Chapter 79

While Naruto and the Snake Summon were engaged in their battle, Orochimaru finally found the hidden Sasuke and Sakura.

By this time, Sakura had woken up and her mind, which had been influenced by genjutsu, had improved considerably.

On the other hand, Sasuke was emanating an aura of tension throughout his entire body, clenching his fists tightly and scanning the surroundings vigilantly.

Sakura, after examining her body, which was intact despite her previous situation, and then looking around to see Sasuke guarding her, exclaimed with joy, "Sasuke, did you save me?"

She turned her gaze around and continued, "Where's Naruto? Could it be that Kaze has come out again to fight and is going after that terrifying long snake creature?"

The mere thought of Kaze, with his immense power, somewhat reduced Sakura's anxiety.

But as soon as she finished speaking, the ground beneath her feet suddenly shook, and there was an earth-shaking roar in the distance.

Following the sound and looking up, Sakura was instantly stunned in place, her face filled with fear.

"What is that!?"

"How could there be such an enormous snake! It's a hundred times larger than the one that nearly ate me!"

"It's the summoned beast of that strange guy with the long tongue who we fought against," Sasuke replied with a low voice.

He looked at the Snake Summon, far away, with its colossal tail raised high into the air due to some unknown great force.

He couldn't help but punch the nearby tree trunk with great force.

"Naruto is battling that monster-sized snake, not Kaze. He's using Nine-Tails chakra!"

Since Kaze had used the power of the Nine-Tails multiple times, combined with Naruto's own reckless actions, Sasuke and Sakura were now aware that the Nine-Tails was sealed within Naruto.

"Naruto is using Nine-Tails' chakra, then fighting that monster snake!?"

Sakura gasped in disbelief.

"Isn't it Kaze who's supposed to control it? Why can Naruto suddenly use it as well?"

It was like the class's underachieving student suddenly becoming the city's competition champion.

This abrupt reversal was hard for Sakura to accept.

If Sakura found it hard to believe, Sasuke was even more affected.

Hearing the earth-shaking roars in the distance and watching the Myriad Snake being struck to the ground and thrashing wildly, Sasuke's face twisted with anger.

He couldn't control his emotions and began punching the tree trunk furiously.

"Why does Naruto have such a powerful alter ego, and now he can wield the immense power of the Nine-Tails?"

"Meanwhile, I put in so much effort into training, learn A-rank jutsu, practice Shape Transformation without sleep, yet all I can do is keep running, getting defeated by enemies, hiding behind others!"

"Why, just why is everything given to that idiot with no talent?"

"Even though my potential is higher, I carry the blood-soaked vengeance that requires this power!"

"Why, why has everything been given to that useless, stupid brat?"

The tree trunk was indented in numerous places, leaves showering down as Sasuke punched it relentlessly.

If he had this immense power, he would not have been paralyzed with fear during those nightmarish nights.

His parents would not have met a tragic end, the Uchiha clan would not have been annihilated, everyone would still be alive.

All of this was because he lacked sufficient power, leaving him vulnerable to harm.

Just like what happened in the Wave Country and what just transpired.

Thinking of this, Sasuke recalled the words of Haku, who had said something to him earlier.

He raised his head, and with a stern and malevolent expression, he stared into the distance.

"Even if I have to betray the Hidden Leaf Village, as long as you can grant me power, what does it matter to me?"

"Even if I have to abandon everything I have now, I will do so!"

As she looked at the somewhat frantic Sasuke and heard his unsettling words, Sakura was momentarily taken aback.

"Sasuke, you—"

Before Sakura could voice her inquiry, a light chuckle echoed from behind her.

"Hehehe... Sasuke-kun, gaining power is actually quite easy, you know! All you have to do is be willing to make a deal with the devil for your soul."

Perched upside down on the tree trunk was Orochimaru. He had been eavesdropping for quite a while, and to his surprise, Sasuke had formed this idea on his own without any need for guidance.

So now, Orochimaru was quite pleased and excited.

"You weren't stopped by Naruto, I see!"

"Sakura, come quickly!"

In an instant, Sasuke switched into combat mode, swiftly hurling shuriken towards Orochimaru, who was dangling from the tree.

Faced with the shuriken swiftly encircling him in the air, Orochimaru gracefully leaped out of harm's way.

"Don't be so hasty. I just want to make a deal with you, to grant you a power not weaker than Naruto's."

"A power not weaker than Naruto's?" Sasuke's brow furrowed. He had stopped in his tracks, though he didn't entirely believe Orochimaru.

Still, he wouldn't pass up any slim possibility.

"Sasuke, don't listen to his nonsense. Let's go find Naruto and ask him to summon Kaze to deal with this strange guy!"

Sakura, sensing that something was off, immediately approached Sasuke and tried to lead him away from the area.

But Sasuke remained motionless, his gaze fixed firmly on Orochimaru ahead.

"That's right." Orochimaru paid no mind to Sakura beside him and nodded. He then formed hand seals.

"I am Orochimaru. You should have heard of my name."

"I can offer you a power that you'll be absolutely satisfied with, and I'll also have my subordinates come for some experiments with you."

"Orochimaru!" Although they might not have heard of him before, they were already familiar with Orochimaru's name thanks to the Root Anbu's intelligence sharing.

Seeing the shocked expressions on their faces, Orochimaru nodded in satisfaction.

Then, his neck suddenly elongated, swiftly extending towards Sasuke!

Having been stopped by Naruto before, Orochimaru now aimed to reapply the Cursed Seal of Heaven on Sasuke!

Whoosh!

Crack!

Sasuke felt a sharp pain on his neck and hastily jabbed a kunai towards Orochimaru's head.

But Orochimaru had already rapidly retracted his bitten head.

"Ugh! It hurts! My body!"

Clutching the Three Tomoe Seal on his neck, Sasuke felt intense pain all over, as if he were being tortured.

"Sasuke!" Sakura hurried forward to support him. She turned angrily towards Orochimaru.

"You bastard! What have you done to him?"

"I haven't harmed Sasuke. I just gave him something he hopes for."

With a smile, Orochimaru's body slowly sank into the ground.

Just as he was about to leave, a terrifying chill filled the air, causing him to swiftly leap out of the ground and land a short distance away.

Where he had been standing, the ground was now covered in a thick layer of ice crystals.

Simultaneously, a figure in white appeared beside Sasuke.

"It's a good thing I arrived in time, or else the mission assigned by my master would have failed."
