Spirit Skylark Shark

Constantly evading at critical moments, Xu Kai slowly weakened both beasts by inflicting deep wounds with his teeth and dorsal fin.

He swam toward the dolphin and bit its fin. The dolphin struggled to free itself so it could slam its horn into Xu Kai, but he held on.

Moving his head from side to side, he ripped off that part and went for the head when, all of a sudden, a burst of flames sank into the sea, kissing his skin.

The pain caused Xu Kai to miss his target, and the dolphin slammed its tail against his abdomen, launching him into the depths.

Xu Kai watched the silver-horned dolphin close the gap, ready to brutally pierce his flesh. The moment it closed the gap, he swam to the side, increased his speed, and did a swift turn under it while moving upwards.

His dorsal fin, known to be the second-most dangerous weapon a Skylark has, cut open the dolphin's from below.

Right at that moment, a thick harpoon pierced into the dolphin and dragged it towards the surface.

Xu Kai hurriedly closed the gap, transformed into his human form and pulled out the silver pill the size of a marble ball.

As he witnessed the tugging of both dolphins into the vessel, he swallowed the deadly pill and plunged deeper into the sea to evade their reach.

"We're not living till we catch that Skylark!" A yell pierced the air, and everyone lit up torches.

"Throw the small dolphin into the water. A hungry Skylark can't ignore the scent of fresh meat." Cheng Yu stood on the bulwark, holding a harpoon. Besides him stood a man who mounted a trebuchet.

"Did it escape?" Someone asked.

"Skylarks do not run. Those beasts are fierce warriors who don't know what it means to run and fight another day." His fellow crew member replied.

As a brilliant cerulean light shone in the sea's depths, the water became turbulent.

"There, shoot!"

The man mounting the trebuchet fired the harpoon toward the light. He had to retrieve it once the rope ran out.

When the harpoon came out and he did not see the Skylark, Cheng Yu's expression slowly turned ugly.

However, a mighty beast suddenly burst out of the water, right before the ship. It flew into the air, revealing a magnificent 22-foot-long, streamlined body that was covered by a water membrane.

None of them realized that this was a Spirit Skylark Shark—the evolved version of Xu Kai's young Skylark Shark's beast soul.

"Don't let that—!" The ship shook, and as Cheng Yu turned to the open doors, he saw the Skylark's tall dorsal fin splitting the hull into two as it sped toward a group of guards standing before a double-sealed door.

Xu Kai's eyes gleamed. He leaped out, revealing his set of five-inch-tall blade-like teeth!

Despite the four Foundation Building Realm practitioners striking him, their weapons bounced off his body. Cheng Yu's eyes trembled as he watched the Skylark slam his well-trained men, shattering their bones in the process.

It broke into the room, grabbed the only item inside, a large bag, and disappeared into the depths.

Even while the ship split into two parts and sank, Cheng Yu stood rooted to the floorboards, his bloodshot as he watched his treasured ship sink, his men drowning, and the gift that would build a solid connection between him and Shui Mei Er stolen.

All this was caused by a strange Skylark. What kind of shark steals when it could have eaten his men as vengeance?
