I can see them. The dark figures at the end of the alley. I can't see their faces but I know they are looking straight at me. They are waiting. Waiting at the right moment to attack like a nocturnal prey aiming patiently for their food. I turned around and saw another two figures walking towards me. I shiver with fear with these dark figures trying to catch me. My body goes numb. I want to run but I can't move. I can't escape. I'm overwhelmed with fear.
"No!" I screamed.
I woke up from a bad dream. It was bright. My eyes close and open again to adjust to the brightness of the light. I can see the white ceiling and a sliding window with yellow curtains on my bedside. The sun is so bright outside. It's a beautiful morning to be awake.
"Georgina!" I heard a soft trembling voice of a woman. I turn my head and saw her standing at the doorway. a middle-aged lady with an elegant dress. Her eyes glistened with tears. She looks stunned at my sight.
"Oh my God! You're awake.." Her voice is shaking. Her tears started to fall.
Is she talking to me?
"Oh, Georgina! My baby!"
She walks towards me. Her tears falling her cheeks.
Who is this woman? Why is she crying?
Another woman appeared in the room wearing a white coat. She is also surprised to see my blinking eyes. She went straight at me. She has a stethoscope hanging on her shoulder. She must be a doctor
"Georgina, do you hear me?" She asked me.
Georgina?
"What's happening? Where am I?" I asked in a hoarse voice.
"You're in the hospital, Miss Aragon. You were in an accident 6 months ago." The doctor answered.
"Accident? Aragon.."
A group of doctors entered the room. They examined my eyes and legs and they asked me questions.
The woman still crying while touching my face and hand.
"You're gonna be fine sweetie. The doctors will take care of you." She said in a reassuring voice.
"Who are you?" I asked confused.
The woman looks stunned. Her mouth hangs open for a moment before she looks to the group of doctors for an answer.
After a series of questions, they all left except a nurse checking my IV and the crying lady who is now busy with her phone calling people to come.
She put down her phone and look at me. Her eyes are all puffy and she's about to cry again. I feel sorry for her. I really can't remember her. How much I try to search in my brain.
One of the doctors said earlier I might have amnesia. I can't remember anything even my name. They said I'm Georgina Aragon but it felt strange. It's unfamiliar.
"Georgina!"
An old man entered the room followed by a young beautiful woman. They all dress well. They seem like rich people
They all run towards me. They were all surprised. Their eyes are watery.
"You're awake.." The young woman uttered in disbelief and excitement.
The older man embraced me. He's crying silently on my shoulder.
After a minute, the lady speaks directly to the man.
"Henry, we need to talk outside."
He let go and look at my face ignoring the woman.
"I knew it. I knew that you will return to us."
"W-who are you?" I asked.
The man look confused and glanced at the older lady.
"Henry, we need to speak to the doctors now." The woman said urgently.
He nodded gently then look at me with concern.
The three left the room but the young lady returned after a minute.
"How are you feeling?" She asked as soon as she entered the room.
"Tired," I answered.
"You can't remember me but I'm your older sister, Bettany."
"Sister.." I muttered.
"The couple earlier is our parents. Henry and Aurelia. They are talking to the doctors right now. Don't worry. Everything will be fine." She said in a reassuring voice. Then she embraces me.
"I'm so happy that you are finally awake. I thought-" Her voice trembles. A teardrop fall and she tried to look away.
"What happened to me?" I asked.
"You were in an accident. It was bad. You went into a coma and the doctors said that there's a very thin chance you'd survive. Mom and Dad were devastated but they didn't lose hope. Here you are. You're a fighter. " She smiled.
The man and woman entered and the woman is crying again quietly.
"Aurelia, calm down." The man whispered to her.
"What's wrong?" Bettany asked.
"They're going to examine her for a few days. She has amnesia and they don't know when her memory will return." Henry answered.
"It's fine. What's important now is she's awake. Her memory will return eventually."
I looked at the woman. She's my mother but I can't remember her. She looks sad.
"Please stop crying," I said.
She gazed at me in her tearful eyes. She embraced me and it felt really warm.
"I'm so sorry Georgina. It's all my fault. I'm a bad mother."
"Mom." Bettany interrupted."You should go home. You need rest. I'll stay with Georgina today."
"No. I want to stay here."
They all look happy and sad at the same time but they seem more grateful.
A few minutes later, two police officers arrive and asked a series of questions that I can't answer because I can't remember a thing. They told me I was in a car accident that hit a tree. I was speeding.
