"A skill is bound to serve the one who awakens it, no matter what. It is impossible for a skill to plan harm onto them. That is one of the laws of this world, as their entire purpose is to serve. The reason this limitation exists is that skills can evolve. And it is through these evolutions that skills can gain an ego and a will of their own. This brings us the ultimate skill Michael, The Lord of Justice.
This, by itself, should not be a problem. I know some of us in this very room hold an ultimate skill or are capable of awakening one. The problem that arrives is when the holder of skill and the one who awakened it is not the same, as it brings a conflict of interest for the skill.
And while Rudra was the one who held the skill he was not the one who awakened it."
I glanced around at the room and looked at Guy. Noticing it he spoke up.
"The one who awakened the skill was the true dragon, Star King Veldanava."
While I had grown a lot in strength I was still a relative stranger to some of the demon lords. Specifically Dagruel, Dino, and Leon. So it was important they heard what I was saying is backed up by someone they were more familiar with to avoid distrust.
Everyone in the room was now paying great attention. Even the normally sleepy and distracted Dino had a serious expression.
"Now, Why am I bringing this up? It is because Michael is now in full control of Rudra's body."
Dagruel spoke up with a serious tone.
"I have two questions. How do you know all of this? And What does this mean for the world? You said this was a matter that would decide the fate of the world."
"I will answer your second question. First of all, Veldanava is dead, and he is not coming back."
The pair of true dragons and the red primordials nodded their heads in approval of what I had just said. Backing up my statement.
"Michael is loyal only to Veldanava. So we have someone who only cares for a person that is now gone. Which means..."
I looked towards Chloe and to an item that was in front of where she was sitting.
"We have a crazy fanboy with nothing to lose." Chloe said as she reached towards the object, a memory projector.
From it, Chloe began to focus as projections of an army of angels attacking the world. The projection was limited by Chloe's own perspective during the time but it was enough to showcase the destruction it could bring. Yet the demon lords not only noticed the attack but they also noticed a few peculiar things.
"I- what is this?" Asked Leon
"These are my memories. I have a skill that allows me to time travel. Well, I cannot control it so rather than allow me to, it makes me travel through time."
The projection changed to show a different version of the events multiple times.
"I have seen this happen time and time again, but since I didn't have access to all of my memories there was nothing I could do. Until now."
"Then, why am I on the side of the angels? I would never do anything like that!" Exclaimed Leon.
And it was true, in a few of the memories that played out Leon was following the skills of Michael. Not only Leon but Dino, Velzard, and Velgrynd were among the people attacking.
"That is due to one of the sub-skills of Michael. It has the power to dominate those who hold virtue skills. Skills that hold the names of the angels Veldanava created. So anyone who has such a skill is at the risk of their minds being taken over."
Several people in the room frowned but I continued speaking.
"One of the things I was hoping to do during this Walpurgis was to fix that problem. I offer you a one-time deal. I will modify your skills so that you are no longer at risk. The only other option is to either destroy your skill voluntarily."
'Or to die.' I said in my mind.
Velzard was the first one to stand up.
"Okay. Do me first."
"Well aren't you a bold one, to declare-" I started speaking in a teasing tone by reflex before I remembered the reason for this meeting.
"*cough* Before we continue, what about you? Leon and Dino."
Leon turned to look at Chloe who gave him an encouraging nod.
"I agree" he said.
As for Dino, he seemed to have a thoughtful expression.
"*sigh* What a drag."
Dino looked up at the ceiling before speaking.
"I looked to be pretty busy working on what we saw in the image thing. So if this means I won't have to work…. I guess."
He seemed to have a lot in his mind, yet he only let those words out.
"Alright, we will deal with the fixing of skills once Walpurgis is over. For now, let's continue with the subject."
"Actually, before we continue. How is it that you are capable of modifying skills? That is something I have never heard of." said Leon.
"With a skill of course." I shrugged my shoulders. "You should know by now there is a skill for pretty much anything."
I wasn't being fully honest and it wasn't a very satisfactory answer but it was good enough. Being fully honest with myself I knew I was suspicious. But in this whole room, there were only three people I had yet to gain the trust of.
Yet I not only had the backing of the four other demon lords, Milim, Luminous, Guy, and Ramiris. But I also had the backing of two of the true dragons, along with the rest of the primordials. So while we were practically strangers, the people on my side were more than enough to trust what I was saying.
"Alright, let's continue." Leon said with a slightly annoyed tone.
"The second big thing I wanted to mention was a problem. Michael left this world with Velgrynd. It will take some time to discover which world he ran off to and for what reason."
One of the things I did before coming here was that I wanted to pinpoint the location of the target. However, when we began our search for him we discovered that he wasn't there anymore. In fact, a large portion of the East's strongest powers were gone without a trace. And they must have left some time ago since the space around the area was stable enough that any trace of large spatial travel was gone.
It was a big concern but it didn't mean that he could no longer be traced. It just meant that it would take more time than expected.
I explained the situation to the people gathered here when Dino spoke up.
"I think I know where to start. I do not know much about skills gaining personalities, but if he really is a 'fanboy' then there is a good chance he wanted to meet with someone who was really close to Veldanava, the leader of the Phantom's, Feldway. Actually, any of my old coworkers would be a good choice to look out for."
"Co-workers?" asked Ramiris
"Ah, I guess you can't remember it. I was created and named by Veldanava with my coworkers. Ever since he disappeared I haven't really spoken to them though. Plus I even became a fallen angel, so I might have lost a bit of status… Not that they did any better than I did. The one who served Veldanava the most diligently was Feldway. That's why I think he is the most likely candidate."
His statements raised a couple of eyebrows.
"That's a good starting point. In that case, there are only a few things that remain to be discussed. If we are going to search for him, how are we going to make sure our world remains protected?"
…
Discussions carried on for a while longer until we reached an agreement. We had to make several important decisions that would begin pretty shortly. But before that, we had to make sure that we wouldn't be compromised by holding virtue skills.
The demon lords had returned to their respective territories to begin preparations with the exception of Leon and Dino.
Since she was the first one to volunteer I was in a room with just Velzard. And since I was going to go ahead and change her skill I was going to copy a few things as payment.
"Alright, just stand still for a moment."
And so the process began.
[Should I upgrade the skill or should I just change it?]
'Upgrade it.'
Velzard began to feel a small change occurring in her body as her skills began to activate and react. The power in her body condensed into one singular skill, yet that skill held more power than any skill she had ever awakened before.
She heard the voice of the world speak to her.
{You have awakened the skill Cthulhu, Ice God Sovereign}
A wide grin appeared on her face before she jumped up in excitement.
"I don't know how you did this, but now I am definitely stronger than my sister! Thank you so much."
She gave me a hug before dashing away with the excuse of having to practice controlling her new strength, or also known as, trying to beat Guy.
I on the other hand obtained two new skills.
Since I had already obtained Gabriel, lord of patience from fighting Guy it was not copied. However, I did obtain the other Ultimate Velzard held, Leviathan, Lord of Envy. The core essence of Leviathan is absorption. Not only that, but it also has the power to degrade someone else's strength so that it is below the user.
And the second skill was the equivalent of Veldora, Lord of the Storm. Which was Velzard, Lord of Ice.
Following her was Leon Cromwell.
Unlike Velzard he didn't have multiple Ultimate skills, nor did he have a soul connection with me, so it was only possible to change his skill.
The skill I copied and modified from him was Metatron, Lord of Chastity. It had turned into Enoch, Lord of Innocence. It might not appear to be a big change but this skill would no longer risk Leon being controlled. So it was more than enough. The power that came with this skill was put simply as "An ability that draws the purest energy possible from power, magic, aura, and skill. Its attribute is Light (Purification) which is specialized in purifying demons.".
He gave a small thanks before leaving to talk to Chloe.
And the last person was Dino. He seemed a bit reluctant but after standing on the corner for a bit with a thinking expression he stepped forward.
His skill Luciel, fallen king, was a combination of Guy's pride and Milim's Wrath. And it became Prometheus, the one who defied.
From him, I gained the skill sloth. The final skill I needed to complete Yaldabaoth. And it was at that moment I heard Ciel's voice in my head.
[The skill Yaldabaoth is awakening to its full potential.]
...
Alternative title: Info dump? I don't know what you are talking about.
Once again, gotta trust the process, there's a few thing I couldn't get to in this chap.
