Deserve To Know The Truth

Steve continued, "Erica, we were friends even before I met Lisa, you were my best friend first but I still don't know why in the last year of our high-school you kept avoiding me and sent your excuses through Lisa, do you even know how annoying it was?"

Steve took a long breath after talking in one go.

Erica still stood there in shock.

Steve went past her and went to the kitchen to drink some water.

Erica was still shaken with what she heard, she turned to look at Steve who seemed very angry.

"Are you telling the truth Steve?" Erica again asked for confirmation.

"Why would I lie?"

Erica took a long breath before speaking, Steve looked at her in anticipation wondering what she was going to say as she looked shaken.

"Steve, it was Lisa who never let me contact you."

Erica finally told him the truth that surprised Steve.

"Wait, what do you mean by Lisa never let you contact me?" Steve was surprised when he heard what Erica said and looking at Erica's serious expression he knew she was not lying for sure.

"Steve, I don't want to bitch about my old friend or talk ill of her. Can we just let this topic finish here."

"Erica, Are you crazy?" Steve was annoyed with her and he stepped towards her with a bottle of water in his hand.

She extended her hand, requesting for the bottle and he handed it to her.

Erica drank some water to calm her heart.

"Steve, it was all a misunderstanding and now we know why we were not in contact all these years, can we please forget all of this and just start a new beginning again?" Erica honestly suggested this as the reason why she was not in contact with Steve all these years were because of what Lisa once said.

Now she felt how stupid she was for listening to a third person and taking a big decision of being away from Steve forever without even talking to him once, she should have had cleared everything before making a decision all by herself.

Steve could see Erica was lost in some deep thoughts, he didn't want to disturb her so he kept quiet observing her.

Erica then sighed and shook her head.

"Erica, we already made a mistake of not talking out things, do you want us to repeat this mistake?" Steve seriously asked her.

"Lisa was my best friend."

"Yes Erica, she 'was', she is not anymore. I deserve to know the truth" He seriously looked at her.

Steve is very stubborn and Erica is aware of it, she knew no matter what if Steve decides he wants to know something he will, that was why in the initial years when she left she was scared he would find a way to contact her but now she understood he decided to let her be as he got a hint she doesn't want to be stay in touch.

Erica walked towards the gallery of her house, she was looking out at the scenic beauty and finally decided to tell him the truth as he indeed deserved to know it.

"Lisa said my presence was affecting your relationship and you were annoyed as I was third wheeling you two." Erica turned around to look at Steve who was standing behind her, a few meters away.

Steve was shocked after what he heard, she expected this reaction, she again turned back to face the scenery outside and continued as it was much easier to talk without looking at Steve
