I am controlled by a D20?!

Mike was a high school nerd who liked role-playing games that involved role-playing (of course), dice rolling, and yelling at a piece of plastic because he rolled a one. He loved to buy gear and merchandise for every game he played to be invested in his character. One day a small piece of gear would change his life forever. After buying an extremely cheap D20 mike now has access to a character sheet of himself!? Now Mike has to roll for almost every action that he does or wants to do. In order to get rid of the dice for good and return home Mike has to go on epic quests to survive across the multiverse completing quests and hopefully finding whoever gave him the die.

Skill Steal

In the sea of grass (plains that Mike is in) if one were near the supposed center of the plain they could see a teenager (who is almost a man) in teddy bear pajamas yelling at the top of his lungs.

"Did I just hit the motherload?!"

'Skill Crystal: Skill Steal

Once the crystal is destroyed the user may gain the skill to take one skill of any being once per day. The skill can only activate on a living creature'

Without waiting a moment longer Mike squeezes the crystal and it breaks into a small explosion of light blue fragments. The fragments began to spin gently around Mike until they stopped and converged towards him. When they made contact with Mike's pajamas and passed through until they entered his skin. The entire process was painless but he did begin to feel an uncomfortable sense of cold hit Mike's body as the crystal penetrated his skin causing him to shiver a little.

...

Even though Mike could not use the skill right now he was still excited at the prospect of steal other people's skills and using them for his own. However, looking around Mike realized that he had a more pressing matter to deal with than how to meet the requirements of the skill. Mike had to figure out where he was.

Looking around the plains that were the only thing for miles around Mike were at an impasse on what to do. The problem was whether Mike should stay at the destroyed bed or try searching for some sign of civilization. Thinking back to when Mike was in this type of situation from when he would play roleplaying games he came to the conclusion that leaving was a better choice. Mike picks a direction and starts to move away from his destroyed bed.

As Mike begins to leave the bed he soon finds that the feeling of unease is returning like last night before he went back to bed and then ended up here. While Mike was feeling unease he soon felt something in his right hand. Looking down Mike saw the black die in his grasp once more. Dumbfounded Mike looks at the die and sees that it is the same die as before.

Then once again the die turns into a black goo that this time does not stick to Mike's fingers but goes through them.

The goo reforms into a die as it falls to the floor and begins to roll. Mike looks visibly confused as the dice rolls in the grass. That confusion is soon replaced by horror as he remembers the first notification he read when he woke up in the field.

'Mike rolled a natural 1'

Horrified Mike tries to reach out and stop the dice from rolling any more but it is too late and the die has already stopped. In Mike's mind, he sees the number 16. Mike feels instantly relieved upon seeing the number appear as the higher the roll of the dice the better off a character would be. When Mike looked for the dice which had now disappeared but now there was a glowing path in front of Mike. He realized that this must be his way out of the plains.

Following the path a few minutes later Mike exits the plains. On the horizon, Mike sees a town not too far away which to Mike almost looked like heaven. He starts running towards the town with the hope of getting help.

Requirements: Have at least a Dex of 5

Skill level 1/10

...

'Wait skills have levels?' Mike thinks that as he closes the skills list. Mike looks at the town in the distance and sees that he still has a ways to go before actually being in the town. So Mike tries out a new skill and finds that he has to either say the skill out loud or just in his head. When Mike starts running again he sees that he is a little bit faster but the change is not drastic enough that he could say outrun a car in his old world. Pretty soon though Mike sees that there is a drawback of using the skill continuously. The drawback is Mike being heavily fatigued and tired like he just ran 2 marathons back to back.

It also did not help that Mike was in bear pajamas that were not very breathable especially in the blazing sun. So Mike collapses on the ground as he realized the drawback a little too late.

After resting for a few minutes Mike is feeling a little better and tries jogging to the town instead of sprinting straight to it. Now what Mike thought was a town was actually a city which is why it looked so close but in actuality, it was very far. Upon realizing this Mile felt elated as a city would have a higher chance of having someone who could help him.

The city walls were about 10 meters (If you don't know how tall that is it is 32 feet) with guards on the top of the walls making rounds. The wall was surrounded by a moat with a lowered drawbridge that had people on it going through a customs check in order to enter the city.

Mike felt the stares of people who were watching this man in teddy bear pajamas get in line to enter the city. Mike felt very uncomfortable with all the people staring at him as he was in line. Some kids pointed at him and their parents couldn't help but chuckle as he was in what could be considered as a clown costume.

When Mike went through the gate there was a guard sitting at a desk with a quill in his hand, two stacks of parchments to the side, and a bottle of ink. He looks Mike up and down before grabbing a parchment from one of the stacks before dipping the quill in the ink.

"Name and reason for visiting?" he asks

"Uh... Michael Bridlington. As for my reason, I am here to visit a relative"

As soon as Mike says that he feels the uneasiness come back to him. Mike looks at his hand expecting to see the black dice once more but it is not there but instead, he sees the number 11 appear in his mind.

The guard looks at Mike for a bit before writing down the false information Mike gave him. Feeling relieved at seeing that he was going to be able to enter the city Mike was soon given entry into the city.

Looking around the city Mike can see that the city was in a medieval fantasy world like that of his roleplaying games. Mike saw elves on great elks moving down the street, dwarves walking into bars as well as blacksmiths, and other fantasy races going about their business. Most people took notice of Mike as his clothes were anything but outlandish to everyone.

Taking notice of this Mike tries to find someplace to buy clothes. Looking around Mike notices that most of the signs have images instead of actual words so find someplace that might sell clothes looks really easy. Eventually, Mike finds such a place and enters the shop.

Entering the shop Mike is greeted by a lady flying straight into him. Mike flys out the door with the lady and lands in the middle of the street as people begin to stare and wonder what in the world happened. As people take notice Mike is perplexed by what in the world happened to him and why a lady was on top of him. The lady was also patting Mike's head which made him feel slightly uncomfortable with it but there was not much he could do as the lady was on top of him.

"Erm... lady can you please get off of me please?"

"Hum hum. Eh... wait you're a human?..."

"Yes... I am a human"
