chapter 25

Daniel was aware of what was going on with Jay and the swordswoman . But he wouldn't interfer unless Jay was on the brink of death.

He was being chased by Jessica, except he was too fast to be caught up with . Even when she was maneuvering around with an industrial forklift.

The warehouse forklifts were inherently made not to be as fast as cars . Daniel was running as horse speeds not to mention he was aware when more of them were trying to lock him in place . His hearing was good enough to hear the motors . And his spacial perception could account for moving objects.

But even while running he was taking stock of where all essential items were . Truly he didn't take them seriously at all .

Which was a mistake, because he dived face first into a concrete wall soon after !

Daniel was confused . How did that happen?! He had been paying attention to his path the entire time!

But he wasn't given time to contemplate, the fork lift came blazing for him . Daniel still not taking it seriously dodged out of the linear path of the forks, but mistake ! Again! The metal rods suddenly twisted out of the fork lift in the direction he'd dodged . And Daniel never once sensed it coming.

Weather it was his sight , hearing , smell or even spacial perception!

Stab ! For the first time since the apocalypse started Daniel had been severely injured!

"Gah! " The twisted rod went right through his shoulder. blue blood spilled out of his right shoulder and onto the surroundings, including the fork lift .

In that brief moment , Daniel experienced clarity. Finally understanding that he was in trouble!

He was under a hypnosis! Or at least something like that ! Because his mind worked faster than others he realized multiple things in the short moment of clarity.

First he felt no threat from these people . It was like his arrogance had been amplified multiple folds till he saw them as lesser than himself, not bothering to take any of them seriously.

He knew he was arrogant, but he wasn't that arrogant. Had he been , he'd be dead by Eric's hands. So that was manipulation of his emotions. Whoever had that ability was dangerous!

The second thing he noticed was that he forgot . Daniel does not forget . He can't forget . How did he forget a concrete wall was coming up ?! That was nonsense! How could he forget a fork lift rod in his spacial perception coming at him in real time !

How could he forget how to defend himself at all times?!!!

And now look his precious blood was gushing out .

STOP! He realized he was still under the influence of his arrogance!

So while he still had his sanity Daniel came up with a plan . Even when knowing he was under the influence of his arrogance he wouldn't be able to change the situation.

His arrogance was actively preventing him from escaping, it was also working alongside the 'forgetting ' preventing him from using his spacial folding to get away !

Sinister , too sinister!

When Jessica saw his blue blood , she was too shocked to continue further and kill him .' Was he even human?' she asked herself.

" Jessica! NOW! " Sam the only male amongst the attackers now in clothes yelled.

But he was too late . Daniel forcefully ripped his body off of the metal forks that had hooked onto his right shoulder .

" AAAAAAAH!" Daniel yelled out in pain as more blue blood gushed out of his body . So much so he begun to feel light headed and groggy.

This was an emergency.

" Wow to think I'd survive all that just to be injured by the likes of you lot ." Daniel said while panting loudly.

" HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"

Jay slashed his arm vertically releasing a barrier attack which was then sliced in two by Audrey's sword . But it wasn't totally easy for her to do , you could see her drawing out her all with each swing. It was also a good thing for her that once the attack was sliced the bluish unstable barrier collapsed it's form, or else even after slicing through she on the other end of the sword will still be split .

After all no one had consumed more high grade energy than Jay and Eric . Their strength was at the top of the surrounding areas. From the very beginning not only were they aware of the gems and how to use them , but also they hunted many , including the army that came out of the rift a week ago .

" But what is the point when it can still be cut ?" Jay was furious. But compared to him who had barely exerted himself, his opponent was sweating buckets.

' this cannot go on , he's too strong . If we continue a battle of attrition, I'll die !. I need to finish this quickly and get back with the others . I was never supposed to take this long.' Audrey thought to herself.

" You are strong, but you can't beat me . You are too slow! " Audrey sprinted with her sword in hand .

She closed the distance between herself and Jay within seconds and swung her sword with all her might !.

VaBoom ! As sudden dome expansion met with her attack. On a normal occasion, this would have been her death. But she managed to survive and be pushed back .

" Tch " she hadn't seen this attack before .

But she didn't give up on the first try. She went again .and again and again .

And every time the results where the same but Audrey was a swordswoman , a rare sport especially for women in her side of the states to get into .

When her power manifested 2 weeks ago she was over the moon . It didnt bother her that the world was meeting its end . The fact that she could go beyond what was normal and defeat those big brown insects that could kill hundreds of humans casually thrilled her .

Now she has seen another obstacle for her sword , and she wasn't going to rest till she had overcome it.

"Haa" "Haa" "HAAA" "HAAAA" Jay saw what was happening, and it made him really concerned. The distance she was being flung off of him was gradually reducing!

That sword was dangerous if he got cut , it could mean his end ! He knew exactly how durable his barrier was . Kayden a giant had attempted to smash it in , but it held . Melovus had tried to stab through , and they too failed . He was convinced it would last against a golden beetle too . But here this non entity was continuously slicing through them albeit with some strain . But still ! Once could be considered a fluke , but when it happened throughout the battle exchange, it became a feature.

And then Jay witnessed as her attacks went from one ever three seconds to three attacks every three seconds .

His barrier generation was meeting its limits . She was closing in too quickly and slicing through his barrier each time .

And then in his panic his barrier faltered . It's like when you are writing the number 358 on a sheet of paper many times , it's almost a given that you may commit a mistake when the speed to write it down is shortened into a second for each time its written.

Jay saw the glee on her face as her sword inched towards his neck in the slowed down world .

He didn't understand why she was so adamant on killing him. All they'd done was come for supplies . But Jay couldn't accept that he'd be killed by such a nameless person . If he was going to die, he should have died by the regressors hand , not some archaic swordswoman!

" FUCK IT ALLLL!!!!!" He yelled out .

The blade had just begun to slice the very edge of his neck , drawing out blood when wave upon wave upon wave of barriers generated out of his being shooting out forming fields . Kinda like what a very visible magnetic field would look like.

Audrey was flung so faraway crashing into a mental bar that held the pallets containing product. Jay was soo exhausted he collapsed shortly after , blood slowly leaking out of his open wound . Clearly if he didn't get immediate medical attention he was a goner.

A few seconds ago .

" Weak insects who don't know their place !" Daniel couldn't find a way to get rid of the 'arrogance' influence had he had a direction , maybe he could understand it.

But he didn't know how the power worked who cast it , how it was cast on him , if it was even only on him , or a field of effect kind of attack, or when he was placed under the influence.

It was annoying as shit . It also didn't help that he hadn't diverged from his habits, so he couldn't even determine when it all started.

Moreover though he heard 'Sam's' voice , he didn't know where he was or remember where it came from .

He'd witnessed many powers , and was confident in coming out victorious through his martial art and strength. Like

Augustine's gun with higher than average hit rate , Mavis' sound attack , Jay's barrier or Kayden's strength.

But to be pitted against these fuckers was a really bad match up !.

" Kneel down to me , your eyes should not look upon my grandness! " So he decided to lean into his arrogance, and show his hand !

His wound was closing , visible to the naked eye . He realized his usable biomass was reducing without his intention, his worm was still alive , so it didn't matter much to him for now

He slowly acended into the sky, and as he did , he stopped holding the space around him stable. All those attacking him watched in horror as reality bent and waved in the most unusual fashion!

Wibbley , wobbley ,

Up was down left was right the cardinals where four and one , gravity wells formed and collapsed with him as the epicenter, and later expansion turned a centimeter around him into a mile !

Everything was broken with reality where he stood . Distance didn't matter, nor did the laws of the universe hold .

" You want me to forget how to defend myself? Then let's go fuRTHER AND FORGET HOW THE LAWS OPERATE!!! "

" I AND YOU INSECTS ARE NOT THE SAME!!! . YOU INFERIOR BEINGS OF WEAK BODIES ! AS NOTHING THAN DUST WHY DONT I HELP YOU ACENDED?! BE GREATFUL.FOR AT LEAST YOU NOW HAVE USE TO ME !"

Daniel wasn't intentionally yelling . With his arrogance reaching an unknown pinnacle his very biology begun to disconnect it's ties to anything remotely viewed as weak in his eyes. A normal sounding voice was seen by him as weak and inferior, so his voice became booming and more masculine.

By not making space stable , Daniel not only released the burden on himself, but his true self was laid for all to see.

This was what a true impossiblity looked like . A bug in the system called laws , a privilege to a law held by only one in the universe, a backdoor to the binding laws of reality .

One must also remember that this display was in the realms of normal for Daniel . A spark and a flame where two very different stages, that couldn't be crossed with millions or eons of years of training or growth.

Daniel theorized some time ago that the only way to go from spark to flame was to further generate a second impossiblity, which was a random event .and possibly might never happen in a beings lifetime twice. Not to mention that impossiblity had to be greater than a spark to be sensed in the first place . Then there was the fact that the impossiblity had to be triggered with a similar band of rules to the previous spark .

Daniel was the anomaly who jumped the gun literally, consuming higher dimensional energies to speed up the process , and using the universes punishment as a catalyst to further speed it up by centuries. There can never be another like him , even himself in the previous timeline Eric came from .

higher dimensional energies and universal lightening went into making him !

The group attacking him felt shivers . They had Attacked God !

What else was there to think when the range of Daniels influence on reality was a mile in diameter when it wasn't forming a well of space with him as the center .

" S–stop it hurry up hurry up !" Jessica yelled at the one probably causing the arrogance influence. Unfortunately she has the presence of mind not to point out who it was .

Daniel would have been delighted to know who the fucker was . He'd ascend then into his personal waste disposal.

And so when the arrogance influence was gone Daniel tried finding them , but he always forgot where they were . He could be looking straight at them but forget they were standing there .

" These things really have some broken abilities" he said with a frown .

Jay bleeding out and dying came into his perception, so Daniel didn't have time to play around with them and uncover the secrets they held . But before leaving he left a warning.

" I'll be back ."

Space stabilized and all seemed right with the world again .

One moment he was there in the sky , and the next he wasn't .
