The Ambush at Zay's House

"Forget it, you said?" exclaimed Vern while crossing his arms. He continued his sentence with annoyance, "It's nice to say forget! Don't you think if Zay hadn't asked you to let me go earlier, I would've been a corpse!"

Zay turned his head quickly towards Jonathan. She raised her hand with an angry expression demanding an explanation from Jonathan, "Jo, you weren't joking, were you! Hurry up and apologize!"

"N-no, everything he said was a lie Zay. I apologized for my joke, you saw it earlier. But he arrogantly refuse my apology," Jonathan argued.

"Bullshit!" grumbled Vern. He looked away at Jonathan's theatrics.

Zay turned to look at Vern and found no solution to the petty dispute. She nodded and decided, "Okay, I'm fed up with this situation. Please continue drinking without me!"

Without thinking Zay got out of the lawn chair, intending to enter the house leaving the two grown men behind.

"Damn it!"

"Wait!" Vern and Jonathan exclaimed simultaneously. They both panicked and spontaneously blocked Zay's path.

"Get out of the way!" Zay exclaimed.

Vern still clearly harbored a lot of anger for Jonathan. However, he did not want to end the drinking event with Zay with bitter memories. Vern sighed, he felt guilty too for being provoked by Jonathan's teasing.

"I'll forgive him, tell him to apologize one more time," Vern said.

"This son of a bitch!" Jonathan cursed softly. He glanced sharply at Vern, maybe if there was no Zay he would have kicked Vern's offending mouth.

"Jo?" called Zay hoping that the opportunity she gave him would not go to waste.

Jonathan quickly looked at Zay, he felt defeated when dealing with Zay. Jonathan raised both hands, accepting Mazaya's request, "Okay, I'll do it. But please whatever the result don't kick me out, it's better to just kick him!"

"What did you say!" screeched Vern angrily.

"Listen carefully, I don't want to repeat it," Jonathan snapped. He took a breath to get rid of his prestige, then said in as sincere a tone as possible, "I apologize."

Vern opened his mouth to criticize Jonathan's attitude, but Zay could read his objection. Zay shook her head as she walked away.

"Hold on, Zay! O-okay, I forgive him, this drinking can continue, right?" replied Vern hurriedly. He grabbed Zay's wrist, preventing her from leaving.

"Hey, be polite!" warned Jonathan. He couldn't accept Zay being touched by another man directly under his nose.

Mazaya herself raised her left hand in front of Jonathan. She was telling him that she could handle Vern's attitude.

"Okay, I'll take it," Zay said without taking too long, she didn't want any trouble after all the trouble that had happened in the last five days.

A relieved smile appeared on Vern's face. He didn't realize that his hand was still holding Zay's wrist.

"Now, let go of my hand!" pleaded Zay as he glanced sharply at Vern's hand.

"Let go quickly! You're deliberately looking for an opportunity, huh?" Jonathan warned Vern, he couldn't hit him but could only protest with his voice. Obviously Jonathan's heart was burning with jealousy.

"N-no!" said Vern stuttering. He released his grip, then rubbed his face roughly and felt awkward in front of Zay.

"I'm sorry, Zay. I was just a reflex and didn't mean anything by it," Vern said, looking Zay in the eye for a moment, then looked down.

"I know," Zay replied. She nodded, turned around and walked towards the mini park. Two other footsteps followed her without knowing that the two men were still throwing hatred at each other.

"Hah, I'm so tired. Let's forget all of life's problems and have some fun!" Zay exclaimed, trying to bring back the tense atmosphere of a few minutes ago. Or maybe her words were to cheer herself up.

"Yeaaah, I think that's a good idea!" Jonathan ran a little to catch up with Zay, he took a seat right next to Zay with a big smile leaving Vern who only made him angry.

"That damn actor is looking for face," Vern grumbled. He intended to take a step, but stopped when something interrupted his thoughts.

"Wait, why do I hate seeing Jonathan close to Zay?" Vern muttered, trying to find an answer but was distracted when Zay called out to him.

"Vern! Come quickly!"

Vern snapped out of his reverie, he replied as he walked, "Yes, I'm coming."

The three of them drank quietly. Although there were still occasional quips from Vern and Jonathan. Slowly the three of them began to get drunk. Vern was the worst, he couldn't sit up straight and put his head on the table.

"Hey, wake up! There are still many drinks to be finished. Get up!" Jonathan patted Vern on the back, as if forgetting that he had been fighting with Vern.

"Never mind, let him. I'll take his share later," said Zay, who was still drinking and had just downed another glass of beer. Zay stood up a little unsteadily, she tried to open her eyes that felt heavy. She said again, "I'm going to the toilet first."

"Go for it!" said Jonathan. He waved his left hand without looking at Zay, while his right hand poured beer into his own glass. After drinking it, he leaned his head on the chair.

As for Zay, he was still staggering towards the house. She finally managed to enter the toilet with difficulty.

"Ahh what a relief," Zay muttered. As she exited the toilet, her drunken eyes accidentally spotted a bottle of beer near the entrance.

"Wow, there's one more bottle," Zay said with a hiccup. Without thinking, she opened it and drank almost a quarter of the contents. Zay leaned against the wall and fell to the floor, enjoying the beer alone.

That night the three of them fell unconscious under the influence of alcohol. As the night wore on, morning slowly took over. The rising sun was warmer than usual.

"One more floor, hurry!"

There was an order from a man accompanied by the sound of stomping shoes coming up the stairs. They were all dressed in neat black suits and their actions frightened the other residents.

"Chief, please come here," pleaded one of the bodyguards wearing sunglasses, he was surprised after seeing a person.

The new chief bodyguard had long hair, a ponytail, and a tall, bulky appearance. He approached his men to check on Vern's whereabouts.

"Vern Vlodostok?" the head bodyguard muttered with a frown. He seemed to be having a hard time deciding.

The chief bodyguard said, "Just ignore him. Our job here is to catch the person named Zay!"

"Yes, Chief."

Their attention refocused on ambushing Zay's house. They walked silently, vigilant and watching all movements as small as possible.

"Open up!" The Bodyguard Chief gave an order to his men who were holding the door knob of Zay's house.

The order was received with a steady nod of the head by the man in sunglasses. He held his breath, then turned the doorknob and pushed it forward.

"Argghh!" groaned the bodyguard with sunglasses, he was in pain as a beer bottle hit his arm. It took everyone by surprise.

"Who are you?" Zay shouted. She shook her head to get rid of the hangover, she tried to see clearly.
