Happy New Year, Guys!

"Magician, I will kill you at any cost!"
With a shout, the demonic mana around him flared up and without any more reserve, Oliver started to launch magic attacks towards me.
'Why is he so hyped out!'
Not knowing that my evasion flared up his superiority complex, I continued to dodge Oliver's attacks making him more and more stronger with rage.
"Die!"
And Oliver raised his hands, shooting out beams of red light whose destructive power was enough to evaporate me in one strike.
'I have to dodge it all.'
Overclock, the overpowered power in my arsenal showed his effect once again. The magic attacks were indeed very fast, but it doesn't stand a chance against my hyper perception.
I continued to dodge all those small numerous beams of mana with minimal movement, dodging it while consuming as low stamina as possible.
'Huh? He is dodging it all.'
Oliver despite his instinctive outburst was surprisingly calm. After all, the fact he is the only sane devil in the world isn't a light matter.
'How is he doing that?'
Despite becoming a devil, Oliver was far from a barbarian. His talent in magic was no less than the main protagonist. After all, he created the flying magic using the concept of anti-gravity despite having no modern knowledge.
And Oliver was now intrigued with the unnatural event happening in front of him. The kid - Kurt was dodging his consecutive mana attacks, and that too with ease.
As if he has a pair of eyes on the back of his head. But that wasn't a mystery to him. With high magic sensitivity one can do that. He himself can do that as well. What surprised him was that agility, that impossible reaction time.
It is humanly, no, even demonly impossible. If someone rains the same kind of attacks on him, even he doubts whether he can dodge them all.
"That's a magic spell."
He was sure. Like it was a body enhancement spell. But he couldn't figure out the mechanics behind it.
"This kid is dangerous!"
The fact that this kid can use a magic which even he can't decipher made him aware that his instincts that warned him were not fake.
And that made him more active to kill him, all for his ambition.
"If he can dodge all those attacks, then… All I have to do is to make sure he can't dodge!"
Oliver raised both of his hands and mana started to gather, forming a huge ball of red demonic mana that seemed out of control.
—
"These fluctuations…"
Even without turning back, I could feel the massive mana fluctuations, enough to destroy the entire mansion. The ball of corrupted mana in his hands is nothing but a literal bomb.
"Is he bent on killing me?"
I couldn't understand his reasons, but I have no time to meddle in the search of his thoughts. I am quite busy looking for ways to save my life!
'Should I employ barriers? No, that wouldn't work. I don't have enough magic power to defend that much power with barriers. What should I do?'
Maybe it was an effect of Overclock, but my mind was running fast. Yet I couldn't find a method.
"Kurt, leave me."
In this desperate moment, constantly looking for ways to escape Miria's soft words worked like a brake bringing my wild rash thoughts to halt.
"Miria… What are you talki—"
"You clearly know what I am talking about."
Do I know? Of course, I do.
She wants me to abandon her and escape, trying to increase my chances of survival against the devil. It is true that it might be possible to escape if I am alone.
But why did I come to this place in the first place? I came to get you - Miria. And now are you telling me to abandon you?
"No. I refuse!"
Knowing her stubborn nature and loyalty, I took out an enchanted rope, which flew and tied her arms and legs. I made it in my spare time, who knew there would be a time to use it.
"T-This… Kurt! There is no other way out!"
Miria struggled, tried more force to get out of her bound hands, but her strength wasn't enough to break the magic rope.
"If there is no way to escape, then all I can do is to face him."
That's right. With my bad luck, even my easy routes morph into hard ones giving me quite a time. This is the same. Though this route's danger has elevated to a higher scale.
I turned around, and looked at the magic bomb for the first time.
"Damn! No wonder, I got huge mana fluctuations."
It was nothing but huge rampage mana clumped into a small sphere. And after releasing it, the demonic mana would erupt out and demolish everything in its radius.
Looking at it, I was regretting the decision of fighting it head on for a bit. But like one said, true men don't look at the past.
"Let's do th—!"
I felt a force, pulling me from behind. And without a doubt, I knew who it was. Miria, how many times— Huh?
I turned my head in annoyance but my eyes widened after looking at her face. Tears were falling from eyes, and one could see anguish and fear both at the same time present in it. And despite the fact her hands were tied, she was grappling on my shirt's edge with clear intention to stop me.
"P-Please, run away."
"You…"
I didn't understand. Why? Why does she look that desperate to stop me? But all that confusion vanished after her following words.
"I… I don't want to lose anyone I love because of me again! My ignorance made my parents die. And my petty revenge, made you involved in such danger."
'Ah! I see it.'
Miria is filled with guilt. She deems all her sadness as a product of her faults. Her parents died because she disobeyed the noble's son. She wanted revenge, but in the midst of it, not only she failed to kill the noble with her own hands but also got involved in such a danger.
She is afraid that she might lose the next most precious thing to her - Me.
"That's why please, Kurt. Escape from here. If something happened to you, then I—!"
Before she could say any more heart-wrenching words, I blocked her lips with the best insulator. My lips were on hers, and without a doubt, it was my first kiss.
'Even villains have hearts.'
Her figure of guilt and self-blame was so fickle, that I couldn't help but console her. Her words were proof that she is in love with me. And I too was in love with her.
"Mmh! Mmph!"
I grasped her head and pushed my lips, and hugged her as tight as I could, letting her feel my warmth and doing the same in return.
'Ah… So warm.'
A drop of tear flowed down from Miria's left eye, but unlike her previous ones, this carried an emotion of happiness.
In the middle of danger, where death is unknown, all that present was the figures of me and her kissing each other.
'My first kiss!'
And without a doubt, I was freaking out inside after taking the initiative, but I really enjoyed it.
