Chapter 19

I am not the owner of the characters; each right belongs to their respective author. I write this story as a hobby or because I'm bored, and I might get a moment of inspiration.

*Satoru's POV*

I don't know what happened to me, but from the moment I saw the old man in the tower, the movie "The Lord of the Rings" started playing in my mind, as if I were watching it for the first time. I remembered each scene, each line perfectly, but why I remember it, I'm not sure. At least it saves me from listening to the old man's speech, although I also got a bit bored with the movie. But back to reality...

I am inside the Grimoire Tower, at the very center of the tower to be specific. In front of me stands the old man giving a speech, and around me are several young people. Some were nobles, as you could tell by the great difference in clothing compared to a poor person like me, hehe.

At the back of the room are the families or acquaintances of all of us, and above me, there is a vast library of books. It was cylindrical in shape, but there were certainly a lot of books, each with its magical power.

Let's see, there is basic elemental magic like fire, water, earth, wind, and there's also metal, flowers, nature, stone...a laughter book??? Wait, is that a book about nails??? Unless you want to open a beauty salon, that would be useful. There are different books that could be pretty cool, but there are also some that I don't even want to name.

Hmm, from what I've counted, there are 1,254 books, and the number keeps going up. There are books behind others waiting, and it seems new grimoires are born. Well, if we consider that if someone dies, the grimoire disappears, then it makes sense that if someone is born, a new grimoire is born for them. But among all these, I don't find one related to space or with any cursed energy.

Hehe, kidding, there is a book about space, but that one just appeared, so it's not for me. I'd better wait for the right moment for the grimoire to come. Let's see what old Gandalf is saying.

*General POV*

"Today, all of you will receive your cherished grimoire. It will accompany you for the rest of your lives, in good times and in bad times. Now, when you receive the grimoire, your destiny will be up to you."

"Therefore..."

"LET THE GRIMOIRE GIVING CEREMONY BEGIN!!!"

Joy, suspense, excitement, curiosity, hope, fear, these were the feelings in each of the young people present. Everyone hoped to receive a good grimoire and have a good number of spells to change their lives.

Some want to escape the rural life, others want to improve their lifestyle, and some just want to show off. It all depends on their luck. Looking up at the bookshelf, a large number of books began to illuminate.

Each illuminated book shot quickly towards its host. Various cries of surprise, joy, and disappointment filled the room. Different grimoires of various colors and sizes. Everyone began to see what the grimoire looked like on the outside and what spells they had. Many went to their families or acquaintances to show off their grimoire, while others began to compare grimoires with each other.

While everyone was happy with their grimoire or disappointed with the one they had, in the center of the room stood a white-haired young man with his hands in his pants pockets, with a relaxed expression and without desperation for not having a grimoire.

At the back of the room, Satoru and Sofi's parents saw how Satoru was the only one standing still in the room. He had not received any grimoire, and this began to be noticed. Several nobles started to mock him for not having a grimoire, and some began to murmur about this young man's bad luck. The old man soon noticed this.

"I'm sorry for your luck, young man, but it seems today is not your day. If you want, you can try again next year."

With words full of pity for that young man who didn't receive his grimoire, but these words didn't affect Satoru.

"Next year??? Why wait for next year if the grimoire is already coming; it was just a bit far away."

Everyone was confused. What does he mean by a bit far? The old man didn't understand this, but he soon did because a mana signature was coming towards the Grimoire Tower. Outside the tower, a white and blue flash was flying from an unknown direction.

It was coming at a very fast speed, and you could only see a white and blue blur. It soon reached the tower, but it seemed it was going to crash into it and had to break the wall to get in. But before it touched the wall, it disappeared.

Inside the tower, the old man was surprised to feel this mana signature, and before he could turn to the direction of the grimoire, he heard words that made him astonished.

"And here is my dear grimoire."

With a wide smile on his face, Satoru held his dear grimoire towards the ceiling with his left hand. Everyone was surprised because in an instant, a white and blue flash appeared on the left side of the tower and seemed to come with great speed.

At that moment, they saw the young man raise his left hand, and in an instant, the grimoire appeared. The old man looked at Satoru's grimoire, which he had to admit was quite beautifully detailed, a white book with blue outlines and several beautiful details on the edge of the grimoire. You could also see an image of the infinity symbol on the spine of the book.

Thinking about the way the grimoire arrived, it should be a four-leaf one, but when he saw the center of the book, he saw it was a three-leaf one. The old man couldn't hide his disappointment, but he had to admit the delivery style was unique.

Satoru was happy to have his grimoire, and lowering his arm to look at it made his smile even wider. He turned around and waved to the old man with his right hand, walking towards his family, where he saw his father happy and his mother quite happy but with some tears. Sofi was also there, sighing in relief to see that her friend indeed had a grimoire.

His parents went and hugged their son, congratulating him for having his grimoire. Sofi also went to give her congratulations for the grimoire, and Satoru also congratulated her for having her own grimoire. They left happily from there and returned home, although they had to wait for the carriage to take them to the village. Satoru told them he could take them, but his mother said she wanted to talk on the way with him and Sofi about their grimoires. Unable to refuse, they went in the carriage while talking.

They arrived in the village, and Satoru went to take Sofi to her house. He met Sofi's parents, who also congratulated him on his grimoire. Satoru told them he would come for her tomorrow to talk about their grimoires. Saying goodbye to her, Satoru walked back home.

On the way, Satoru was playing with his grimoire, holding it in his right hand but spinning it with his index finger and singing some kind of happy song. He got home and greeted his parents, who were chatting in the kitchen. He went straight to his room and collapsed on the bed. A smile appeared on his face, and taking off his dark glasses, he sat up on the bed, folded his legs, and opened his grimoire.

The first page that appeared was his first spell, Infinity. There was a detailed explanation of the technique along with a drawing of what it would look like. Turning the page, the Blue Technique appeared with detailed information and a drawing of a black-blue void. The next page was about Teleportation, looking almost similar to the previous two, he turned to the next page.

Now appeared Black Flash with a longer and more detailed explanation, but this time there was no drawing. The adjacent page had the title Infinite Flight, but the description of this was incomplete. It seemed to reach halfway down the page, arousing curiosity in Satoru. He turned the page and now appeared Red Reversal Technique along with the Cursed Reversal Technique.

But here, only the title of the Cursed Reversal Technique appeared, and nothing else. On the page of the Red Reversal Technique, there was a title and a paragraph with a somewhat blurry explanation. Turning the page, only the title of Simple Domain, Curtain, appeared. Turning again, Domain Expansion and Hollow Purple Technique now appeared, but the title seemed somewhat blurry. Seeing this in his grimoire, Satoru had a hypothesis.

"It could be that it already has a record of the techniques, but if it doesn't have an explanation or the page is incomplete, it seems that it can't be used."

But before he could continue making hypotheses, everything around him turned black and white. Seeing how his room was, Satoru realized that this had happened before when he was still a child. In the same way, a white envelope with a red detail in the center appeared.

He grabbed the envelope floating in front of him and opened it. Inside was a folded sheet, which he took out and unfolded to start reading.

[Congratulations on obtaining your grimoire. We offer our greatest congratulations on getting this far. Now, as you know, you were reincarnated into this world quickly, so your body couldn't adapt to your soul to use mana.

Now that we have solved several problems, your body and soul can adapt to this world, but before you make the choice, we must inform you what will happen next.

Your body and soul will fully adapt to the world, and now you will be able to use mana like anyone in this world. But in return, cursed energy will be greatly reduced or possibly eliminated. This is due to a balance in the world and for your body and soul, besides that your technique will adapt to use mana.

But it also comes with a slight disadvantage: you will have to train your magical power source a bit since it will start at the lowest levels. But over time, it will soon reach the levels of cursed energy you have. Additionally, your technique will need to be configured to use mana, and you may find issues using it.]

"Sounds like a nerf to my abilities."

[If you don't want to lose your cursed energy and still want to follow the path of the original Satoru Gojo, you can choose to keep your cursed energy and stay that way for the rest of your life. However, you will only be able to use mana through your grimoire, which will be the magical power source that will absorb mana from the environment and allow you to perform certain techniques, as well as create new ones. Just keep in mind that you will have to absorb mana manually unless you find a way to do it automatically.

You will also receive a slight upgrade to your grimoire as a birthday gift for your 15th birthday and a farewell gift. Once you have chosen your option, please write on the line below the following:

First option cursed – (Change from cursed energy to magical power)

Second option cursed magic – (Keep cursed energy + magical power through grimoire)

Take the necessary time and once decided, write on the line below and the changes will be made instantly. Lastly, we bid you farewell, Mr. Satoru (Takumi), and wish you the life you desire.]

"I really don't have to hesitate about this. The option I choose is this one."
