13 Curiosity

Mio walked around in the dark using only her cellphone light to guide her path. Her battery was nearly dead so she ordered a cab and walked onto the main road waiting for her ride.

It was late in the evening and Mio felt sick as images flashed into her mind. Her head ached and she groaned. She had the driver drop her off near Dana's house and went to look for her suitcase, thankfully it was still there.

She hastily threw out some clothes and stuffed the green suitcase in. It was heavy and looked more like a military grade suitcase than a normal one.

Mio carted the suitcase with her up the road and into a gas station, where she proceeded to change.

She stared at herself in the mirror thinking that she had nearly escaped death. She washed the blood off of her face and caked on makeup to hide the dark circled under her eyes.

Her face looked gaunt and almost ghostly as she recalled on the bodies dropping to the ground. Mio shivered and slapped herself.

" Calm down" she spoke to herself and put on a jeans t-shirt and heels.

Mio then confidently walked out and handed the bathroom keys back to the cashier who was shocked. The cashier had seen a dirtied young man walk in and now a beautiful young woman was walking out.

Mio walked across the street up the road and to Dana's house. When she arrived Dana clicked her tongue and complained at her for being late.

Mio had previously told Dana that she would be there earlier but it had taken her longer than she had expected. Mio put on a smile and apologised she then proceeded to carry on with her night as if nothing had happened.

The next morning there was a car outside waiting for her. The manor housekeeper had texted her telling her she needed to come back.

Mio read the text and could already guess the reason she needed to go back.

" Sorry, I'm leaving so early. Something came up" Mio said hugging Dana good-bye she then swiftly entered the car, with her heart beating in her chest.

When she came walked back up the stairs and into the manor Mio could feel the doom and gloom atmosphere.

She walked up the stairs trying to act natural and saw Jacob coming down. He had a hard look on his face and Mio almost smirked. She knew why he looked so unhappy and for some reason, she revelled in it.

" Fine morning," she said in passing with a huge smile.

Jacob looked up at her and she could see a tinge of annoyance in his face.

' You wouldn't have that expression if it wasn't for me saving your ass' she almost blurted out but only walked up the stairs with a smile and carrying her suitcase with her.

Mio walked down the hallway in a casual manner. She hid her eagerness to discover what was inside the case.

As soon as Mio got to her room she locked the door and threw the case onto the bed opening it up and fishing out the green case from inside.

Mio took out her phone and put her earphones in as she spoke to Link.

" Link I have this case here", she said turning the camera on.

Link whose background on the phone was completely black looked and saw a green military case.

"Mimi" his voice was slightly distorted over the phone.

" Do you know what this is?"

" No" Mio answered.

" This is a military grade computer casing. From what I can see it's locked but if you give me enough time I can crack it open. But, I'm not sure it's safe".

Mio nodded looking at the case. It was something that Jacob had paid big money to get his hands on. She wondered if she shouldn't just give it to him.

Shaking that thought from her head, Mio said " Okay. Let's just take a peek".

" Alright" Link agreed. Despite being aware of the dangers Link was also very interested in finding out what secrets were inside the case.
