55 Chapter 55: Preparations V

"Since the young master would be leaving soon, I hope that you can take my son with you to broaden his horizons so he can gain more experience to help serve the Ravenmoon family better."

Herbert immediately recognized the pros and cons of Mr. Oscar's request. He had made a wrong conjecture about what Mr. Oscar wanted. He originally thought that his protegee and his son were two different people. However, as it turns out, his son was his protegee.

This naturally wouldn't be a problem to him, however, the way that Mr. Oscar had worded his request made Herbert know that what Mr. Oscar wants is to increase the status of his son. Once his son becomes his follower before he becomes the head of the family when Herbert takes over the title of Duke of Ravenmoon his son would immediately gain a high position as he had already been following him at an earlier stage.

Herbert sharpened his eyes as he glanced at the old man in front of him. He was being too shameless. In a way, Mr. Oscar was also tying his boat together with him. So, without any hesitation, Herbert gently placed his hand on the table. When he removed his hand, an Awakening Crystal remain only for it to glisten under the sunlight.

"Please, give this to your son. Tell him to meet me at the Ravenmoon manor tomorrow."

"Thank you, young master."

After reaching their consensus, the two of them no longer had any inhibitions, so they spent the rest of their time in a good atmosphere.

The next morning, Herbert became acquainted with a young man named Oliver. He was the son of Mr. Oscar and looks like the exact spitting image of him, only several years younger.

He was very respectful and polite when he greeted Herbert. His father had already told him that he would be following the young master of the Ravenmoon family.

Although Mr. Oscar and Oliver were also a part of the Ravenmoon, they were only a part of the side branch. Their lineage comes from the part of the family that has a low number of naturally awakened which was why most of them were only mortals.

"Good morning, young master. I am pleased to have finally met you. My name is Oliver and I have been sent here by my father as your assistant to serve you during your travels."

"I see, so you're Mr. Oscar's son. I've heard a lot about you from your father. So, Oliver, are you already prepared to make the long trip around the kingdom?"

Compared to Herbert's other servants, Oliver still has his emotions on his face. He had a bright smile on his face and was completely unlike the other stone-faced servants who were very stoic in their demeanor. This came as a shock to Herbert who was expecting Mr. Oscar's son to be the same as his father. This made Herbert wonder if Mr. Oscar was indeed saying the truth when he mentioned that his son was still inexperienced and lacking.

"Yes, young master. My luggage has already been prepared and I am ready to leave at a moment's notice."

"That's good. But we will still need a couple more days before we can leave. For now, why don't you follow me?"

"Understood, young master."

From there, Herbert soon arrived to meet up with Collins and his father, Clive. With his sudden visit, the two of them were pleasantly surprised as they welcomed him into their new home.

Ever since Herbert's treatment, his mother had now been healthy and can now walk normally. He had fulfilled his wish and had even allowed him the opportunity to study education that is meant for nobles. Each day he spent was fulfilling and his desire to repay Herbert for what he had done is increasing day by day.

After speaking pleasantries with him, Clive soon asked why Herbert had come.

"My lord, may I, your humble and lowly servant, ask the reason for your arrival? Are we going to be leaving for the trip now?"

"Although our trip back is soon, I came here today for a different matter."

After saying so, Herbert took out the Awakening Crystal from his pocket.

"That is?"

"Clive, I'm sure you've heard of this before. This is an Awakening Crystal. It can help you awaken the power of your bloodline which will turn you into an Awakened."

Clive gulped, he had heard of a treasure like this before, but now that he had come across it face to face, he couldn't help but gasp.

"And now, I intend to give it for you to use."

Clive was almost swallowed by his greed which caused him to almost instantly accept and take away the Awakening Crystal from Herbert's hands, but he still managed to retain his dignity by calming his mind.

"My lord, this is too precious. I couldn't possibly accept this."

"Clive, this is an order. Now that you are going to be moving under my orders, I won't let you suffer. This is also a form of protection for yourself."

Herbert's words almost made Clive agree with him, but he still managed to think about how it could benefit Herbert more.

"My lord, if that's the case, wouldn't it be more beneficial to you if you give this to my son? He's a lot younger than me and should have plenty more time to grow his awakened abilities."

Clive felt that his words made sense, but Herbert still shook his head. He knew that Collins is going to Awaken naturally on his own so he did not intend to waste his Awakening Crystal.

"Your son is still young, he still has a chance to awaken naturally, right? Besides, I value you and your talent, and making you a part of the awakened is just a way for you to accomplish your tasks better."

"Y-yes, my lord. I understand. Thank you very much for this opportunity. I will make sure to accomplish everything in my power to serve you and make all of your endeavors a success."

Herbert did not mind watching over Clive's Awakening process. This time, his awakening had been very normal and nothing went wrong.

Once this was over, Herbert soon headed for the prison alongside Oliver. During his entire conversation with Clive, Oliver had been very quiet and had maintained a stone-faced appearance. It seems that he was also a professional and had been taught by his father.

His attitude had somewhat satisfied Herbert, but he would like to see how the young man following him would react when faced with what he was about to do next.
