarrassing. 

At a point, I'm picked, and cause everyone has just one chance to change their pick. I decided to save that for later, I pick dare, and I'm asked to take 8 things off my body,

I panic cause, that will leave me naked, but I give it some thought and the person said things, not just clothing, so I take off my 2 slippers, belt, my watch, bracelet, necklace, ring, and the t-shirt above my top.

My next dare was to kiss a particular girl called Grace for 5 seconds, I know she has a boyfriend Edward and I see him looking at me

"Wanna pay?"

I ask him, he shakes his head, at which point, I shrug and kiss her on the lips and return to my seat.

I get stares from everyone cause maybe kissing is a bit embarrassing for them but it was something I did a lot in secondary school and I am pretty good at It if I do say so myself.

I see a girl who looks at me and seems sad, I remember her name was Alice, she was one of the girls, Yvonne said likes me.

The game goes on and It has some funny moments, my next dare is to surprisingly French kiss Alice for 10secs.

I suspect someone did it on purpose but I don't overthink it, I stand and I give her a really good look, and she has dark hair, symmetrical face, of average height, dark skinned but not a lot, she has a nice figure.

I walk up to her and put my hand on her waist, she puts her hand on my sholders, she is smiling so I take it she is excited.

I smirk so I don't look weird, I lean it 90 and allow her to come the remaining 10 and we kiss, during the kiss, I feel someone remove my hand from her waist and put it on her ass, I return my hand and lock my fingers, we break off and I go back to my seat trying to keep my smirk.

it wasn't a terrible kiss, but I didn't think I knew her well for her to try to shove her tongue down my throat, I brush it ff as excitement and inexperience and try to enjoy the game.

Not long after, I was picked again not for a dare but someone picked me to finish off her dare which was to kiss a guy.

I was confused cause now the game was just turning to me kissing every girl in the circle.

I was about to get up but I think she took my silence for me not wanting to kiss her, and picks someone else, I smile and when someone gets up to leave the game, I decided to leave too.

I sit on a bench with my good friend Joyce, she is a short girl, smart, really charismatic and a nice friend, we get along cause we both have a very weird sense of humor, she gives me the mischievous smile and says:

"Have fun? you and your lips seem very popular". She asked with a sly smile. 

"We are not, shortie". I rolled my eyes and smiled. 

"Stop calling me that," she says while pouting. 

"Never, just accept the nickname", I chuckle"

"Oya rate the kisses, who was better"

She says with a mischievous smirk

I was about to talk and Ibrahim walked in front of me and said while smiling.

"Someone else wants to kiss you"

Joyce winks at me.

I give her a weird look. 

" We have another contender". She says while smirking.

My face is puzzled

"I am no longer playing," I say while genuinely surprised.

"I know but we can pick people who aren't playing for our dares". She says.

"Tell her No". I replied, typing away on my phone. 

"Alright, it's Ellen though". I look up immediately. 

I give it some thought not because I like her but because I know Ellen and Yvonne are friends and she has been trying to set me up with her cause she said Ellen like me.

I know she won't let me hear the end if I turn her friend down. 

"Alright sure".

I turn to Joy and see her smirk as it transforms into a smile and It is strangely annoying.

"Just keep quiet"

"Go get em," she says while laughing

I walk back to the circle and I see a chair in the middle, and Fatima asks me to sit

she explained that the dare was to kiss while she sat on my lap facing me.

I sit and Ellen comes close to me, She is a dark-skinned girl, with a nice smile, and a thick body, she sits on my lap and I hold her waist before we begin, I whisper.

"May I?". While I put one hand on her ass and she nods, we kiss and honestly it wasn't half bad, she gets off and I decide I kissed enough people for today.

I go towards the swing and take a seat, I try going back to reading but I can't so I just browse my phone and I'm surprised I don't feel happy about the kissing, I normally would enjoy it more.

Then I think of Lily and my spirits plummet. 

Just great!.

I try to shake off the feeling but It's hard so I want to watch anime until I hear someone call out to me

"So, you can kiss like this?"

I look up, it's Christabel, I smile and get lost in thought. 

"Which one did you enjoy? Fatima or Alice or Ellen?". She asked with a mocking smile.

"Stop Joor. (Stop it)" I didn't kiss Fatima but I didn't bother to correct her, I smiled cause I knew where the questions were going.

I stopped and just stared at her cause I realized she must have been watching and wanted to see what she thought of the whole game.

"You sha don enjoy yourself finish. (You've enjoyed yourself enough)" she said with a smile and I inwardly sighed cause I knew she didn't think badly of me, I forced out a smile cause I honestly didn't feel like talking.

"See ya". She said, standing up and walking away.

I stare at her walking and feel I should have said something, she looks and smiles and walks further away.

A few minutes later, Alice walks to me and starts asking what's wrong, she is persistent so I just say, I'm dealing with some stuff, she tries consoling me and I just sit there and honestly want to go home, on my way out of the lesson.

I call Yvonne to tell her I'm on my way to her place and gist her about what happened and she starts to yell about why I didn't call her to come over, I laugh and starting heading to her place cause, I needed to collect my earpiece back and she is always a crazy breath of fresh air.

I get there and she punches me several times and honestly, it hurts cause she does not hit like a girl at all, I give her details and she gets angrier and I decide to leave before she throws another fit.

I walk home and take a long nap.
