13 Chapter 13. Bluesphere Empire

"Stop clinging to me, mother!"

Today is the day I am finally departing from the mansion to become a demon hunter. And before I could even leave, I'm already stuck with a problem.

"B-But, Kurt…"

Her eyes filled up with tears and she started to smother me with it.

"S-Stop it, mother!"

My mother, despite agreeing about my departure yesterday, now clings to me like a leech, not letting me move a muscle.

'I knew something like this would happen.'

With her love, it is weirder if she doesn't do something like this.

'Damn! I can't breathe!'

Her grip tightened and I couldn't breathe just like the day I reincarnated. And like drowning man in need of breath, I started tapping her shoulders as fast as I could.

"Darling, that's enough. He can't breathe."

Father patted her shoulders, and that's when she finally released me. I took a deep breath and noted my good luck to survive one of her hugs.

To this point, I think I have adapted to her literal breath-taking hugs. 

"Well then, I am leaving now."

"Kurt, be careful."

"Yeah. Don't worry. It won't take long for me to return."

"And don't forget to send letters!"

"Yes, mother!"

And with that I sat down on the merchant's carriage which was going to take me to my destination – Bluesphere Empire, the land of nobles.

Bluesphere Empire. Or in my words, the land of nobles.

Originally, it was a collection of small countries until one king conquered it all and made it one big empire naming it - Bluesphere Empire.

The reason for me to describe it as the land of nobles, is because in this Empire, the practice of nobility is taken to extreme.

'If Kurt was born in this nation, he sure would become a perfect fit for it.'

The commoners exist for nobles. That's belief the nobles carried, and brainwashed the commoners to believe it as well.

And as a result, there is heavy taxation, no productivity and full corruption. Better to say, this Empire is very similar to the Empire from Akame ga Kill.

But despite all problems, one aspect of this nation is what makes it great. And that is its military strength. Even Earlshide Kingdom is out in terms pure military strength.

And the reason for me to become a demon hunter in this specific nation is because…

"It is the nation of the main antagonist."

The main antagonist was a high ranked noble – a duke in this nation who actually worked for the betterment of the people instead of exploiting them like other nobles.

And in fear of his rising popularity among the citizens that could land him as a king, the opposing nobles brainwashed the same commoners he has been helping in his life to kill his pregnant wife, making him lose control over his mana in rage and become a demonoid or devil.

"It's such a cliché story."

But even if it's a cliché one, it doesn't change the fact that I am in danger even in this story!

"If I could save the main antagonist before he becomes a devil…"

I groaned but even I knew that it was impossible. Because the event happened even before I was born in this world!

"Well, even if I can't change the fact of him becoming a devil, I can change the fact of others."

That's right. I am not just departing to Bluesphere Empire to hunt demons, but also to recruit the supporting characters of the main antagonist. Specially the devil who is strong enough to match the protagonist in terms of combat – Miria! 

"There are only two ways to become a winner. Either become better and overpower you opponents, or make your opponents worse and then overpower them."

And I am going to do both, become better and make my opponents worse as well.

"Now, I feel like a villain!"

After travelling for several days, the carriage finally arrived at the destination – Bluesphere Kingdom.

'I arrived quite faster than I expected. Aren't the horses tired after pulling it continuously?'

And then I looked at the leather bands with some kind of red stone on the horses' heads and remembered the tool. That's a magic tool made by the Guru.

"If I remember correctly, it relieves the fatigue of a horse."

That tool can relieve the fatigue of a horse. Then can't it do the same for humans? Why didn't she make it for humans?

"Oh! I get it. If made for humans, it will be utilized in wrong ways."

Who would benefit the best from the tool? And that would be the military of nations. A soldier that doesn't get tired. It's a long-lost wish for the militaristic nations like Bluesphere Empire.

"But still magic tools can relieve the fatigue. Then… can't I make an object with the role of absorbing magic power?"

If I can do that, then I would be able to solve my deficiency of magic power! What didn't I think of it before?!

With that I put the enchantment practice as the most priority in my mind.

Soon, the carriage entered the gates after giving a few coins to the guard, and I arrived at the capital of the Bluesphere Empire.

"Thank you for your ride, Jack-san."

"No need for it, Kurt-sama."

Bidding him farewell, I got off the carriage and looked at the bustling capital of the Bluesphere Kingdom.

"It's worse than I expected."

In every street, I could see a beggar lying down for alms. The people all around are moving around in a rush not caring about anyone. The atmosphere of the place itself isn't bright like Earlshide Kingdom. The contrast between both nations made my eyes open.

"I better be careful."

And as you know, my words raised a flag before I knew it.

"Hey kid! You seem to be quite rich! How about give us some money, and we let you go to your daddy?"

'I hate my villain luck!'
