While Yuga took the two Seadras to the Pokémon Center, Chatot returned to the Grassland Sub-Ecopark, planning to find its wife, Noctowl.
Just after its breakthrough, it was too busy showing off in the store and hadn't had a chance to notify its wife and child yet!
When Chatot arrived home, its wife Noctowl and their child weren't around, which struck it as quite strange. Normally, at this time, Noctowl would be training their Little Hoothoot.
In other clan, there's the notion of strict fathers and caring mothers. But in Chatot's family, it's the opposite: Noctowl is very strict with Hoothoot ever since its potential upgraded to green. Training hasn't stopped even for a single day.
On the other hand, Chatot's carefree and easy-going Xature often leads Hoothoot to venture out with it during their leisure time. If it wasn't for the strict mother, Hoothoot would have turned into a rascal ages ago.
Chatot was pondering where its wife and child might have gone when two Swellows landed on a branch in front of its house.
"Hey, have you heard? The leader family's little darling has been born," one Swellow said.
"I heard, I heard, everyone's gone to see it! Should we also go and take a look?" the other Swellow agreed.
"Better not. Since everyone's already there, we won't get a chance to see. Let's wait until they've all left, then we can go," said the first Swellow, shaking its head.
"You're right, you're clever," nodded the first Swellow in agreement. "I wonder if the leader family's baby is a Murkrow or a Taillow!"
"It must be a Taillow, they're so adorable. Murkrow just looks like a lump of coal, not attractive at all," the second Swellow spoke with disdain for Murkrow.
Hearing this, Chatot couldn't help but laugh. Is this like the pot calling the kettle black? Do you think you Swellows and Taillows are that much better than Murkrow? Apart from the white belly, aren't you the same?
However, Chatot knew that the "leader family" mentioned by the two Swellows referred to the Swellow leader.
Some time ago, the Swellow leader and the Honchkrow had a second child, which now seemed to have hatched.
The first child of the Swellow leader and the Honchkrow was a Murkrow, which has now evolved into a Honchkrow.
Initially, when the little Honchkrow had just been born, the Swellow clan was lamenting the fact that the leader's child wasn't a Taillow but a shabby-looking Murkrow.
Of course, on the other side, the Honchkrow clan was overjoyed and, upon learning that the little Murkrow's potential was blue, they were hailing that would be a successor to their leader.
The Swellow clan was bitter.
Because the Swellow leader and the Honchkrow are a loving couple, the Swellow clan and the Honchkrow clan usually live together. But familiarity breeds contempt, and members of the two clan are often ridicule each other.
The Honchkrow clan, although rare in number, they are possesses higher overall strength compared to the Swellow clan. Additionally, the Honchkrow wife has always held a dominant position over Swellow leader, leading to a sense of arrogance within the Honchkrow clan toward the Swellow clan.
However, Dark-type Pokémon generally have an air of haughtiness, especially Pokémon like the Honchkrow, and their disdain for the Swellow clan partly arises from their character traits.
Due to the long-term "oppression" by the Honchkrow clan, the two Swellows in front of Chatot expressed a strong aversion while speaking about Murkrow.
"Ah, I wonder when I'll have a baby!" sighed the first Swellow.
"You should first find a partner! If you don't even have a partner, how do you expect to have a baby?" the second Swellow playfully teased the first, patting its head with a wing.
"What's the big deal? you just have a girlfriend, what's so extraordinary about that?" complained the first Swellow, using its wing to cover its head, exhibiting a hint of envy in its tone.
The second Swellow raised its head at this.
"It's a big deal! Having a girlfriend is indeed great. If you've got the skills, why don't you go find one too?"
The second Swellow has an Altaria girlfriend, really beautiful, which it met before Altaria moved to the Dragon's Den Sub-Ecopark. Even though now separated due to territorial reasons, the distance still short, and makes it the object of envy for the entire Swellow clan.
Now that the Altaria clan has moved to the Dragon's Den Sub-Ecopark, and if flying-type Pokémon wanted finding an Altaria as a partner isn't as easy as before.
The first Swellow suddenly felt a pang in its heart: Life is tough!
However, it stubbornly argued, "Who said I can't find a girlfriend! I'm pretty sure the neighboring Honchkrow sister has a secret crush on me. I've noticed it stealing glances at me several times!"
If the male Swellow clan members hope for an Altaria girlfriend, the females surely desire a Honchkrow boyfriend, as they are both handsome and dashing!
But the first Swellow is male, so a Honchkrow boyfriend is out of the question. Nevertheless, the Honchkrow sister next door is still quite attractive, and having her as a girlfriend would be a huge honor.
Listening to the slightly boastful words of the first Swellow, the second one secretly rolled its eyes: "Are you sure that's not just wishful thinking? Why do I hear that the neighbor Honchkrow sister you said is getting cozy with the Crobat lately!"
The first Swellow insisted, "Impossible, it mustn't be my imagination. My intuition is very accurate!"
The second Swellow casually responded, "Sure, sure, sure... then I'll be waiting for you to bring your girlfriend home."
The subsequent conversation between the two Swellows wasn't heard by Chatot, who guessed that its wife might have gone to the Swellow leader's house and hurried over.
The Grassland Sub-Ecopark mostly comprises vast grasslands with very few trees. Some trees were transplanted by Yuga for Flying-type Pokémon to build their nests conveniently.
Each tree had nests of Flying-type Pokémon, with at least one nest per tree. The Crobats, preferring dim environments, resided within tree hollows.
However, only Pokémon like Noctowl, who prefer solitude and quiet, choose to live in these low trees, far from the center of the grasslands.
The tallest tree in the entire Grassland Sub-Ecopark stands by the lakeside, known as the Lactation Tree. It's also the primary nesting ground for the largest bird species in the whole Sub-Ecopark, housing the Swellow clan, the Honchkrow clan, and the Staraptor clan.
The Lactation Tree isn't far from Chatot's home. Upon arriving, it noticed a gathering of various Pokémon, including Chatot's wife, Noctowl.
Apart from the Flying-type Pokémon, the Pachirisu, small in size and adept at climbing trees, joined the festivities. With arcs of electricity running through their bodies, ordinary Flying-type Pokémon dared not approach them, making them the rulers of the trees.
As the two Swellows mentioned, the second offspring of the Swellow leader family had indeed hatched; it was a spirited little Taillow.
At this moment, many members of the Swellow clan proudly stood on the treetops, showing off in the direction of the unflappable Honchkrow clan. But the Honchkrows, serene, half-closed their eyes, unfazed by the Swellow provocations, leaving Swellow clan feeling like they were punching cotton.
The Honchkrows: Hmph! They're all just younger siblings! Even though we're not happy, we won't show it!
Besides the Honchkrow leader, the only one genuinely happy about the birth of the little Taillow was the little Honchkrow.
The Honchkrow leader has been strict with the little Honchkrow from a young age, and, in many ways, the strictness of Noctowl towards its offspring can be attributed to the influence of the Honchkrow leader and the Ninetales Leader.
Both clan' children are Xaturally talented, and their parents have high expectations for them. Previously, when the potential of the Little Noctowl were lacking, Noctowl didn't care much. But now that its potential have improved, although not as good as the little Honchkrow or the little Ninetales, Little Noctowl cannot fall behind too much.
This is just a case of parents comparing their children.
The newly hatched little Taillow was standing on its brother's back, being carried in flight while emitting a crisp and joyous laughter from its throat.
The Swellow leader and the Honchkrow leader watched this scene with relief.
The little Honchkrow was very happy about his sister's birth. Although he didn't know about her potential, but having another child meant his mother's attention would shift to the younger sibling, making his life more easier!
In reality, it enjoys going on patrols around the town's outskirts with its Uncle Linoone, but its mother is usually too strict, giving it no chance to go out.
Spotting its wife, Chatot flapped its wings and flew over, landing next to Noctowl.
Noctowl doesn't like crowding with other Pokémon, so it stood a bit far from the rest.
Seeing Noctowl staring at the little Honchkrow and the little Taillow, Chatot nudged its wing and asked, "Where's our baby?"
Noctowl glanced disdainfully at Chatot, shifted aside, and shook its head.
Its relationship with the Swellow leader and Honchkrow leader couple was good, and today, on the birth of the little Taillow, it granted little Noctowl half a day off to congratulate the Swellow leader and Honchkrow leader couple. It allowed little Noctowl to go play with its friends.
Little Noctowl is likely currently with Ninetales and Gallade. Among all the Pokémon in the Ecopark, little Noctowl has the closest bond with these two. It's a friendship that dates back to their youth.
Upon hearing this, Chatot ceased to focus on the issue concerning the children. It was about to share its recent breakthrough with its wife when it noticed its daughter flying towards it from a distance, crying loudly.
As the little Noctowl flew closer, Chatot noticed that her feathers were all disheveled, and even a part of her eyebrow was missing.
"What... what happened?"
Chatot, observing the state of little Noctowl, asked with a heart full of concern.
Hearing her father's voice, Little Noctowl cried even louder, sobbing as she reported the incident.
It turned out that after Noctowl's mother granted Little Noctowl the day off, Little Noctowl went excitedly to the Volcano Sub-Ecopark to meet her friend. But while she was off, Ninetales didn't have a break. So Littl Noctowl had to go to find its another friend—Gallade.
Gallade was always the most leisurely among the three friends. Its parents weren't very strict with it, and it was taught by Nana, whose training methods were more efficient than others, enabling it to complete its training tasks early.
So, usually, it was the most free among them.
Gallade didn't expect Noctowl's visit. When she arrived in the main Ecopark, Gallade was about to go on an adventure with a newly made friend, the Xatu.
This Xatu was born after the Xatu clan live in the Ecopark, although its younger than Gallade but its was the best friend Gallade had in the main Ecopark.
Little Noctowl's arrival made Gallade happy. After introducing Little Noctowl to the Xatu, it invited little Noctowl to join them on the adventure, and Little Noctowl readily agreed.
Little Noctowl quite liked this new friend and found it adorable.
The three little companions then set off together to the Haunted Mansion Sub-Ecopark, then to the Dragon's Den Sub-Ecopark, followed by a visit to the Insect Paradise, and finally to the Shallow Seashore.
They were having a great time during their journey, and after spending some time together, Little Noctowl started to favor Xatu more.
But their good time at the Shallow Seashore came to a halt when they encountered a wandering Mandibuzz who took an immediate liking to Xatu. Without hesitation, Mandibuzz attempted to capture Xatu to take it home for breeding.
By Xature, in Mandibuzz's view, once it took a liking to someone, it had the right to take that someone home and breed with them.
However, little Noctowl and Xatu did not share Mandibuzz's beliefs. Upon hearing Mandibuzz's "Bold words" they became angry.
A fight broke out.
Mandibuzz was on its own and couldn't withstand the combined attack from Little Noctowl and the two other Pokémon. Soon, it was overwhelmed and crying for mercy.
However, the Shallow Seashore was home to not just one Mandibuzz, but a group of them, and the battle between the four Pokémon quickly attracted the attention of other Mandibuzz.
As a result, Gallade and Little Noctowl were beaten, and Mandibuzz arrogantly took Xatu back to its home.
After hearing Little Noctowl's intermittent account, Noctowl's mother couldn't help but feel embarrassed for her daughter. She thought it was too embarrassing for her daughter to cry over something minor and then be beaten up.
However, Chatot was furious. It couldn't even scold its precious child, how could it tolerate someone else bullying her? It had just reached the Elite level and felt extremely confident. Witnessing its daughter being bullied, it felt the need to protect her with its stalwart figure.
"Sweetheart, let's go! Dad will help you get justice!"
With these words, Chatot spread its wings and flew with great determination. Little Noctowl quickly followed, excitedly keeping pace.
Although Noctowl's mother thought Chatot was acting impulsively, she didn't try to stop him. After a moment's consideration, she secretly followed behind.
Noctowl's mother: I'm just concerned that they might go too far. I certainly didn't plan to cheer them on... probably...
When Little Noctowl returned home and told her parents about the incident, Gallade also went to report to her mentor, Gardevoir. But Nana held a special position. Could she intervene in children's fights? So, she completely ignored Gallade...
In the end, Gallade could only follow behind Chatot, cheering on the sidelines. It couldn't fight against others, so it trailed behind its friend's father as a small sidekick.
Relying on the fact that its already reached Elite level Pokémon, Chatot, accompanied by his daughter and Gallade, stormed tovthe Shallow Seashore and headed straight for the heart of the No. 3 island lake, the stronghold of the Mandibuzz clan
At the central nest of Mandibuzz on the No. 3 island lake, Xatu shivered with its wings held close to its chest, muttering "no" repeatedly.
Meanwhile, a Mandibuzz on the other side smirked sinisterly, pressing closer and closer to Xatu.
