3 Lesson 2: The Absorption System

Voice:'I'm sure we will find out what those spirits are later. We will just wait with that. We can go ahead and use your other skills to get you more skillpoints.'

Kid."We can get a few quests done in the meantime right?"

Voice:'Yes, i suppose we are able to do a high C-Rank quest. Choose one yourself.'

I looked at all the C-Rank quests i found, from Hobgoblins, over to mutated plants. The one I chose in the end was exploring a nearby dungeon. The monsters expected there were around D-Rank, with Goblins etc, except the stage bosses with C-Rank. I went to the counter with the flyer and the receptionist smiled.

R:"Do you want to take this quest? It's a rather easy one. I suspect it would be troubling with your level."

Kid:"I'm fine. Just testing my new skills."

R:"Fine then. I wrote it into the logbook. All left to do is complete the request."

Kid:"Umm, can I get an explanation on ranks first?

R:"Ah.. Sure. I forgot you were a new one. I will write it down for you, from the highest to the lowest, first guild ranks and then threat levels."

X Rank: Unknown strength, unmeasurable. Level above 1000

SS Rank: Strong enough to conquer countrys alone Level from 900 to100

S Rank: Able to destroy or take over small cities Level from 700 to 900

A Rank: Most monsters are killable, can conquer cities without military. Level 400 to 700

B Rank: Rather strong, can take on most quests with enough preparation. Level 250 to 400

C Rank: The most common Rank here, it is usually above average. Can put up a fight with Rank B.

Level 100 to 250

D Rank: The lowest one to find here, as it is strong enough to guard carriages for goblins. Leve 50 to

100

Monsters:

God: Unbeatable. Don't offend it.

Sacred Beast: X Rank or a Party of SS can take it down, with harsh casualties

Titan: SS Rank will have a hard time alone

Demon: A highly skilled S Rank can beat it

Lesser Demon: Mutated C-Rank, Strength around A Rank.

A Rank: Easily beatable by A Rank or a party of B Rank

B Rank: Beatable by B Rank or C Rank party

R:"The monsters rank only repeats itself on lower levels. Up to F Rank."

Kid:"Okay... So I'm around upper B?"

R: "Yes... The C Rank mission should be no problem."

Voice:'Well, let's go now. You told me you wanted strength fast.'

*Okay.*

We ran to the entrance and the guard asked for my guild card. He looked on it and stepped back quite a bit. He then let us past and we entered the dungeon.

Voice: 'Okay. To get good data on your levels, we will count your Skillpoints before and after. Open your status menu'

I open it up.

Kid:"What?"

Voice: 'I cannot see. What happened?'

Kid:"At Absorption magic - there is the possibility to make a contract?

Voice:'Okay, change in plans. We will leave for a few hours and test that out'

Kid:"Okay, but why?"

Voice:'I think you might be able to summon something and leveling it with you is more efficient.'

Kid:"You are pretty smart!"

Voice:'Haaha, I only have wisdom. Not intelligence.'

We went out and a few kilometers away. I climbed up a tree and clicked the contract button. Then a menu opened:

[Please choose a God you want to contract with. For further information click the gods profile you wish to see.] That paired with many pictures, apparently those of gods, made me uncomfortable.

Kid:"Hey voice... I have a menu here. I can... choose a god to contract with."

Voice:'Wha.... Okay, that is your choice. Look at them first.'

I clicked through the gods profiles and marked a few ones i found interesting.

Shiva - Goddess of Ice

Gilgamesh - God of Babylon?

Midas - God of Gold

Chronos - The God of time

Kid."I have found a few... Can i get your opinion?"

Voice:'Sure. Show me.'

I show him the profiles and he thinks for a bit, while interrupting my thoughts with his.

Voice:'I think to have heard the name Gilgamesh before. He roamed Gaia in my lifetime. He is the only human ever to kill a god and take his place. It is risky, but i would take him'

Kid:"He was able to kill a god as a human? How strong is he now?"

Voice: 'Probably insanely strong. Give it a try if you want to know.'

I clicked the contract button at the bottom and a key appeared in my hand.

[Open the gods domain with the key to form a contract]

I swung the key around but nothing happened.

Voice: 'Try shoving it into the tree.'

I put it in and turned it, as the tree didn't resist the movement at all. A gate opened.

Voice: 'I cannot see through that... You might have to enter there without me.'

Kid:"O-Okay...."

I enter the golden gate and see a big, blond haired man standing faced to a throne.

?:"Hello. Welcome to Babylon."

He turned aroud and smiled.

Kid:"Your-Your eyes are red."

?:"Don't worry. That is just my eye color. So you want to contract?"

Kid:"Yes."

Gilgamesh?:"A very determined one,huh? Well, you have to pass my test first."

Kid:"Give me the test then!"
