Meeting with Vampires (5)

With the quest accepted all that Mike would have to do is just give the Castleburn's the documents in his inventory and he would be able to accept the rewards, but still with this new quest Mike was a bit disappointed because he realized that Gary said he would be able to increase the rewards from the systems exp but Mike was not sure that Gary would be able to notice it now that he was back in their fighting for his life to prevent himself from being killed.

"So where are the documents?" Mr. Castleburn asks

"I have them in a sort of storage item that I have. If you want me to hand them all over to you I will gladly do so now," Mike answers

"Excellent then let us see them," Mr. Castleburn says

Mike opens up his system and moves the items from there and places them onto the table. Apparently, with a bit of imagination, Mike can take and place any item in his inventory and move it within a limited range to that position. Taking in objects though Mike has to actually be touching the object he wants to put them inside his inventory.

The all the crates of documents that Mike was holding onto Mike was now able to find some use with them. Don't think that Mike would hold onto them indefinitely as he would have found some use to gain some value out of them through various means such as selling them to the Castleburn's but now that they were here and a quest related to them was made Mike was glad that he was getting the hang of his system.

"These are all the documents that were in the room if you need to check them go ahead I can wait for my employers to check the quality of the goods," Mike says as he leans back in his chair

"Hm... there will be no need to check as I believe that we should have some sort of trust between us so I ask that you please name a price for the documents as we did state that we would be paying you for any sort of quest you complete," Irina says as she glances at the documents that Mike took out

"Hm... how does 1,000 gold coins sound for this?" Mike offers

"Really now? Do you think that these documents are really worth that much?" Mr. Castleburn scoffs at Mike's price as he wants to take advantage of Mike's ignorance and lower the price as much he can

"I do believe so as I have taken a look at all of them and trust me when I say there are some juicy secrets in there that people don't want to be let loose," Mike says in full confidence

"I highly doubt that you went through everything by yourself in the short span that you had them," Mr. Castleburn retorts

"Oh really... In this box, there is a document at the bottom of the box detailing how last year a certain young noble from the capital came here to the city and indulged himself in those slaves of the opposite gender, before giving quite a large sum of money to your family to silence those people that they had fun with," Mike says as he points to a box on the table

At that Irina looks a bit confused at his words but Mr. Castleburn's eyes widen and his face happens to become even paler than before.

"Shall I tell you the noble who did that?" Mike asks

"No... 1,000 gold coins is a reasonable price for such secrets," Mr. Castleburn says

"Good to hear and don't worry I don't intend to sour our new relationship by telling my master about the contents of the documents as they have nothing to do with the reason why we are here and I would rather not anger anyone else," Mike assures Mr. Castleburn as he probably was thinking about the implications of Mike knowing about these secrets

"I guess I can only your for it," Mr. Castleburn replies as his facial expression turn to normal

"Now then is there anything else you need me to do?" Mike asks

"Not that I can think of," Mr. Castleburn says

"Good, then I guess I will take my leave then if you don't mind?" Mike asks respectively as he needs to get back to the inn as he has been out for a while

'Ding'

Quest [Document Recovery] completed and the rewards are ready to be collected

"Ah, I almost forgot!" Irina exclaims as Mike was standing up but he sits back down seeing as there is still more to do

"For us to remain in contact with each other, we will give you a communication amulet," Irina says as she takes out a gold-colored amulet with a red gem in the middle

"What is this thing?" Mike asks as he takes it from her and holds it gingerly

"This amulet uses magic to communicate with other amulets that are synced with it. With this we can contact you for giving information about your missions and other matters while you can do the same," Irina explains

"What does it run on?"

"It runs on the magic inside the gem in the middle and it is very useful in that this magic gem is strong enough to be recharged multiple times through your own magic," Irina says

"Must have cost a lot to purchase this," Mike comments as he moves to pocket the amulet but places it into his inventory

"It did and we were very fortunate to purchase three of them when a traveling merchant magic-user happened to pass the city," Irina says

'Interesting' Mike thinks as he never would have thought that there would be a magic-user who would be willing to not join a kingdoms arsenal but instead travel around selling stuff

"So who can I contact with this?" Mike asks

"Currently we have the other two amulets and they are all connected so when you call we will both see it," Mr. Castleburn says while also threatening Mike for some reason

'Does he really think that I want to steal his daughter away from him?' Mike thinks to himself as the two of them kinda have a staring match for a second before pulling away

"Now that your business her is done you may fallow Montegue ou-"

"Father I think it is only right that I see him out. I did invite him over and took his time. Among other things," Irina says cutting off her father and mumbling the last sentence to herself that Mike was barely able to make it out

"Well uh... Irina darling you really don't need to do something like that for him I am sure that Montegue is perfectly capable of doing that, don't you agree Micheal?" Mr. Castleburn while sounding especially threatening towards him for the last bit he said

"Now Mr. Castleburn is perfectly right about you needing to lead me to the door Montegue is perfectly capable in doing so," Mike says causing Mr. Castleburn to inwardly feel joyful before Mike adds, "However if you want to go outside in the front yard that you have I am sure you father won't mind"

A vein pops out on Mr. Castleburn's head as Mike did not take his warning that seriously of staying away from his daughter. Mike just wanted to mess with Mr. Castleburn as he seemed a bit uptight in his opinion and Mike believed that a little fun would not hurt anyone especially when he knows that Mr. Castleburn cannot hurt him physically while his daughter is nearby. Plus Mike did agree with him as it was improper for a lady of a noble household to see a commoner guest off, but if she just so happened to want to go outside for a bit through the front door then who was to stop her?

"Ah, you know what he is right father we have been quite busy in here for a while and I believe that a nice walk through the front garden would help relieve some stress from the talks," Irina says getting the idea from Mike in her head

"..." Mr. Castleburn does not say anything but just stares at Mike with eyes full of bloodlust staring at him

"I take it that your silence means that I can go now?" Mike asks as he stands up once more

Mr. Castleburn just slowly nods as both Mike and Irina leave the room together while Mr. Castleburn is the only one left in there. Once the door is shut loud crashes and the sounds of wood breaking are heard as Mr. Castleburn goes on a rampage at what just happened before his eyes. The noise does not escape the room as most of them are reinforced to be soundproof through various means to prevent people from eavesdropping on conversations and prevent people from hearing the screams of the dying victims that are drained of their blood.

Now the vampires here do hold restraint on who they drain the blood from as they tend to drink the blood of the old that is on death's door just so that they can live. Still, as for the screaming, it tends to come from the old as pain is still pain and the Castleburn's don't wish to draw unwanted attention to themselves. they do drain them of blood but still, leave enough to make it seem like they died of natural causes. That is how the vampires of the noble house of Castleburn lived their lives in this city through this weird lifestyle of symbosis.
