Chapter 25 – Undead Summon

Zeke's POV

While I was looking at the moon through my room window, I was thinking about my master having discovered his magic for the first time in his life.

"He was only15," I thought in deep thinking, "but age didn't matter at all, as long as they managed to unlock their magic."

I then went to my bed and lay on it in relaxation for the night.

Although I'm serious with my work, once I'm off-duty, I can be laid back and lazy, spending my evenings lying on my bed and doing nothing.

But I am always alert with any sudden work.

"Well, let's do that tomorrow, Lloyd-sama," I resumed thinking.

The next morning, before the sun rises, me and Lloyd in the backyard of the administrative house doing my master's first hand in his magic, necromancy.

Lloyd outstretched his arm. "Summon!"

He made that name himself.

But nothing happened.

Realizing his mistake, Lloyd put down his hand. "Did I use the wrong name?"

"No, it seems your mana was not focused on that ability," I responded with an explanation. "Let's try to focus most of your mana on it."

  "Okay, how?"

"Close your eyes and try to focus, then picture your ability in your head."

Lloyd did so, and do a prayer-style gesture while trying to focus in his mind on that ability.

Personally, I called that ability Undead Summon.

Then, Lloyd opened his eyes and outstretched his right hand. "Summon!"

And then, three dead comrades from my tribe rose from the ground, and they stood, being seemingly controlled by Lloyd.

"Not bad," I commented. "Those are from my dragon tribe."

Lloyd then looked at me. "Woah, what?"

"Yeah, these three died 6 years ago, and they are among the best in my tribe."

  "I see."

Lloyd then turned back and moved his hand swiftly, causing the three dead, Undead comrades of mine to wield their Undead weapons at us.

"Woah, don't let them attack us, master!" I was surprised with alerted.

  "Huh?" Lloyd looked at me.

"Try to make them move somewhere further."

  "O-Okay!"

Lloyd then moved his hand upwards, and this causes the three dead comrades to back off a few meters away.

"Okay, good," I commented. "Now try to dismiss them."

"What?" Lloyd looked at me halfway.

"Try to put them back to the ground."

"Oh, right!" he turned back once more.

Lloyd then moved his hand downwards, causing my three dead comrades to sink back into the ground to where they belong.

"Woah." he put his hand down.

"Good," I responded, "you had summoned the dead. It'll be useful when your opponents charged at you."

Lloyd then turned around. "Really?"

His amazement was written on his eyes.

"Yes, master." I placed my left hand on his right shoulder. "But it'll require a lot of mana in order to do so, so I recommend focusing more mana on it before you use it."

  "Oh..."

"And, it's better if you call it Undead Summon."

I then removed my hand from his shoulder.

  "Oh, sure, that's better."

We continued training until breakfast, in which we went back to the house to eat up before our usual work.

And as we eat, Lloyd asked me, "Hey, Zeke, how come you know all these?"

I then looked at him and swallowed my food. "Well, I'm one of the few smart ones in our tribe."

"Oh, okay, how did you learn them? Books?"

"No, I learned it from my late father."

"I see. It seems that he is smart, isn't he?"

I then nodded. "Yes, he is, like my grandpa."

  "Okay then."

Lloyd then resumed eating his meal.

After breakfast, we went to our usual work, but Lloyd occasionally went out to help out with our people's needs. Despite being the village chieftain, he is helpful and kind to anyone. I doubted that he would ever be brutal and ruthless as a revenge strategy.
